               pepper had long since learned that taking tony seriously after his SEVENTEENTH DRINK was never a good idea, but she couldn’t quite help the slight flutter at the pit of her stomach as his words. she could feel his eyes BORING into her as she gathered the remains of glasses, some with red and pink semicircles decorating the rim at various angles. there was no need, of course there wasn’t, the help would arrive the next morning and before she was back from a long day of WORK the entire house would be empty of any traces of the RAGING PARTY he’d decided to throw on a drunken whim. but as long as she’d waited to hear a semblance of sincerity in those exact words strung together in that exact order– she couldn’t give him the answer she WANTED to. not because she felt it would destroy either him or her, which it inevitably might, but more because he would wake the next morning with little to no memory of what took place or would somehow wake to REGRET it.
