NPC: Murphy ‘Murph’ Reilly

It wasn’t so long ago the young man was one of the most promising hunters churned out by the order. His eidetic memory coupled with his overtly logical approach had him rising quickly amongst the ranks; however, despite his quick rise he wasn’t meant to hold the hill for very long.

After a couple years of hunting, he went out on an expedition with two others after picking some intel. The information had been forced through false channels and ended up being a horrific ambush. It was rumored Murph was the only hunter to walk away or at least a shell of him. The young man dropped from the scene completely as he ran to the west coast. The order desperately searched for him but found the hunter was well versed in his training. Eventually, the news made its way to Boden who decided to take up the cause and try to locate the kid.

After months of false leads and dead ends, he found him in the last place he expected: an Apple Store working as a Genius. Murph had always loathed the cult of the brand and had been quite vocal about it. So immersing himself in it only proved how far away he intended to stay. The two men shared a couple of conversations, but Boden was never able to get much out Murph about what flung him so violently to leave the order and bug out. The most the young man would say on the matter was, “Everything was inside out.” It was beyond evident the Murph was suffering from the traumatic experience. Boden did his best to convince him there was life after the order and made the offer if he ever came home to seek him out.

Several months passed before Murph did just that; darkening the doorway to his apartment. He stayed for a few weeks before finding a job and then his own place. Murph does his damnedest to stay away from the supernatural, but they always seemed to find a way to him. While he doesn’t actively hunt any longer he’s been known to provide tech assistance to those in need. Currently, he’s working in an IT department in a big-box corporation while working on his license to become a private detective.

They’re simple enough because I’m not one for bullshit. I’m not a follow to follow blog, or to say just because you follow me that I will return the favor. I’m selective of who I reach out to write with, but will do my best to answer any serious reply to an open starter.

Unfortunately I don’t care for gif chatting, and tend to write either in para or multi-para style. I value substance, and don’t see any in writing a single sentence.

I will not rp with anyone under 18 years so please be respectful and don’t approach. Boundaries for smut are dependent on individual basis, and may occur only after a rapport is established. I’ve no problems or qualms with fading to black.

This blog will undoubtedly have several triggering topics such as but not limited to: gore, sex, violence, abuse, horror, and illicit crime. I will do my best to tag, but know if you go diving in you may come across such subject matter. Please mutuals notify me of any triggers and I will diligently work to tag accordingly.

Glass Lake Asylum: Patient

Murph has resided at Glass Lake Asylum for the last two years after a body turned up down state. Working as a soda jerk down at the local drugstore his days were kept busy earning his keep, but it was the night which he looked forward to the most. The young man was quite a brilliant writer and spent his evenings feverishly putting the most macabre things he could conjure to paper. More often than not he spent his days lost in a daydream waiting till he could sit in front his typewriter letting go of his mundane existence as he created a whole other word. Gifted with his art he sent out his stories cautiously selecting the more reader friendly ones. Life seemed to be going well as he made a name for himself after several stories were picked up in both in national digests and mystery magazines. There was even a invitation from Hollywood from one of the big movie houses requesting a siting. On the cusp of having it all is when everything went wrong. A mutilated body was found on a school merry-go-round, and a young officer at the scene found the whole thing reminiscent of a story he had recently read. Unfortunately, Murphy Reilly happen to be the author, and despite a continual denial of the murder he was deemed not fit to stand trial, and had spent last couple of years rotting away in the home for the insane.

First Date || Murphy & Max

Max dressed and redressed three times before finally settling on what to wear, at least for five minutes. Another glance in the mirror and she still wasn’t sure. Murphy would be at the apartment any minute to take her on a date, and while she loved the idea of being surprised by him she wished she knew if she was dressed alright. Max didn’t date, hadn’t really had official dates with Adam, and not really before that. Besides that she really liked Murphy and wanted this to work. Once again wishing Lennon wasn’t in class so she could get her sister’s opinion she decided with a resolute nod that she would keep on what she had. Running into the bathroom she brushed her hair out and took another ten minutes to get that the way she wanted it. Finn was sitting on the couch watching her run around and she would swear he was laughing at how crazy she was acting; well he would be if dogs could laugh. Jumping when she heard the knock she looked at Finn who now had his ears perked up at the idea of company, because company might mean a treat for him. Shaking her head at him she chuckled, “He’s coming to take me out, not bring you something you shouldn’t eat.”

Opening the door she bit at her lip and looked up at Murphy. He looked quite handsome and she felt a small flutter in her stomach, nervous again that everything would work out. “I just have to grab my purse, come on in.” Finn had risen from the couch and come over to greet the guest and sniff him for treats. “He doesn’t bite; he’s just looking for a treat. He has to watch his weight and he’s always looking for a snack.” Grabbing her bag she came back over to Murphy, “Am I dressed ok?” She asked softly, pulling at her skirt slightly.

Murph had just finished his call verifying his reservations at the five star restaurant he’d only ever heard about. His goal tonight was impress, and win Maxwell over considering the last time they met up she witnessed him walk into a wall. Straightening his tie before he finally stopped pacing in front of her apartment door he gazed down at the flowers. It wasn’t the best place for two young women to be living, but Murph had rested his head in worse places. Finally working up his nerve he knocked on the door, and was overly pleased when it swung open and was he greeted by Max. So much so he forgot to momentarily speak. Glad she hadn’t forgotten he stepped in upon invitation. With the her back turned he finally managed to push out, “Hey,” The curious pup at his side wagged its tail, and Murph bent down to pet him as he cooed, “I’ve heard a lot about you buddy.” Looking up at the question he couldn't help catch her pull her skirt and smiled. She was nervous as well which bizarrely made him feel all the sudden calm. “You look more than okay. You look beautiful.” Remembering his gifts he held out his hand with the flowers and reached into his jacket pocket pulling out a box of Sour Patch Kids. “I brought you these.”

Not wanting to be late for the reservations or the plans for afterwards he cleared his throat after an awkward moment. “Maybe we should get going.” Turning around to the door he opened it, and held it for her. Suddenly it struck him that he should’ve asked this question earlier, “Max you can eat seafood can’t you?”
