Wakko's smile was soft, staring up at the tree. "How long has it been since we've been here?"
From beside him, Dot was holding a flower pot, chuckling lightly. "Years?" She guessed as her gaze landed on a pink flora-designed windchime. "I don't know. I'm glad we found it, though."
The eldest was on the other side of his sister. A wave of nostalgia hit him when he replied to them, "Yeah..." His voice trailed off, a feeling akin to wistfulness the more he surveyed the tree of their childhood.
"Do you two remember when we used to gather trinkets?" Yakko asked, walking over to the root of the tree and knelt down. With his gloved hands, he picked up a few medium-sized rocks with flat surfaces and placed them on top of each other near the roots.
"You mean the rocks, feathers, glass, and beads tied with strings?" Wakko asked, tilting his head slightly.
"*Trinkets,*" Dot sang the word as she placed the pot of *orchids* on top of the rock her brother arranged. "But yeah, I think I remember dad climbing up to hang them, or was it mom?"
Yakko snickered, smirking ever so smugly. "It was dad at first, but when I came along and grew of age, *I* get to climb this beauty and hang our treasures."
"I'm surprised they haven't fallen yet." Dot sassed, placing a hand on her hip and checking her gloves on the other. Wakko snickered, not guilty of laughing at his brother.
The brother being laughed at rolled his eyes playfully and sat at the root of the tree. He didn't block the orchids, letting it be present, as if it's one with them. The twins grinned and sat close to him. Dot to his left and Wakko in front.
All of them looked up above them. Four different colored windchimes: purple, yellow, blue, and pink. Despite their faded colors, they still look breathtaking to see. Even better than when they were kids.
A peaceful silence swept over them. Memories upon memories from their childhood resurfaced the more the looked at each and every trinket hanged from the branches.
When Yakko's eyes landed on the colorful jellyfish windchime, he perked up.
He caught the twins' attention. Grinning, he asked them, "Did you know-"
Dot cut him off, "No, we don't."
"Real comedian, sis, proud of ya." Yakko snickered. "But I'm serious about this. Before you two were born and was still in mom's tummy, I remember her singing a poem she wrote for you two."
The middle child tilted his head, interested and inquisitive. "A poem? For us?"
He nodded his head. "I forgot all about it after everything that happened." He glanced back up to the purple windchime. "But being here with you two? The tree and windchimes? I think I can remember it."
"What's the poem?" The youngest asked, leaning closer. She, too, was interested. "You swear it was mom singing it and not you?"
He merely gave her a raised brow, not saying anything. This made the twins laugh.
The eldest gave them a few moments to calm down. Once they paid attention again, he began;
*"My beloved orchids, bright and true,
Bloom with rays of sun and morning dew.
You're not here yet, but I hope you knew,
How much mommy, daddy, and brother loves you."*
*"My bundle of joys, my orchids, my sweethearts,
We will stay by your side, never far apart.
But if ever there will be a time that we need to depart,
Remember that we will always be in your hearts."*
*"Forever and ever, come what may,
Everything will be okay."*
Then ever so softly, they heard a chime of bells. They turned their head to see two bells, tied and hanged with faded red and purple strings.
Dot's eyes dilated, smiling in disbelief. "Is that...?"
All of them felt a warm sensation drape them like a hug. Behind Yakko, the orchids bloomed ever so slightly, as if it was alive.
Yakko opened his mouth slightly in a silent gasp. Then, the corner of his lips tugged upward. He felt an itch in his eyes, the itch to tear up, but he held it in. Not in front of his siblings.
"Happy Mother's Day, mom."
