Ao3: We Made Our Peace With Weariness And Let It Be
Opinion:
Fans of "female characters who get hate for 'getting in they way' of gay ships" should stop complaining. Okay, the last part was just hyperbole to get people to continue reading.
what the hell sure. two krs
Unpopular Stardew Valley opinion:
I don’t think Clint is as bad as people make him out to be.
People often accuse him of being a creepy stalker incel but he always came off to ME as just a painfully awkward guy with low self esteem. He never actually blames Emily for his failure to speak up about his feelings, and him continuing to try even after you start dating her is I think less a character trait and more another example of the game’s occasionally wonky coding. (Robin will sometimes ask you if you’re friends with her son even after you’ve married him, sooooo)
But so yeah, I’m not a huge Clint stan or anything but I don’t dislike him I think he’s just a sorta anxious dude who people jump to hating because he shares some superficial traits with actual assholes.
(also I have a sneaking suspicion that people would be a lot more forgiving if he wasn’t fat)
Reblogging this for no particular reason
Actually no, I’m going to expand on this, because the reactions I’m seeing to the Clint romance announcement are pissing me off.
The Fandom hatred for Clint has, in my opinion, always been wildly disproportionate. He’s not an incel, please google what the fuck that actually means. He’s a painfully shy guy with shit luck and an unrequited crush on a girl who isn’t even aware of it until he finally tells her, then she lets him down easy and he accepts it. That does not an incel make. If that’s still enough for you to dislike him, fine, but he’s not the Devil incarnate get a grip.
And the interpretations of his words and actions are always the absolute worst faith interpretations possible, this guy gets no benefit of the doubt.
This poor sap finally gathers enough courage to go up to Emily’s door and ask her out, but when she opens the door unexpectedly he panics and hides from her in a bush because he got scared and lost his nerve. Anyone else and people would find that cute, but because it’s a big ol’ fat dude doing it he’s suddenly a stalker.
I’m not even a huge fan of Clint. I’m not even a huge fan of Clint. But the double standard is infuriating.
Because I know in my fucking gut that he wouldn’t be getting a third of the vitriol he gets if he was skinny and handsome. It’s implied in the game that he’s shy and awkward precisely because he’s a big dude and that has made him wary of how people perceive him. And for him to be proven so goddamn correct all the time in this fandom is breaking my heart for a guy I usually only vaguely care about.
Anyway. When the update comes around I’m gonna make a farmer who’ll blow Clint’s back out on the rebound. Because he fuckin’ deserves it at this point.
I just don't know what it is with Stardew Valley fans and their beef with each other and their superiority complexes over what you like and don't like about sdv characters.
Like, the main reason Clint defenders think people hate him is just his looks. But like with the 1.7 marriage candidate announcements, people are saying they didn't want Clint, they wanted the wizard (old dude with a beard), they wanted Willy (old dude with a beard, smells like fish), they wanted Linus (lives out in the woods, doesn't have proper hygiene, old dude with a beard).
Twins in AU from the last post And Raon in egg
At least once, I actually would love to read a TCF fanfic where cale and ogcale are in one place/meet and they're just both called Cale. No need for 'Kim' or 'Caine' or 'Ciel' or anything.
Like, purely just that barbie scene of "Hi, Cale" "Hello, Cale".

Among the Lost Times - ch58
Preview:
As an OgCale enjoyer, I would absolutely love for someone, anyone, dramatically point at him and, in the most accusatory tone ever, declare out loud how much of a softie he is.
That's my ideal way of anyone finding out the truth about him.
I really do love and appreciate Kim!Cale Henituse a lot. ESPECIALLY after a hundred romance manhwa mcs of 'No! Don't you dare get me out of poverty, feed my malnutritioned brother and pay for my grandmamomsisterbigbrother's cancer surgery. I can do it myself with my 3 minimum wage jobs I keep getting fired from because either my coworkers are mean to me or people sexually harass me. I am not pitiful, hmph! 😠 pout'
Like just take the money, please. I beg you.
Also Cale is canonically a reader so like he definitely feels my pain. I just KNOW he's tired of them too 💔
Wait. AU where, more or less around his coming of age (late teens or so), OgCale finds out there's a lot of stuff going on, dangerous stuff and troublesome stuff, the kind of things that would make being in charge of a territory an extremely stressful, dangerous and complicate task. So he decides that, fine, he's going to take the damn count position, only so his little brother doesn't have to deal with this and possibly end in danger.
He takes charge, does a ridiculously good job, solves the biggest issues and gets rid of the urgent menaces. Once it's all settled he says "well, now that's better. It's your turn now" and drops the title in Bassen's lap, who was appointed as his right hand for this purpose exactly, and runs off to who knows where to live his best life and investigate other concerning stuff.
Bro isn't even 25 and is already retired. Retired in the most literal sense because he is both the chillest person around and can't stay still for more than an hour unless he's asleep.
The rest of the noble society is absolutely baffled. Who even gives their non-biological sibling their own title out of their own volition?! He was count for less than two years! They can't even attribute it to him being over his head because he was doing a fantastic job. He was so efficient and brilliant their own parents compared them with him. Noble children were told to learn from his example despite his past behaviour.
And then he woke up one day and decided to throw it all aside and leave.
Occasionally someone will run onto him at a market in some village or a store in a different country. Whenever that happens he'll greet if the other part greets him first, but when he's asked anything about why he left or what is he doing, he'll just be extremely cryptic about it.
Why? Why not. If it's not his family, he's not obliged to tell anyone anything, and he's not particularly fond of most nobles.
He could make friends and get a life or whatever.
And then the "btw, he used to be a count once. Like for a year or so." would come up and the friends would be "Used to? Oh no. Did something bad happen? Was his homeland destroyed or something? Or was he stripped of his title?" And he's like "nah. I was done using it so I passed it to my brother." And never adress it again.
It never fails to surprise me how some people misrepresent ogCale's sacrifice as him being selfish, when he was the one who literally lost EVERYTHING and gained crumbs from that deal.
Some people act as if KRS' transmigration was a malicious act on ogCale's part and not a consequence of the God of Death fixing his own mess. And who, let's remember, already screwed KRS over before through the White Star's curse (which wouldn't exist if it weren't for his vows of death in the first place).
I don't know if people really believe that the God of Death sat down with ogCale to have a nice chitchat and explain all the details of the deal. If so, they clearly skipped the flashback of Choi Jung Soo's deal.
The God of Death only explains what's convenient for him, and the deal proposal doesn't last long (because the person in question is usually dying/about to die, which was ogCale's case).
Negotiate? There's no time for that. You take the offer or you die, it's that simple.
ogCale's options were either to die and let his world be destroyed. Or give thousands of people a chance in exchange for transmigration.
It's obvious which of those two options is the best.
If you applaud KRS!Cale whenever he does bad things that will benefit others, you automatically forfeit the right to reproach other characters who have done/did the same thing.
The guy didn't go on vacation to live the good life and leave all the work to Kim Rok Soo. Rather, he was the one who lost the most here.
Kim Rok Soo received a complete guide that included context, important landmarks, important events, important people, powers, resources, inside knowledge (like the fact Alberu had an AP himself) and long details about the future, etc. And his new identity is that of a young master whom no one expects anything from, and who is the son of one of the richest families in the region.
OgCale, on the other hand, obtained incomplete memories and powers, just enough to adapt to his new life. Which is crazy when you think about it because Kim Rok Soo is someone pretty important (even though he denies it), and those are some big shoes to fill.
His mother? Although she was reincarnated in the same world he transmigrated into, the adoption was never guaranteed. Choi Jung Soo just gave him the address of the orphanage and left. He had to do the rest.
His decision saved thousands of lives, regardless of what was going through his mind when he made the deal. Not just his family's lives. Which, I remind you, had been dead for decades. And whom he will NEVER BE ABLE TO SEE AGAIN.
And yet, the only thing ogCale complained about during his meeting with KRS!Cale was the night shift, only to add that he would become CEO of the company to get rid of it.
He tells KRS!Cale to cast his name away not because he's an asshole, but so that KRS!Cale can move on and live his new life comfortably. Bro even tells him how to actually succeed in becoming a slacker.
He's working hard, taking care of KRS!Cale's team (as seen in the special), and even tells KRS!Cale himself that he will definitely save the earth so the other doesn't worry about it. Which part of that is selfish?
Not to mention that KRS!Cale wouldn't have saved anyone or have the family he has now because they would all be dead, and therefore the opportunity to be happy after a shitty life would not have come his way either.
The original Cale Henituse is such a captivating character because even after so much time, he remains largely a mystery.
When he's introduced at the beginning of the story, it seemed he would be just an arrogant nobleman who did whatever he pleased and had no relevance beyond being a minor villain who would quickly be forgotten as the story progressed. However, even in the first chapters, KimCale gives us some more details about ogCale that show there's much more behind this "irrelevant" character than what was initially presented. And throughout the story, a few more details are revealed here and there, but nothing grand enough to drastically change the perception of the character. But these small details about who ogCale really is are enough to pique our curiosity, to make us want to know more about him. So when he finally appears, many questions are answered, but not enough, because ogCale is as slippery as KimCale when it comes to talking about himself.
To me, that whole story that ogCale told about being just a private during the war is as true as KimCale saying he was just an office worker when he lived in Korea.
The original Cale Henituse is one of, if not the, most important characters, because without him the entire TCF story wouldn't exist as it does, and we know almost nothing about who he really is.
My yaois 🥹 ; modern au
AU where Lily and ogCale are like that Tinkerbell song strange sight. Except it has a happy ending, unlike canon.
Lily is a curious kid, seeing the older boy who she's heard is her brother but she barely knows anything about, and she wants to know him. At first sight he looks strange and distant (the 'You're reckless and distant' part) but as time passes and she still keeps trying to know him and understand him, she notices more and more that he actually cares a lot about them.
Still, through her attempts and observations, she can't help but wonder if he doesn't want to just be left alone because people are so mean to him. She wonders if the reason why he always seems in a bad mood and is rude to others (not them, though) is because everyone is rude to him first. That makes her think twice about her whole 'let's get to know orabeoni (and become like actual siblings)' goal, but ultimately decides to continue because the idea of her oldest brother staying alone and scorned forever is too sad.
Eventually, OgCale drops the act because Lily ended up in danger and he was not letting her get hurt.
In the aftermath, Lily finally gets to ask the important questions. He tries to explain things in a kid friendly, "don't make it sound that bad" kind of way. Of course he's not as successful as he thinks. Does it sound less awful than it is? Yes. Is it still very sad to hear to anyone else than him? Also yes.
She then drags him from the sleeve to see Violan or Deruth (or any responsible adult she finds first) because they have to hear this.
Bassen, who happened to be already there when Lily dragged their brother there, is not so lowkey freaking out all along.
They work things out, both their familial relationships and the external issues. For the first time in years, adults in OgCale's life are doing something else to solve problems besides throwing money at it.
That still weirds him out months later. He keeps saying things like "this wouldn't have happened if you just had left me keep doing things my way" whenever something slightly bad happens. At those times, depending on who is nearby, his siblings will distract him or his parents will try to figure a viable plan/solution to deal with whatever is happening.
At some point the servants just conclude that OgCale, their known trashy young master, must have some kind of anxiety or paranoia due to the trauma of suddenly losing his mom so young. Half of them think the reason he drank so often was to cope and now that his family is trying to help he's doing better.
The other half heard from someone who heard from someone who heard from someone who overheard the conversation between the family and told that person it was because "the young master loves his family so much he decided to sabotage himself to prevent any conflict towards them. I can't blame him. I mean, don't you know what happened with the Stans?" Which somehow ended up as "the young master was protecting his siblings all the time. Apparently there was a menace from the Stans, probably Venion Stan. Young Master Cale hates him, after all." Which transformed into "the son of the marquis, Venion Stan, threatened Young Master Bassen and Young Lady Lily and Young Master Cale was protecting them all along."
OgCale knows there's some kind of misunderstanding between the servants but he's honestly too tired to care. It's nothing bad for his family, at least.
I do still like to think that og cales gets embarrassed in private. Especially when its something he wasnt *planning* on doing but it happened anyway
"Not everything has to be a romantic relationship" Then go platonizify a married couple or something. No one's fucking stopping you.
Like I do it all the time, no regrets. Eren and Misaka? Sworn siblings. Naruto and Hinata? Lavender marriage. Star and Marco? What ball, never heard of it. Not even just to make way for a ship I like, genuinely just enjoy these characters more as friends.
