Hello! I’m Murp! I’m obsessed with Phantom Blood (specifically Jonathan Joestar) so if I post or reblog here, it’s probably just gonna be Jonathan Joestar related. Reblogs and likes are all cool!!! I’m also on bluesky as obscure-noises, I post more about other interests and ocs there!
HIHIHI!! I love your Lethan edits and memes so much omg!! Thanks so much for asking!! I’m a little basic when it comes to my Lethan headcannons. I kinda just nod my head along with whatever everyone else says, because people are way smarter than me at thinking up hcs. One thing I always obsess over whenever I go mad about a character is what kind of music the character listens to though, so I’ll just gush a little about that.
Leon is dad rock, 100%, no further questions your honour. I don’t think anyone dislikes his taste in music (at least I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t like dad rock), so Ethan wouldn’t care if Leon takes over as DJ. Some of the music I think Leon would listen to would be by Bruce Springsteen, The Ramones, Tom Petty, Jimi Hendrix, CCR, stuff like that. I think he’d listen to louder, more intense music if he was working out or something. Maybe Dead Kennedy’s, Sex Pistols, Bad Brains.
Many a Leon-brow has been raised when Ethan is in control of the player, however. I love the hc that Ethan is a jazz-guy. I also love the hc that he can play piano, so obviously I have to include Dave Brubeck in my silly list that I’m only making up now. Other bands/artists I think he’d listen to would be Weather Report, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, (these are all so basic I’m sorry I don’t listen to the genre as much as I should). Also I get the feeling that Ethan would be interested in classical music from the Romantic Era as well, so composers like Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Berlioz, and Mahler. I don’t think Leon dislikes jazz and classical music, but it’s not the first thing he’d think to put on, so he always gets surprised when Ethan pulls out some easy-listening or maybe big-band jazz stuff.
The artists/bands that i think both of them enjoy would be Nick Drake, Bill Withers, Smashing Pumpkins, America, Fleetwood Mac, John Martyn, David Bowie, (maybe Johnny Flynn as well?) and other stuff like that. A good mix of both genres, in my opinion.
Thank you sososo much for asking!! Lethan is one of my fav silly crackships!! <3
what if through some magic shenanigans or whatnot erina transformed into a mermaid too?
I was considering a blue tail as well but her dinner dress on the cruise is just so iconic I had to do a red tail instead! I fell asleep just after I finished this late last night (not even - her bra thingy still isn’t shaded at all but who cares) and I had this weirdddd dream and all I remember about it is that I started crying when Erina and Jonathan showed up with George II. Anyway, Erina is perfect and deserves everything and more after the absolute shitshow she was put through in pb and bt.
This is a quick glance into my brain as I tackle preparing for graduation next Thursday, and studying for final exams in two weeks time, drawn using dumb hcs for the pb cast.
I will hopefully have something done for next week I’m tipping away at a mer!Erina thing because I got a couple asks about it. Okay bye.
does vampire jonathan still know dio? whats their relationship like.. are they both vampires or just jojo?
This took me too long to respond to and sorry I have no art. Upcoming exams and procrastinating you know how it is. I’m going to be honest- I never really think about Dio’s role in like any of my aus. I don’t even think of a plot I just have scenes in my head that I think look cool or something. I think if Dio became a vampire but like- the same vampire he is in jjba he’d be kinda pissed Jonathan got wings and he didn’t.
I asked before when Jonathan should turn into a vampire and I was told that it should be during his confrontation with Dio after Ogre Street in the Joestar mansion. Which I have actually thought about. Because imagine being George. Again, I think of way too many possibilities and never do anything with them.
So you have literally just discovered that your adopted son has been poisoning you for the past seven years and your other son has given you the antidote. You hear a commotion from downstairs and go to see what’s happening. Jimminy Cricket the son that has been poisoning you has just murdered the son that cured you using the mask you bought with your dead wife. And then the murdered son grows a pair of fucking wings and runs away. Tragedy!!!
If Dio did also become a vampire then obviously Jonathan would go to kill him. Dio would 100% do the exact same thing he did in jjba. I think their relationship would be fairly similar to the normal story, maybe Jonathan is slightly more desperate to kill Dio or something I don’t know. But like- imagine vampire!Jonathan having to team up with Very Much Hates Vampires And Can Also Kill Them With His Bare Hands Zeppeli. I think I’ve thought more about that than anything else but of course I can’t draw anything I want to draw that’s just too easy isn’t it???
Anyway- thank you for the ask!! I like having to think about things with my aus for once- even though I don’t think this answers your question at all (sorry).
It’s a sad Vampire!Jonathan!! He has about three threads of sanity keeping him together- let’s see how he manages!!
Also just something stupid I doodled because the reference photo was too good to pass up- I think I’ve maybe mentioned how I wish there was more from the Hamon training week and this is honestly some bs Zeppeli would pull if he could.
Sorry I didn’t post anything for Jonathan’s birthday this year I quite literally do not have anything new to post and it’s already the 6th so whoops. Anyway, a song that I think is like. The Jonathan Song for me (at least for now) is “Blue Monday” by New Order. I might be misinterpreting it completely, but I think the song fits Jonathan and Dio’s relationship pretty well (for the most part?? I don’t really analyse songs that deeply). Also it’s kind of mysterious sounding which fits Jonathan’s vibe imo, and it’s just a good song like. Anyway, rant over. I must make myself arsed to study for exams and stop feeling ill all the time about everything.
Jonathan Joestar and Ethan Winters are currently having the battle of the century in my brain as to who can be the bigger obsession. It’s leaving me actually unable to draw anything I’m devastated.
I SAW YOUR PHANTOM BLOOD POST WHERE YOU COMPARE JONATHAN JOESTAR TO JESUS AND ID LIKE TO HEAR MORE OF YOUR OPINION ALSO HI HELLO I LIKE JONATHAN A LOT!!!!!!!
(I apologize greatly for the late reply to this. My jojo fixation only comes back in big short burst. And my crochet addiction has kept me trapped. Thank you for your patience! 🙇)
Okay, I want to preface this with my writing skills aren't the best. So any typos, ignore them for my own sanity, unless they ruin the understanding of the writing. I wanna also mention, I’ll be talking about my reasons as to why Jonathan fits a Jesus archetype, not being a complete 1:1 version of Jesus. There are many Jonathan style protagonists that are Jesus-esque or directly inspired.
Secondly, I raised Mormon, yes I am an ex-Mormon, so my understanding on some Christian topics/symbolism and meanings may have gone over my head. I am not religiously Christian, NONE of what I say here is meant to offend, this is just an over analysis of some themes in an anime I find interesting.
Lastly and most obviously, this is about Jojo’s Bizarre adventure…none of this analysis was actually intended by Araki. Jojo isn’t that serious, I just like over thinking things. THIS IS ALL MY OWN THOUGHTS! With all that out of the way, let’s yap!
-The Mask is the Original Sin-
Instead of an apple being eaten (which yes, I know is a metaphor), I think the mask is a physical representation of the first sin. The general idea of the hubris that is needed for even considering challenging your humanity. To become a god. To know this forbidden wisdom that comes from using the mask.
I love that the mask is used by piercing the skull. I feel like symbolically, biting into an apple, and the mask stabbing you, puts you in the position of the apple. You are the one being bitten. Which makes it a more physical representation of the consequences. Your humanity is being eaten away. And your punishment for taking part in this is, is to be cast out from normal life. You can no longer see the sun. You are a demon.
-The Birth of Jesus-
At the start of the manga, when it's showing the flashback of Dario trying to rob George, I personally view this as a more violent rendition of the birth of Jesus.
This is the start of Jonathan's story, he wouldn't be who he is without this fundamental moment as a baby. It shapes him into a man whose whole goal is embodying goodness and a gentlemanly way of life.
So with Jonathan being baby Jesus, his parents would be playing the roles of Joseph and Mary. Coincidently, Jonathan's mom's name is Mary. Both parents face a challenge involving safety for their child. Joseph and Mary searching for shelter during the birth, and George asking for the graces of Dario to help them out of the crashed carriage. The support they got may have not been the best, but it worked.
This incident is what births Jonathan future. The mask being there to witness this, the original sin, literally becomes Jonathan’s whole life goal to save humanity from its impact.
(Sidenote, if you are under the belief that Jesus wasn’t actually born on Christmas. Jonathan was born April 4th. Which I know is the month some people believe to be when Jesus was born.)
-His Goodness-
Jonathan was a rowdy kid, but his general motivation for his actions was being gentlemanly and good. Being a gentleman is like his rules for righteousness.
Dio being his foil highlights how good Jonathan is supposed to be seen. Dio is basically the devil, abusing and trying to beat down Jesus/Jonathan, for his own power and control. While Jonathan is doing all he can to protect people from Dio impact, trying to take accountability for Dio’s actions by stopping him.
Jonathan can see the ultimate good in people. Even when he’s younger, with the bullies, he knows that Dio is a big motivator for some of their actions. It’s all Dio, and what he represents.
Jonathan isn’t afraid to defend the helpless and the innocent, while also being open and kind to people who have wronged him.
Erina was a strong-willed, hardworking woman. Who never outright wronged Jonathan, but was shown to be more of a societal punching bag. (There's a lot I could say about Erina, but this isn’t a discussion about misogyny and feminism in the jojoverse.) Main points, any of the harassment Erina deal with is always sexual in nature. She was literally sexually assaulted by Dio. This being framed as Dio taking something from her, that Jonathan will never love her now that she is tainted. The impact of the assault pushes Erina away from Jonathan. Jonathan never blamed her, or shamed her, or looked down on her. He knew Dio had hurt her and was ready to fight Dio to protect her honor. Jonathan always viewed Erina with love and respect, no matter what happened.

Speedwagon was a member of a violent gang in London. The members, and him, were actively trying to kill and rob Jonathan. But Jonathan stood strong with his convictions and was merciful to them. Because of this, Speedwagon calls for a stop to the fight. Seeing how good of a man Jonathan was, and how righteous of a cause he had. Speedwagon repents of his actions and devotes the rest of his life to helping Jonathan and the Joestar family. He becomes a priest that preaches the good will of the Joestar family. This change in Speedwagon’s life leads him to be blessed with good fortune and success. He becomes the riches man in the world.

Poco was a cowardly, and picked on kid, who ends up stealing from Jonathan. In their pursuit to regain their items, Poco leads them into a trap set by Dio. Instead of being angry and punishing him, Jonathan protects Poco from zombies, and even helps find his sister. Jonathan forgave and understood Poco wasn’t being malicious, because he was literally being brainwashed by Dio. Jonathan goes out of his way to help Poco, he almost dies several times in pursuit of this. After meeting Jonathan, Poco learns how to be brave and uses it to try and help Jonathan in the fight against Tarkus.

Bruford was a knight for Mary, Queen of Scots, and his loyalty to her ran strong. Bruford accepted a deal for his own execution, in exchange for the life of Mary to be spared. He was sadly betrayed, and the devastation of this knowledge led him to die with resentment towards the world. Dio uses his abilities to raise Bruford from the dead, turning him into a zombie vampire. Dio saw the pain and anger he held, and used it to manipulate Bruford into being his pawn. Jonathan, in the fight with Bruford, almost dies multiple times. Bruford is actively trying to kill him. But Jonathan treats him with understanding and respect, acknowledging his pride as a warrior, and showing sympathy for his pain. Jonathan humanizing Bruford, during their battle, leads to him forgiving the past, and moving on with peace. Jonathan morns Bruford, even after everything, he saw how virtuous Bruford was, he was just corrupted by his pain and the mask.
-Followers/Legacy-
Jesus had the 12 apostles, churches, temples and a whole religion. Plus an infinite number of past, present and future disciples. Does Jonathan follow a similar path? I would say kinda yeah, he does have followers and people that will sing his praise. People that have dedicated their lives to trying to make a safer and better world because of Jonathan’s influence. Obviously Jonathan doesn’t have like a “religion” or like churches, or distinct 12 apostles. But he has an impactful world changing legacy, that people have followed, and in a way worshiped.
Jonathan’s death is the motivating factor for the Speedwagon Foundation to be even built. In a way, you could consider it a temple in honor of the Joestar bloodline.
A bloodline that naturally inherits Jonathan’s goodwill, and is used in their own battles against good and evil. Some of them even with the help of the Speedwagon Foundation. They work together to continue the righteous legacy.
-Miracles-
Jesus in his time preformed many miracles, walking on water, turning water into wine, healing people, etc. If Jonathan “is Jesus”, did he preform any miracles? I would say yes he did.
Also, to add that even if the actions aren’t a complete parallel to miracles Jesus preformed, that they should still be considered miracles. They are Jonathan’s miracles. -Bullet points will be more obvious parallels, indents will be my own points that I consider miracles.-
When Jonathan first unlocks his hamon, it is used to completely heal his broken arm, and restore life to a tree, causing it to bloom. In Zeppeli's reaction to this, it's apparently a very impressive and an almost impossible feat.
After a JUST A WEEK of training, Jonathan fights Jack the Ripper, a serial killer and ghoul vampire that works for Dio. He ends up killing Jack, by using a glass of wine to detect his location, and then hitting him with hamon. Using wine to defeat a demon has to count as a miracle.
Jonathan does in fact walk on water. It's a little sloppy, but he does do it.
During the fight with Bruford, it's said that the hamon running through his body is destroying the zombie part of him, leaving behind his righteous human soul. Almost as if Jonathan is exorcizing Bruford of an evil spirit that was corrupting him. Jonathan healed Bruford of his pain and helped him pass on peacefully.
Creating a glider out of leaves, so he can fly to a safer location.
Surviving the challenge of the Two-headed Dragon, and defeating Tarkus. Which I would say anytime Jonathan kills a ghoul/vampire it could be interrupted as him banishing an evil spirit/demon, which is very miracle worthy. And Tarkus I think is the best example of this because in some panels he's drawn with devil horns, and Jonathan describes him as twisted, repulsive, and a wicked soul.
Jonathan heals his broken neck in the fight with Tarkus.
Jonathan getting bit by Doobie's snakes, but being able to expel the venom out of his veins.
-The Death of Jesus-
Alright, here’s the main part of this topic, Jonathan Joestar’s death. The final battle between Jonathan and Dio has always felt very biblical to me. The image of a dead Jonathan, softly smiling as he cradles Dio’s decapitated head, like he’s forgiving Dio, but also dying with Dio to take responsibility for his sins.
It feels almost purposefully biblical when during the fight Jonathan is hit by Dio’s eye lasers, giving him two distinct holes through his hands. Like dying on this sinking ship by Dio’s side is his cross.
Jonathan’s unrelenting goodness, even after witnessing Dio’s crimes, and experiencing the abuse Dio put him through, Jonathan’s dying breath is of wanting to grant Dio mercy. Of mourning this man he did care for, but felt he failed, to finally put an end their feud. I feel like the love Jonathan shows Dio, is that of Jesus when he was on the cross and expressed his love for the people who put him there.
And after all of that Erina being able to safely escape, and start on her own bible like journey to safety. On her makeshift Noah boat, Dio’s coffin, along with the children she carries, one boy and one girl, ready to find land and start to a new generation of Joestars.
Jonathan also I guess in a way, he was resurrected, if you wanna consider Dio stealing his body, as Jonathan coming back from the dead lol. It wasn’t as quick as 3 days lol but hey can you blame him? He was deep in the ocean locked in a coffin lol.

ANYWAY, that’s it from me. I’m sure there are things I forgot to bring up or things I could expand on. But I took waaaayyy too long to write this up and wanted to just get it out. I also got really unmotivated when I tried to make it a bit more serious and look for bible quotes. This was ment to be fun not academic lol.
My last post of the year I finally got it done hooray!! I’ve been working on it on and off for ages but I only got it done this morning because I stayed up all night shading the water and listening to bad music. Yeah. Don’t have much else to say other than please let this year end??
