I feel like, while a lot of people get my whole "killing and pillaging" side right, not a lot of people really take about the fact that I'm a pirate. Like, yeah you get that I am, but no one really understands that I do what I do, (mostly for fun, yes, but also) for money.

I rob planets and get rich.

And maybe a couple of interplanetary genocides, but yeah,

I've got fat stacks.

I'm like interplanetary Jeff Bezos, but less money hungry, and a bit less of a dick towards my employees.

This reminds me of an old headcanon I had for the 'Smashverse,' where Ridley and Sephiroth had custody of Pichu. It was based on all the fanart people would make of Ridley and Pichu being friends cause they were next to each other on a promotional banner or something (also could have been in connection with Samus and Pikachu being friends as a parallel...). Then the same thing happened with Sephiroth, and fanart was made too

I saw a post where Ridley would be jealous, and it was soooo funny to me.

I like the idea that Ridley's prominent ribcage is not just bones showing through like on an emaciated human, but that the adult stage of her species has a partial exoskeleton in addition to a complete endoskeleton. Her chest looks so skin and bones because any muscle that's there (and there'd probably have to be some there, considering she has functional wings) is under that, and under the muscle is another ribcage around vital organs. The "outer ribs" are quite flexible, and would adapt to added mass of fat or muscle like skin does, but are durable enough that together with scaly skin they act as natural armor. Other features like that are the patches and "seams" on her limbs and tail (most prominent in the Super Metroid design), and I also draw her with plates over her belly instead of visible abs.

Her design is based on xenomorphs, after all, and they similarly have an extra ribcage over a body that seems like it could have a regular humanoid skeleton inside it, since the original alien was portrayed by an actor in a suit.

Also Samus parallels, because her power suit is an exoskeleton that's part of her body which already has a skeleton in it.

In Prime, Meta Ridley's chest having "thinner plating" compared to elsewhere that's armored, which sounds like a bad idea and a built-in videogamebossweakpoint, is because her chest is only protected by the artificial plating, while in some other places the natural exo(and endo)skeleton is still more intact under the artificial armor, as the cybernetics are mostly prosthetics replacing lost tissue. In their previous fight Samus shot both of Ridley's ribcages to pieces aiming at her heart, which in Prime is at least partially artificial, and exposed once you break the plating.

Was wiki diving some Metroid Prime log entries for research reasons and the Pirate Data log on Meta Ridley is loaded with so many implications about Ridley + how he's treated among the Space Pirates it's kinda nuts.

The reconstruction of geoform 187, code-named Ridley, was recently completed. After his defeat on Zebes, Command ordered a number of metagenetic improvements for him. Though aggressive, we were able to implement these changes in a cycle. The metamorphosis was painful, but quite successful in the end. Early tests indicate a drastic increase in strength, mobility, and offensive capability. Cybernetic modules and armor plating have been added as well. We believe our creation, now called Meta Ridley, will become the mainstay of our security force, a job he will certainly relish.

"The reconstruction of geoform 187, code-named Ridley, was recently completed." <- This one sentence alone raises so many questions. "geoform 187" why are you call him that as though he's a lab sample and not previously a commander + probably your boss? "code-named Ridley" implying that wasn't always his name?

Meta Ridley received genetic modifications in addition to cybernetics, and the process was described as painful? "Though aggressive" implying he resisted???

Inspired by that one Smash 4 screenshot, which I like, because self-indulgent Reluctant Team-up Scenario thoughts, but unfortunately since it's Smash 4 they both have my least favorite version of their design in it.

So I bring you: my faves, (reluctantly?) teaming up.

I'm gonna explore Phantoon and Draygon's characters at some point. Not sure if I should do a character profile type thing first, or just drop lore randomly (knowing myself, the latter will happen lmaoo).

Due to a recent conversation, I started thinking about them, so one thing I will say now is that Phantoon is female. Draygon could be considered non-binary, but I have it as they don't have a specific biology and they reproduce asexually.
