Rise and shine!
Nah.
I think I need to elaborate on my last post.
I miss running regularly. I have tried multiple times to get back at it and, at one point, I got injured and had to rest for about a month. I haven’t given up on it 100%, because it makes me feel good-- but I end up quitting after a week or so. I don’t know why. It makes me feel so disappointed at myself. How did I have the energy to get up and squeeze a run (5-6km) before work? How did I go to spin class on a Saturday morning? I am not talking about ages ago, this was only two years ago.
Damn. Has it really been two years since we moved? I don’t think I have gotten over that yet. I don’t think this place will ever feel like home. I try to ignore that feeling as hard as I can, but some days are definitely harder than others.
Body-image wise... Let’s just say that it feels as if I were sabotaging myself over and over again. I can’t stand looking at myself in the mirror.
Work-wise... I thought signing a contract as a freelancer was a huge step forward. It would mean having stable income and actual work hours. It’s only been three months, and... I feel like I shouldn’t say this, but I dread it. Aside from the fact that it’s not a field I feel passionate about, it doesn’t help that they treat us like crap.
Some things really need to change.
Kyro, May 2016
Oddly enough, it’s been a while since I photographed Kyro outdoors. I hate photographing in harsh afternoon light, which was probably the reason why I didn’t bring my camera with me. I know the light/exposure is far from perfect in this picture, but there’s still something I like about it.
Tug-of-war!
Does it make sense to miss your old self?
There’s no such thing as shedding season.
Speaking of photography, I had the chance to do an outdoors session with a friend the other day. I am actually very happy about how these turned out.
(more photographs up in my blog!)
I feel like it’s been forever since I posted here
I have had this nagging feeling where I don’t feel 100% happy (maybe 30% happy? lol) with my career. Right now, it’s just a means to an end... but I can’t imagine myself doing this for a long time. I’ll admit, it’s very scary for me to say this out loud. There are so many things that I would love to do, and I just can’t help feeling that my current job is eating away all of that.
I would love to be a full-time photographer, but at the same time I know I just can’t pull off a client list out of the blue and continue to pay rent.
Well. Something to keep thinking about.
Belgian Malinois puppy. <3
I had the amazing opportunity to photograph some Malinois puppies and adult dogs during a training workshop with Kees Verbunt last weekend. Head over to my other blog to check it out!
Had a blast photographing a French Ring training session at the club last week. <3
Where there is light, there must be shadow, where there is shadow there must be light. There is no shadow without light and no light without shadow.
I love the beach in winter.
Forgot to mention
I’ll be going to Crufts this year! Just Saturday and Sunday, but I’m really excited about it. Looking forward to taking lots of pictures AND videos (I’d love to do some documentary photography, so I’m thinking about what sort of gear to take with me, since I know I’ll be walking a lot).
It’ll be my first trip 100% alone, so I hope I don’t get lost. It’s now been 7 years since I last set foot in the UK, so I’m sure it’ll bring back lots of great memories.
Has anybody ever been to Crufts? Any tips?
Last week I signed my first contract as a freelancer. It felt great. Now I finally have proper work hours AND financial stability, which means our routine has changed. Once I finish work, I NEED to get off the computer. So, this past week I have picked up trick training with Kyro after work-- also as a way to compensate our slightly different routine.
Guys, for the first time in a year and a half, he learned how to PULL/TUG. This makes me so excited. He has 0 interest in toys/play, but I guess he still has some food motivation left. Whatever it is, I’ll take it!
Apart from that, I have been teaching him to walk backwards and ‘Say Hi’.
He may not be the most enthusiastic dog, but I love working with him. They are very small steps, but I love seeing his progress.
I miss photography and I’m planning a session outdoors this Sunday, BUT I definitely need to make more videos!
