I’ve got a headcannon that if Karl does die in Beyond the Spider-verse, Rick and Hobie would get a lot closer to help each other through the pain.

I like to think that if the MCU Avengers rocked up in Hobie’s universe and met the Spider Band that Rick would meet them first, and then there’d be an interaction something like this;

*While Rick and Karl are showing the MCU team where they can stay*

Hobie *checking in*: ‘how’s it going in here’

Steve: ‘Very well. Rick and his good friend Karl have been helping us out.’

Robbie *followed Hobie*: ‘I’m sorry, Rick and his what friend Karl?’

Karl *looking to the other Avengers*: ‘Uh, when did you say this guy was from again?’

Tony: ‘He was frozen at the end of WWII.’

Karl: ‘And, does he know what gay people are?’

Tony: ‘Maybe, I don’t know.’ *looking to Steve* ‘Do you know what gay people are, Cap?’

Steve: ‘Of course I do, it’s when a man likes another-’ *realisation* ‘Oh! That makes more sense.’

Karl (sassily) *hooking his arm around Rick*: ‘Yeah.’
