“Who’re you to make comparisons!? No one lives their life the same way as anyone else!” He growled out the words, swinging time and time again as he did so. “What makes one person happy will destroy another’s life!” Brilliant, David was one of the people who were far too smart for their own good. Except his genius was also going to be his downfall. For having relied on another person to take care of things, for not scoping out the after scenario and sticking around to see it through. Now he was dealing with a kid who was obviously a fighter as well.
David smirked when he noticed that one of his strikes had nailed a spot on the pest’s arm, only to find his weight shifting soon after. The sweep of his leg offered little way to get out of the fall, but he wasn’t as unskilled as many believed he was. As his frame fell, he let his opposite leg fly forward. Not to hit Nico, though that would be a plus, but to balance his weight as he pushed off the ground to upright himself and lunge straight for him. It didn’t matter if they were in view of the hospital now.
There was only so much a lousy rent-a-cop and staff of doctors could do after all. And when it came to someone like him? Well he had his ways of weasling out of things. Except things that came from no where. While they were fighting, Nikolas had woken back up and went to hunt down Nico and get a cigarette. Granted, the nurses advised against it, but he didn’t care for that. He could see well enough and he was rested, so walking wasn’t a chore. But when he walked past a window in order to get outside, he saw the shadows of figures and knew the pattern they waltzed in.
It only took him a moment to get outside, and another to figure out that it was David and Nico. His heart dropped in his chest, the immediate thought of him being the cause of Nico to get hurt? That didn’t settle well with him at all. Nor did the fact that David had obviously found a way out of containment. He reached up, tearing the Ivs out and tossing the cart aside before he made a run for it. Blindsiding his former best friend, he tackled him away from the younger male and lashed out like no other. “Back the fuck up you piece of shit!”
Existence, something David held near and dear when it came to Nikolas. They both knew that from their last meet in the room. But now, even as he acknowledged David’s existence, his anger was apparent and there was no escaping it. Not as he grabbed at the pale throat beneath his bandaged hands and clenched his jaw as if to prevent himself from tearing the flesh with his teeth. “Fuckin’ come at me all you like, but touch him and I’ll fucking kill you.” The words fell upon stunned ears as David squirmed and struggled, immediately going for a blinding jab with one of the tools in his hands.
But Nikolas was keen on his eyes now, leaning back and catching the wrist before he cleanly jerked it the opposite direction. Even as he broke David’s wrist, he hadn’t stopped. He couldn’t hear the screaming beneath him, but he could see the pain in his features and didn’t care. This man had sunk far too low and had done far too much for him to care about him now. He didn’t stop there, taking the scalpel to his bicep and side before he drove his fist repeatedly into David’s face. There was only a few moments left, the kicking soon stopped and all Nikolas was left with was a bloodied, wheezing, man.
Even though he wanted to end it right then and there, he got a grip on himself and got up, only to swiftly kick the other’s side before turning away to go check on Nico. “Hey, he didn’t hurt you, did he?” The question was very meekly put as he looked him over and frowned. It was his fault he ended up in this situation, he’d put him in danger and there was no way around that fact.
