Happy TALK LIKE A PIRATE Day!
“Must we go through this nonsense every year?”
“Okay, maybe you’ll like this one better.” She clears her throat, as if preparing a monologue on the theatrical stage. "How much does a pirate pay for his earrings?“
He sighs, knowing she’ll persist until he yields. "I don’t know, Swan,” he replies in a sing-song voice. “How much?”
Her smile would be a thing to behold if he wasn’t on the verge of begging her to spare him any more dreadful puns. "A buck an ear.“
“Right, that’s it.” Her startled yelp as he scoops her up and hoists her over his shoulder is music to his ears. "I’ll show you pirate, love, and I guarantee you won’t be laughing by the time I’m done with you.“
He’s right.
She’s breathless and grinning from ear to ear by the time he’s done with her. Then again, so is he.
No time to write something new today, so here is a shameless reblog of a vintage ‘talk like a pirate day’ ficlet from 2014.
Miss you all, hopefully will be back around and reblogging and generally being a fangirl soon!
Here I am, yet again, reblogging the little pirate ficlet I dashed off in 2014 (oh my freaking godfathers that's 11 years ago) in honour of Talk Like a Pirate Day. If you're tired of reading it, at least there is a delightful picture of Colin.

#PBS teaches kindness and inclusion, which are threats to abusive paternalism.
Fanfic is a free hobby.
It's one of the last few things we can have as a society that's free. You can engage, for free. People give you things (art, stories, etc), for free.
Don't buy into the consummerism just because it's everywhere else.
You don't have to consume everything you interact with. You don't have to use things, just because they exist.
You're allowed (still, for now), to have things that are enjoyable for free.
Do you realise how insane the world is? We don't have many places where we can just be, for free anymore, but ao3 is. Did you notice we don't have ads in ao3? We don't have pop ups? Where ELSE do we not have that?
Where else can you just go and not have to wait for a commercial to be over or for ads to be on the sidelines?
I don't think the younger people understand, but the whole of internet used to be like this. YouTubers would do Youtube for free, just because. You couldn't monetise your internet presence before.
Ao3 is like a little preserved corner of the internet where the old internet used to be, and it's being attacked by people who do not understand that free things are allowed to exist without judgment.
Please don't ruin this for us.
Some of us need it.
(Well, I remembered my Tumblr password, so that's a good start?)
Hello to anyone who might see this little post.
It has been a stupidly long time since I logged into Tumblr, let alone made a post, so forgive me if I am slightly rusty. I have been thinking quite a lot lately about the Before Time, aka when fandom life was vibrant and dramatic and filled with creative people. Le sigh.
@scribblecat27 and I often still reminisce about the Saturday afternoons spent online once our respective chores were done, when we would swap fic and art ideas and overthink the latest Captain Swan content of the latest episode. I truly miss those heady days (even the drama, let's face it, sometimes especially the drama, lol) and I miss the people here.
I'm kind of rambling now, to be honest. Full disclosure, I haven't been writing, let alone reading any of my unfinished WIPs, and I have been very neglectful in replying to messages on here.
BUT -
I remembered my password, I logged on using my home PC rather than my phone, and I have replied to ONE whole message. Who knows what tomorrow might bring? Answering more messages? Re-reading the unfinished stories that haunt me to this day? LOL.
PS: After an anxious few weeks leading up to our national election, Australia's version of the US Democrats just got voted back into power in what might be called a landslide, so fucking hurray and what better way to celebrate than to rediscover a few things that used to give me great joy?
how have you been?

You know what? I believe that you can finish your writing project. I believe you can update your fic. I believe you can work on your WIP. I don't care if you think it's cringy or bad. I don't care if we've never met or interacted in our whole lives. I believe in you. Keep going - you've got this.
