the romance between reevesverse batcat was written in a way that makes it obvious to me there were discussions going on behind the scenes about how to avoid the common pitfalls of 'colorblind' writing wrt an interracial relationship...only for the fandom to flat-out ignore of all that in favor of clogging the tags with poorly written obvious raceplay fetish </3

selina being hyperfemme and soft is important to the dynamic. selina being damseled (twice even!) is important. bruce being violently protective of her is important.

all these people whining about how disappointed they were because selina wasn't mean enough, because bruce saving her was a plot point, because selina wore her emotions all over her sweet little face instead of hiding behind a layer of #coolgirl snark are missing the point that these things were included for a reason...the reason being that reevesverse selina kyle is a black woman.

if in the year our lord 2022, you can't understand why it's important that the black female love interest to one of the most famous superheroes of all time was written in a way that made it clear that yes, she is capable and strong, but also that she is soft and sweet and lonely and loves bruce so much it's almost sickening, idk what to tell you. seek help.

I wanna believe that the "el rata alada" thing from The Batman movie is what actually gets Bruce to learn languages as a part of his Batman training.

Like before he was focusing on the detective stuff and fighting abilities but after that he's like "shit that was embarassing I guess I'm gonna have to just sit down and learn all these languages now so this doesn't happen again"

Also years later a Robin will ask him why he knows so many languages and Bruce will respond with "uhh, knowing languages is just useful in what we do."

Then Gordon just looks at him with a disapproving grimace and says "so, you didn't tell him about el rata alada?"
