Sometimes I get really sad about not being able to go to college. Or feeling like I can't because even the start process is so overwhelming and I have 0 financial support outside of what I actually work for. I always imagined moving to a dorm and being a proper academic, making a better life for myself than what my family could provide on my own. I tried to apply to community college last winter and just feel like an idiot because I feel the need for someone to hold my hand throughout the process as an adult and it's embarrassing.

But I can get my education in other ways! I've been reading a lot more, albeit mainly fiction. But I recently finished Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake and it was incredible. It really opened my mind to how connected, physically, everything is. The chemical history and the technological advances of fungi is astounding. It also connected a lot of points for me in my line of work, gardening and nursery, of how plants and fungi actually work together to create healthy soil and wood-wide-web exchanges of minerals and carbon. Amazing read and quite a few goofy moments for a scientific memoir.

Anyway, I just have to prove to myself that I'm not stupid or dumb because I didn't go to college. It's about the thirst for knowledge, right?
