PLOT DROP III.
The second morning has dawned and all seems to be well as every carefully peeks their heads out of their compartments to make sure that there has no been a terrible event over the night. Some might have seen Dorothy exit from Vika’s compartment, but Vika exited in fine condition shortly afterwards. This garnered some suspicious looks from the attendant but everyone was merely glad that there was no bloodshed during the cover of night.
The doctor rose earlier than anyone else in an attempt to talk with the attendant and get a second look at the body. And when he finally agreed she returned to her compartment to grab her case only to report it open and she swears she left it closed. She is convinced that there is something missing or moved but she doesn’t know what yet. She’s taking inventory at the moment.
The attendant has done an extra search of the victim's room and this morning he announced that he found a particularly important piece of paper: the ledger of Charles Sheridans debts which he will be turning into the police when they arrive in Paris. He did not verbally recite the names but his pointed glances at Jimmy and Eleanour were enough to make everyone turn and stare.
And most importantly, the knife was found. The bloody knife was stashed behind a chair in the lounge. It’s clear it was one of the steak knives from the kitchen. Two people ordered steak on the first day and would have been given knives with their meal. It is possible that they kept one of the knives on hand so that it would be cleared away with their plates. But the doctor also entered the kitchen car on the first day. So that points suspicion in the direction of the three who had access to the knife used.
