✨ My Chemical Romance, Bonn, 17.06.2022 ✨

It’s been ten long years of waiting, but I finally saw MCR live - and they were amazing!!! <3333

Back in June, I made a shirt design for myself for the concert in Bonn - and now I made another one inspired by the concert itself! :D

I stared this the week after the show and it took me a whole month to finish it, but I'm rather proud of how it turned out! 😊

This is based on four of my own very small photos of the guys from the Bonn show. While I mostly used them for reference while drawing, I also wanna say thanks to @robbin-chan, who posted some pics from the gig that helped me figure out what this specific guitar of Frank’s looked like. ^^ I also used this color palette for some things, such as the writing and some shading. The quote is from the Dublin 2 show, actually - it’s been stuck in my head ever since I saw this video and, to me, symbolizes what I loved best about the gig and this tour - how genuinely happy the guys are now; it really does show. ❤️

The Birth of Copia

Way back in January, I hurt my right hand and I couldn’t draw - or do much in general without pain - with it. Then a friend’s recommendation got me into Ghost and their music really helped me through a time when I felt quite down and restless as I thought I wouldn’t be able to pursue any of my hobbies for quite some time (which was mostly true). But then I bought tickets to a Re-Imperatour ritual and spent the next two months working on this shirt design with my left hand instead. Needless to say, it tested my patience a lot at times, but my left-handed drawing improved quite a bit and I had a lot of fun, which was something I greatly needed at that time. My right hand is better - although not fully healed yet - and I’m seeing Ghost next week (!!!) and I shall be wearing my self-made shirt. <3

Today in things that give me a sour/queasy feeling…

If it’s genuinely a coincidence, so be it. And I know I hold no copyright for Boticelli’s original that served as inspiration for my shirt design- but if someone saw my drawing and took inspiration from it for official merch? (The clothing choices, the flames from below, the halo-like background lighting for example really made me pause and wonder…) Then honestly, screw that. :((

It’s been a week since they added the new collection on their UK and US store websites and I wrote the US store support a kind (bc ik store support’s most likely not responsible for merch design) mail explaining why this had me wonder and asking for them to please get back to me regarding this, and all I got was a two-sentence mail: “Unfortunately, we do not handle customer support for the UK Merch Store. I apologize for the inconvenience.”

I sent them a short reply asking for an answer nevertheless (my original mail liked to the site for preordering the shirt in the UK store bc the US store hadn’t updated their website to their autumn collection yet at that time; they did that within the hour I sent my mail though) and CC’d the UK store as well, just in case, but so far, I haven’t heard back again from them since last Friday. :(

Look, I love Ghost but this makes me feel really shitty. If it’s a coincidence, just say so, if not, at least admit to it, ugh.

Well, here's a tiny update in order to say "I keep getting ignored by both merch store support teams".

I got a reply from someone from the UK store support on September 27th, saying they'd look into this, then nothing. I got no reply then or to my mail from Oct 31st, just a "rate this employee" mail that wasn't even for the store support team member who wrote me back once. I wrote yet another mail on Nov 15 asking if they could just give me some sort of reply because this matter has been taken any joy Ghost has given me (and they really helped me through a rough time this year) and I got yet another reply saying they'd look into matters on Nov 16. Nothing since.

At this point I'm just. Really annoyed. I keep my mails nice because this is not the store support's fault, but getting ignored like this just makes me feel?? Worse??

They could tell me whatever, I guess, and it wouldn't feel this crappy and probably make it seem at least somewhat less fishy than just. Avoiding me altogether.

Not sure if anyone else has any idea what to do at this point, I'm just. Beyond frustrated.

(Seeing the Venus Copia shirt from the store in the merch mails and on Insta and seeing people being excited about it really just. Hurts. FFS.)
