Horse Evolution

I’ve been experimenting with all kinds of media lately.

I started out with these fun colorful watercolor horses, using Uni Posca markers and watercolors.

Then a few made their way on to these pencil cases.

And some into stickers.

And finally I experimented with sewing them on to colorful paper backgrounds.

In my next post I’ll show you how easy it is for a horse to transform into a unicorn!

Washi tape fun

Not sure what to do with all that pretty washi tape? Try this little activity. Pick 3 colors Randomly place a piece of tape on the page Place a few more pieces, overlap and rotate the page After 6 pieces of tape, try to find an animal Maybe look for a tail or nose and build from there. Now start filling in with tape and outline with a marker or pencil

Finishing up and framing!

I’ve been working on my photo editing skills in GIMP and I was finally happy with the results of the scanned files. This allowed me to order prints of various sizes online. I decided on square prints, I just prefer the square shape to the traditional 5×7 or 8×10. After the prints arrived I found some simple frames…..and here are the results! These guys are already on their way to a new home.

Lucky Dog Here is a fun little watercolor dog I painted last weekend for a friend. Duke is a lucky dog she adopted just in time for Christmas. Super fun to draw and makes me smile when I see him.

Christmas Already?

Experimenting with adding a Santa hat to the birds.

I’ve signed up to be in a craft fair in a few weeks. The last time I did a craft fair was before my kids were born! I plan to have watercolor characters for Christmas tree decorations. I’ll post some pics in the next few days.

Mouse Evolution

It started with this little guy. I thought I wanted to make a little Christmas mouse out of wallpaper scraps. I found a pattern I liked and set to tracing, cutting and gluing. He was okay, but in the end I felt like I wanted something a little different.

Inktober Week 2

I’ve been making time to do a small ink sketch every day for the month of October. Here are the results from week 2.

Quick little sketch before going to sleep. Still in my crosshatching faze.

Not sure if it is a cat? or mouse? but I thought it was cute.

I liked this tree, I dropped some ink on the page and then used canned air to move the ink and make branches.

Inktober Week 1

I’ve been making time to do a small ink sketch every day for the month of October. I am currently trying to improve my cross hatching skills. It takes a lot of practice! Here are the sketches from the first week.

This is the 4th attempt, I like this one the best.

Used a mushroom picture from google to sketch this.

Tried doing something more complex, I need much more practice.

It’s almost October and time for Inktober!

Inktober rules:

1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).

Doodles

I haven’t been very productive with creating art lately. I blame it on my mountain bike and watching too many videos of other people making art.

Blue Dogs

I’ve been experimenting with layers and mixed media lately, it’s messy and I am not sure I like the look. I had some fun over lunch the other day, getting back to basics making some blue and green dogs with Daler Rowney inks and water.
