literally no clue who this man is and im just using this post as a jumping off point to talk about a much bigger issue. but i think if you believe that we as a society should be working toward a future where all clothing is considered gender neutral (which i hope? we all do? seeing as its a fairly banal liberal concept atp), you should start at home by not being overly critical and analytical every time you see a man in “feminine” clothing. people are always seeing a man wear a skirt or a dress or lace or frills or florals and thinking “i need to have an Opinion on this” and then saying shit like “this is queerbaiting” or “hes not changing the world with an outfit hes so full of himself” or “he thinks hes the first guy to ever do this” or “because what we really need right now is another straight white man in a skirt” or “this outfit actually looks like shit lol he thought he ate” and i think. like. has it ever occurred to you that hes just wearing an outfit bc he likes it and wants to. maybe hes trying to make a statement, bc in this society a man wearing something like that is always going to be a statement whether he likes it or not. and a celebrity is always going to be scrutinized and accused of being performative and fake. but you have to understand what it looks like when you are incapable of seeing a man in traditionally feminine clothing without ridiculing him, even if youre ridiculing him for… idk. not being “good” at it? or not meaning it enough?? bc you decided that was the case??
