I mean of COURSE Shauna hates Nat. Nat who’s sweet and caring and such a kind ruler, who took time to find what each yellowjacket was good at and liked decently enough to reconstruct their little society after the fire. She took Gen hunting, helped Akilah take care of their little farm, allowed Taissa full control of the construction of their shelters, gave Van space to unite the community through storytelling, even allowing Lottie to try and help Travis with their wilderness drugs. Except Shauna. Shauna didn’t need to find something to do, she was already the butcher. She butchered Javi so so nicely they almost forgot it was him. She’s been so strong throughout all of her huge losses in the wilderness, surely she can take it. She has been taking it. Nat didn’t need to make time to make sure Shauna was ok, after all Shauna didn’t want it. Except of course she did. Shauna needed a friend and suddenly everyone turned on her to favor their Queen, a title she deserves so much more.

Nat hid Ben, the person who had prolonged Shauna’s eternal winter suffering by burning down the cabin the same night she had to butcher Javi, someone she cared for so much. Nat hid Ben, the one responsible for the yellowjackets newfound adoration for Nat’s ruling. Nat hid Ben, the one who deserved to die and pay for his crimes, making Shauna useful again.
