Business as usual for cityfolk, unfortunately. Sindre gives a brief, sympathetic grimace before stepping back into his apartment, one arm gesturing into the hallway. “Well, I’m glad to see you’re up and about, at least. Come in, I’ll get you something. Coffee? Tea?” It’s hard to hide the glow that radiates from him at the compliments - he’s easy to please like that, of course.
“You could’ve always just found a mirror, but I’m glad I sprung to your mind,” he teases, expression softening again. It’s been a while since he had surprise guests, but some things come naturally to him, and welcoming friends with something warm to drink is one of those - particularly in the shifting weather this season has brought him so far. The kitchen is only a brisk walk away, and he glances back at her to await an answer before he prepares anything.
“After seeing myself in the mirror for hundreds of years, you start to yearn for something more, you know? Not to say that I’m not a joy to look at every time, but sometimes a different scene is nice.” She takes care to remove her shoes at the door, shooting Sindre a wink as he turns back to glance at her. It’s nice to be like this again; spouting witty banter like it hasn’t been ages since they’ve seen each other. Padding after him into the kitchen, Audelina lets out a thoughtful little hum. “Coffee today, I think...” She makes herself right at home, leaning against the kitchen counter and taking a little glance around. “You’ve been well? I hope you’ve been surviving without me.”

hc + cooking, education, lying
cooking
audi is an appreciator of good food but isn’t much of a cook. it’s not that she doesn’t know how or that she’s particularly bad at it, but she prefers the structure of baking. there’s less room to be adventurous, but audi appreciates having precise numbers more than seasoning to taste. she’ll cook for herself, but she never makes anything extravagant or complicated if she’s not having guests.
education
she’s taken many university classes in her day, but she doesn’t have any degrees. every now and again she’ll enroll in some classes just to expand her horizons and see how things have changed. there’s no use in being alive for so long and not making an effort to change and improve as the world is changing and improving. learning is a hobby for her now.
lying
she’s not much of a liar. it’s not like audi has a strict no-lying policy or anything, but she’s not a fan of telling big lies. she’ll tell little lies to avoid hurting people’s feelings or to keep people from worrying about her, but she’s not one to tell big lies to cover things up.
hc + war <3
audi has seen war on her doorstep and in her country on multiple occasions, and it never gets easier. she’s seen it change and kill and scar people, just like it’s scarred and changed her. even if things have settled now, there are things that she’ll never forget because of the scars that paint her body and the fears that have embedded themselves in her brain. even so, she tries not to dwell on the things that she’s seen or things that have been lost to the past, but she can’t help but feel nervous about most political discourse nowadays.
nidarosing:
The moment Audi takes the initiative and moves in, Sindre’s arms part automatically to squeeze her close for the short but pleasant moment the hug lasts. When she pulls back, the giddy grin has firmly planted root on his face, and his eyes crinkle at the corners at her words.
“I should hope so,” he muses, leaning against the doorframe as he looks her over. It’s been far too long since the last time they went out, really - it takes a brief moment’s effort not to delve into feeling bad that he hadn’t initiated a surprise meeting like this first. But Audi’s here now, ostensibly just to see him again, and that thought keeps his grin strong. “I missed you too, Süsse. How’s your corner of the world holding up these days?”
“ Oh, you know. between becoming culturally endangered and political scandals, I’ve been holding up decently. As long as I have my coffee and my chocolate and my cat, I think I’ll hold up okay. ” Despite the subject matter, Audi seems relatively untroubled by it all. It’s not to say that either is unimportant, but when you’ve seen war and tragedy in your life, things like this are trivial. Silly.
She rocks on her toes a bit, her eyes darting over his features and searching his expression for nothing in particular-- taking him in. “ I just thought a change of pace and scenery would be nice, and what’s a nicer change of scenery than you? Have you been well? Are you going to make me stand out here forever? ”
Hc + Prater Park
audi has never been one for amusement rides except for the ones considered relatively tame. that being said, there’s still enough at Prater Park to keep her entertained. perhaps the ghost train and the horror attractions don’t scare her anymore, but every once in a while when she visits she’ll indulge in some of the more ‘exciting’ attractions. her favorite part of the park is the people. though the rides and attractions are fun and the food is good, audelina’s favorite part of the park is strolling through and seeing how the people have changed. the park isn’t what it was more than a hundred years ago, and neither or the people that roam it. people-watching brings along a feeling of pleasant nostalgia and also a curiosity for the future.

Despite having done his morning run, there’s a restlessness in Sindre’s legs that won’t let him focus on the book he’s been trying to read for the past solid thirty minutes or so. When he hears the knock on his apartment’s door, he looks up from his unsuccessful endeavour, white noise in his brain clearing up to make room for a curious excitement. The distraction is complete when he hears the muffled yet familiar voice from the other side of the door, and with little regard for placing a bookmark before shuffling his reading material aside (he hadn’t gotten very far, anyway), Sindre springs up from the couch, a delighted grin spreading across his features as he strides over to the source of the sound.
“Audi!“ He’s already beaming by the time he’s unlocked the door and opened it, and seeing her face in front of him for the first time in a while does nothing to dampen it. It takes a certain amount of restraint not to immediately pull her into a hug, bouncing slightly on his feet instead. “What are you doing here?” His shoulders sink down into a somewhat calmer, more playful expression. “If you walked all the way here, it’s either an emergency or you just really missed me, and I don’t see you in a rush, so…“
“ Sindre! ” Almost immediately, the figurative storm clouds that muddle Audelina’s nerves seem to part. The way that her expression shifts from something perturbed to something so lighthearted and bright is effortless. She’s not certain why she ever thought that Sindre would be unhappy to see her, but the energy that radiates from him is enough to make her want to bounce on her own feet. There’s just something so good about seeing him again. It makes her regret how long it’s been. She’s not certain of whether or not it’s entirely appropriate, but when Sindre hesitates to close the gap himself, Audi goes in for contact instead. She drapes her arms around him in a tight, albeit brief hug, and pulls back to hold her hands up in a cheeky pose of surrender. “ You caught me. Missing you constitutes as an emergency, doesn’t it? ”
tigerstaden:
If he was honest, he had at most a vague idea of what was happening in front of him. The mustachio guy seemed pretty high-strung about something, though, whatever it was. Then again, that had been the default for most of the past hour or so.
But honestly, who could blame him, Ola thought as he shifted slightly with the weight against him. From where Audi was curled up against his side, a familiar warmth had come to envelop him, and he could think of very little else worth caring about than melting further into the couch and the company.
An arm around her shoulders, his fingers carded idly through her hair; gently curling locks around his fingers and letting them fall back. The hint of a smile sharpening the line of his mouth, Ola tilted his head closer, eyes still on the screen. “ So who’s winning ? ”
@musikstadtwien
Audelina has never been a fan of their distance. On the occasion that they have to dutifully spend time apart, it always seems to feel like an unfortunate while before they see one another again. She prefers it better this way; spending time in quiet, enjoying one another’s presence and warmth. They’re better suited for this. For being in each other’s arms.
The rhythmic carding of fingers through her hair serves as just enough of a distraction to pull her focus from the movie. The sensation relaxes her muscles, eases her mind, serves to melt her further into her companion’s side. Whatever has occurred within the past twenty minutes or so in the film has been completely lost on her. It’s all bright colors and whimsical music, but not much more than that. Whatever plans the mustached man and the bellhop boy have for the rest of the move seemed wholly unimportant. Background noise. It’s Ola’s voice that pulls her back to reality, and she takes a moment to process what he’s asking. She laughs gently, a soft smile beginning to curve her lips as she tilts her head back to look at him. “ If this is your way of testing me to see if I’m paying attention, you caught me. I’ve no idea. ”

Is it a bit ridiculous to be nervous about visiting a good friend? Perhaps so, but it’s been such a long time since Audi has had the opportunity to spend genuine time with him. That aside, she doesn’t do things like this often. Some people might find them enjoyable, but Audi has never really been one for surprises. Even receiving gifts on Christmas spurs an unpleasant flutter in her chest. How unfortunate it will be if Sindre isn’t a fan of surprises either, but maybe he’ll make an exception for her.
How could anyone not?
There’s a hesitation as she stands at the door, hand raised with the intent to knock but no confidence to follow through. Funny that now of all times is when Audelina’s ever-present confidence seems to vanish. She just worries that he won’t be happy to see her, but fuck it. If it doesn’t go well, she’ll find someone else to harass, she supposes. That conclusion alone is enough to spur her on, delicate knuckles hitting the door with a clean and crisp knock. “ You better be home, ” she calls playfully, hopefully, “ I walked all the way here just to see you. ” @nidarosing // closed starter
