I'm leaning a little more into Margaret and Hetty having had a fight that ruined their relationship rather than Margaret being sent away. I was thinking about how Hetty sacrificed one of her most important secrets(Thomas' guilt in Alberta's death) something she's guarded for 100 years, SOMEONE she's guarded her whole life/afterlife, even killing herself for. But she gives it up because she doesn't want Alberta thinking that her sister betrayed her. She doesn't want to ruin their relationship and how Alberta sees her sister. And I just feel like she's trying to protect something she herself lost.

Hetty's strongest trait is love. It drives everything, whether its for cocaine, power, or for people (not that she'd ever admit to the last one). And I feel like that really shows in that scene.

Serial killers and mass murders are usually not that smart, police have just historically refused to do their actual jobs.
