Anxiety doesn’t come with a manual and it never waits for you to be prepared for its arrival. It’s unpredictable, it’s frustrating and you have little to no control over it. When you are consumed with anxiety, remember you are not alone. Talk to someone, anyone. Sometimes just talking about those things that make you anxious can help. I’ve said it before but you shouldn’t feel silly or ashamed about something that you have no control of. It’s perfectly ok to no be ok! I find that in situations where I have little to no control over, that my anxiety becomes unruly. These past few weeks have been particularly difficult. Taking advice from my 9 year old, I’ve been using a weighted blanket from @bedsurehome (she’s never without hers) and whilst my anxiety is still there, it’s made a big improvement. I’m not going to lie, I’ve found this past week difficult. My anxiety has been spiralling and I’m honestly struggling with isolation but there’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve come to realise that it’s completely ok to feel out of control, it’s ok to have days where you struggle because we are human. It’s ok to no be ok! I think it’s important to realise when you are not ok. Take some time out for yourselves, if it’s just 5 minutes in the garden with a cup of tea, reading a book, taking a bath etc those moments of down time are important, it’s a little bit of self care that we all need right now. If you chose to stay in your pyjamas all day, that’s ok. If you can’t muster the energy to anything other than showering in the morning, that’s ok too. How you cope on this situation is completely your choice and you shouldn’t feel bad or ashamed for it. My mantra has been “Safe at home, not stuck at home”, and each day I’m trying to remind myself of that. There’s a lot of us taking on the task of home schooling with the current school closures in the UK. This week I’ve discovered a love of Yoga, I’ve attempted to get into it a few times over the years but it’s just never really clicked.
