on demons, and sexuality
succubus, from the latin “succubare”, meaning, “to lie under”, via “sub” meaning “beneath, under”, and “cubare”, meaning “to lie down”.
incubus, from the latin “incubare”, meaning “to lie upon or within”, via the prefix “in”, with much the same meaning as the English homonym, and the same “cubare” as succubi.
i propose here that demonologists erred, and that succubi and incubi are not a division of gender, but of role; a succubus may be a man, woman, androgyne, genderfluid, bigender, agender, anything so long as they are a bottom.
further, i propose the following:
accubus: switchy demons
circucubus: demons who only want to snuggle
neccubus: sex-repulsed demons
