๐ธ Backstory/About ๐ธ
Anja is a high-ranking archangel and vice president of the East Coast branch of the HAA. She oversees the office with the assistance of her secretary and messenger, Timothy. Cutthroat and ambitious as she is, one might be surprised she settled for merely vice president, but everyone in the branch knows the vice president is the one who really runs the show, the president being no more than a figurehead, only consulted for decisions as a courtesy.
Anja was not always stationed at this branch but was transferred a long time ago from a unit from somewhere in Eastern Europe. She has never told anyone why she was moved, or if it was she who decided to move from there. Any time the subject is brought up, she expertly maneuvers the conversation around the subject of her past. From her general hard-heartedness, however, it is clear the circumstances were not pleasant. Since Anja has been in the States for so long now, her accent is nearly imperceptible, but sometimes hints of it return when she is angry, tired, or upset.
In her leadership, Anja is relentlessly stringent, pushing everyone to their limits to get the job done. Although this may seem ruthless, she expects no more of anyone than she does of herself. This doesnโt help much, though, since she puts a job well done over everything, including the well-being of herself and everyone else around her. The HAA always has lots to do, monitoring and documenting the goings on of both warrior archangels and guardian angels as well as lots of reports, performance figures, and maintaining connections between groups within the organization. Anja oversees a lot at once and her cool calm demeanor makes her seem practically invincible in the face of stress and toil.ย
However, when the pressure starts to get to her, anger is what tends to come out firstโfrustration that she canโt seem to be able to get things to work as planned. Unfortunately, poor Timothy takes the brunt of this. She becomes moody and snappish, getting some kind of cruel satisfaction from making him squirm, as if knowing he's under her control makes her feel better about herself. She knows he has feelings for her, but uses them to her advantage as leverage with no intention of reciprocation. She takes him fully for granted.
However, in quiet moments, she finds herself wondering why he sticks around after everything she puts him through. Many people have come and gone from the position before him, being either fired, or quitting because of the pressure. Perhaps itโs only a matter of time. Heโs just efficient enough for her to keep on, and maybe thereโs something else, but she would die before admitting it, even to herself.
