2014 was trumpeted as the warmest year EVER. However according to your Ministry of Truth the chances are actually quite slim, and they don't "agree" either. There used to be a "scientific" consensus that the Earth was flat, lest we forget.

US ends ban on 'domestic propaganda'
This is from July 2013. It is now open season on the American public.
The U.S. government's mammoth broadcasting arm has begun the "unleashing of thousands of hours per week of government-funded radio and TV programs for domestic U.S. consumption," John Hudson of Foreign Policy reported on Sunday.
The content arrives with the enactment of the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012, sponsored by Rep. Mac Thornberry (R- Texas) and Rep. Adam Smith (D- Wash.), which was inserted into the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

States won’t reveal ObamaCare rate hikes for 2015 until after election
Freaking Fantastic
Those planning to purchase health insurance on the Obamacare exchange will soon find out how much rates have increased — after the Nov. 4 election.
Enrollment on the Healthcare.gov website begins Nov. 15, or 11 days after the midterm vote, and critics who worry about rising premium hikes in 2015 say that’s no coincidence. Last year’s inaugural enrollment period on the health-care exchange began Oct. 1.
“This is more than just a glitch,” said Tim Phillips, president of free-market Americans for Prosperity, in a Friday statement. “The administration’s decision to withhold the costs of this law until after Election Day is just more proof that Obamacare is a bad deal for Americans.”

Global warming likely to cause colder and snowier winters, scientists say
One of my favorite headlines.
Scientists now believe that global warming is to blame for extreme cold snaps in North America during the winter months – and that it will only keep happening. The "polar vortex" that plunged Canada and the U.S. into historical cold last winter is said by researchers to have occurred because melting polar ice changes weather patterns, according to a study published earlier this month. A team of Korean and American scientists asserted in a new study that the melting ice causes the northern jet stream (upper level air flow) to shift south and bring polar air with it. The polar ice is melting because warmer water is riding the Gulf Stream (ocean currents) from tropical regions of the Atlantic Ocean to an area north of Scandinavia.

America's Raging Pharmaceutical Nightmare
Sobering statistics.
#1 According to the New York Times, more than 30 million Americans are currently taking antidepressants.
#2 The rate of antidepressant use among middle aged women is far higher than for the population as a whole. At this point, one out of every four women in their 40s and 50s is taking an antidepressant medication.
#3 Americans account for about five percent of the global population, but we buy more than 50 percent of the pharmaceutical drugs.
#4 Americans also consume a whopping 80 percent of all prescription painkillers.
#5 It is hard to believe, but doctors in the United States write 259 million prescriptions for painkillers each year. Prescription painkillers are some of the most addictive legal drugs, and our doctors are serving as enablers for millions up0n millions of Americans that find themselves hooked on drugs that they cannot kick.
#6 Overall, pharmaceutical drug use in America is at an all-time high. According to a study conducted by the Mayo Clinic, nearly 70 percent of all Americans are on at least one prescription drug, and 20 percent of all Americans are on at least five prescription drugs.
#7 According to the CDC, approximately 9 out of every 10 Americans that are at least 60 years old say that they have taken at least one prescription drug within the last month.
#8 In 2010, the average teen in the United States was taking 1.2 central nervous system drugs. Those are the kinds of drugs which treat conditions such as ADHD and depression.

Common Core Scrap Paper
by Adam Curry
Posted on April 23d 2014 at 11:07pm
My students began their second round of State Testing today. This is a PARCC computer based test that is developed and sold by Pearson. I have attached a piece of "scrap" paper that Pearson provides for the test. Each piece has a barcode on it and we need to count out the number of sheets we hand out to ensure that we get the same number back. If a student writes anything on the sheet, even a couple scratch lines, we need to mail it back to Pearson (we pay the postage ourselves of course) so they can properly dispose of it.
The big joke at my school among the teachers is how much our district probably paid for this scratch paper. The test itself has good questions that focus on specific skills we have been working on this year, but it is administered in such a cold, sterile way that I fear it just turns kids off to the idea of reading material to gain deeper understanding. It breaks my heart when I see kids struggle through questions on these tests and still pick the worng answer because I know I am not allowed to stop them, question their thinking, and help guide them to a correct answer.
