Just dropped a lot of money on a new wooden stick with horse hair to pair with my hollow wooden box with four steel strings
I took a week off practicing this one piece because of my current workload. Just looked at the piece this morning and it’s safe to say that I’m going to have to start from scratch again
if only I could absorb sheet music through osmosis…
Which applies to you?
any instrument primary, piano secondary
piano primary, any other instrument secondary
piano solos
any instrument that’s not the piano solos
I accidentally fell asleep while doing my Microsoft Access homework and I had a dream that I started with the violin instead of piano. I don’t remember any details but the anxiety I felt during that dream got so bad that I woke up and now I have to finish my homework
I spend $6,780 a year as a musician and I’m not even playing professionally. My sense of money has been warped so I can’t tell if this is a lot or little.
I am extremely stingy when it comes to spending money so I try to make my own meals and thrift. Music lessons though? No hesitation - I’ll pay whatever the amount. Music books? Take all my money.
For musicians that started young, ever wonder what life would be like if you weren’t a musician? Or musicians that started later, did music change anything for you? Tbh I think I would be super bored and unproductive all day
I can’t be the only musician that jumps on the “oh I don’t practice” train when in reality, I practice at least 2-3 hours a day 😭
It’s possible to forget your instrument at home as a strings, brass, winds, etc player. However, can pianists forget their instrument at home? No. You go to lesson and poof - it’s already there for you. Pianists attract, not chase. Moral of the story, piano is a superior instrument. Vocalists exist but you can lose your voice, so they’re sitting at rank 2.
Imagine being a musician and forgetting to bring your instrument to your lesson. I am unfortunately that musician.
