okay but taking accountability for your alters IS hard sometimes and im tired of people being like "its not that hard to just take accountability."

while i 1000% believe that alters need to take accountability for eachother, its okay to be like "damn this sucks" like. yes you have to do it anyway even if it sucks. you cannot say "oh i cant control it" or "yeah this alter is just like that. sorry :/" and use that as an excuse to keep harming someone. BUT its okay to be like "this is a struggle for us. this is really hard." because it is. healing is hard. it's okay to acknowledge that.

Jennifer...people are STILL being murdered for being queer, the UK is passing a law that will basically make it legal for authority figures to sexually harass trans people, countries are petitioning to and actively going through with rolling back queer rights. We have bigger things to worry about than whether someone who prefers to be addressed with male or masculine terms can or can't be a lesbian.

System accountability is important yes but also you arent allowed to be shocked or say "but I apologised for what that alter did" if the person you apologise to asks for a direct apology from the headmate that hurt them...also if that headmate "isnt someone who apologises" you need to work on that with the headmate DRASTICALLY.

Why do I believe this? Because one of my old headmates (who is now dormant for one reason or another) was told to kill himself (not as a joke) by an alter in another system, and, we wanted both an apology from the system and an apology from the alter (for..obvious reasons I feel) and this system said "she's not one who apologises you'll just have to make do with a collective apology" which yeah okay ig we DID have to just make do with a collective apology but it didnt feel like it was enough.

If you have headmated who wont apologise for how they act, or (as a bare minimum) acknowledge that what they did/said was harmful then you need to work on that. You need to work out why they feel like they dont need to apologise for hurting people.

Remember that whilst not everyone in your system has to be friends with everyone, they DO owe everyone basic manners/kindness/civility.

As someone who tends to be pessimistic i think there is a real fine line between being pessimistic or nihilistic and being willfully/purposefully ignorant to the harm that people do.

And continuing that thought I think more people cross that line more often than this platform acknowledges/calls out because its become normalised/glorified/excused to ignore/not care about things like ableism or queerphobia if your reason for not caring is something vaguely akin to pessimism or nihilism.
