My parents had gone to the same college as Bill Clinton … and my mom tells me there was this sort of chivalrous policy on campus back then, where late at night, if female students were leaving the library unaccompanied, male students were encouraged to wait out in front and offer to walk them home.

That sounds good, right? [chuckles]

So my mom tells me that Bill Clinton would be out in front of the library every single night, just being like: [imitating Clinton] “Hey can I walk you home? Hey can I walk you home? Hey can I walk you home?”

Shout out to Arrow for showing that you don’t need a formal education to succeed in life or to make a difference. 

Shout out to Arrow for having nineteen year old Thea Queen be one hell of a manager not because of her age or her diploma, but because she’s passionate about what she does, she loves it and she has one heck of a sense of business.

Shout out to Arrow for having Oliver - four times college dropout - Queen run for mayor and win an election based not on his politics degree, connections or empty words but on merit and the fact that he truly does have the city’s best interest at heart (including its citizens). 

In this line of thought:

Shout out to Arrow for giving the position of ARGUS director to Lyla Michaels who despite being a stay-at-home-mom for about a year and cutting ties with ARGUS is still the first person they turn to after the death of Waller since she’s also the most suitable one for the job so naturally she gets it.

Shout out to Arrow for letting Felicity grow and learn as she went up the corportate ladder. For letting her evolve from an overly qualified brilliant IT girl to a savvy businesswoman whose only fault (business-wise) is that she prioritizes the lives and safety of thousands over her desk job and job security. Additional shout out to Arrow for making it explicitly clear that Felicity got to where she is based on merit, skills and personal qualities instead of who she knew and/or dated.

Basically, one big huge shout out to Arrow for showing young people (and all the people who watch it, really) that good things do happen to those who put the effort to make them happen. Hard work, instinct and love for what you do pays off eventually. And if you don’t have those all the diplomas in the world mean jack shit.
