Rocky fix
the ipad brothers. they're rotting.
book grace loves to go on and on about rockyās intelligence. every page heās like rocky is SO smart, and so talented and skilled, eridians are probably WAY smarter than humans right rocky (and rockyās like no, i think weāre of similar intelligence just in different ways) and grace is like NAH eridians are smarter, especially rocky, whoās probably the smartest one of all, who can fix anything and do anything and god i miss him i wish he was here right now. i wonder if he wants to do surgery on me. because i would let him if he asked
this in: middle-aged mans first known encounter with flirtatious remark (confused)
my pronouns are she/her bc I'll never be him (anthony head playing on his pink ds in full costume on the set of merlin)
Yknow the lil fanfic trope where a character, usually non-human, purrs like a cat. In this case it would obviously be Rocky but what if it was Grace instead hear me out-
Grace making huge advencements in the Eridian medical field.
Turns out there's a childhood disease to the tune of measles that erodes the carapace, and the first symptom shows up about a week before any actual damage is caused.
Grace comments to Rocky that one of his students seems to be turning oxidisation-green. About a week later that student has to be hospitalised for this illness.
Eridian scientists realise pretty quick that Grace can detect the illness long before any of their equipment can, and when caught that early it is much, much easier and safer to treat.
Not only is Grace celebrated in the scientific field for his knowledge and for his part in saving the world, he becomes a beacon of hope for doctors and parents and children on Erid.
Been feeding baby goats that a mama rejected, and having Jonathan and Martha Kent thoughts.
Jon and Martha find the Kryptonian ship in their corn field, but when they open it the baby is not well. Heās traveled light years, and even at the fastest speeds, it was days or even weeks. What fluid was sustaining him has been gone for some time.
They work a farm. They know what a sick baby looks like.
They take the baby inside anyway. Itās far too late for anything to be open, so they break out the milk replacer for the livestock. The bottle they find has had a goat kid sucking on it, but they wash it good, because what other choice do they have?
The baby doesnāt take to the bottle well. He barely eats.
They both know a lack of appetite is a death knell.
āI canāt watch a baby die,ā Martha says. Sheās done it before. She and Jon struggled to have kids. The closest they got ā well. Itās a hard memory for them both.
āI know, love.ā Jonās a good old country boy. He grew up being told itās a manās job to take the burden. Heāll take it now. āGo to bed. Iāll stay with him.ā
Sure, they both know Martha wonāt sleep, but at least she wonāt have to see.
Jon takes the wee babe out onto the porch. He tries to poke more milk down him. Rubs his chest, bounces him, pushes the bottle past his lips, every damn thing he can do. The hours are long and hard, but he would never forgive himself if he didnāt try.
The baby continues to fade.
The eastern sky starts to lighten.
āIām sorry, little fellow,ā Jonathan whispers. Itās not long now. He can feel it in his bones. Heās held plenty of animals as they died. Heās waiting for that long last exhale. āSorry you came all this way and this is your welcome. Canāt even enjoy the sunrise.ā
He told himself he wouldnāt cry until the boy was gone. Wasnāt fair, that his last moments would be a man crying instead of comforting him, but Jon does his best to do both at the same time. He cradles the poor little thing even as his shoulders shake.
The sun breaks over the horizon, and light floods the porch. Jon closes his eyes against it and his tears.
Itās a hiccup that is the first sign something changed. Then the wiggling.
Jon nearly drops the baby in shock.
When he looks down, the little boy sure hasnāt died. Heās got this rosy little glow to his cheeks and his eyes are bright. Heās throwing those little hands around like heās trying to figure out how they work, but he seems to be trying to reach for the sun.
Jon just stares at him until the baby gets frustrated enough with his clumsy limbs that he opens his mouth to tell the world about it.
The babyās cry is so powerful Jon falls right out of his rocker. Itās a miracle he doesnāt launch the poor thing.
Only thing he can think to do with a screaming baby thatās about to take his eardrums out is shove that bottle right in that open mouth.
The little boy shuts right up and clings to the bottle for dear life as he drinks with a fury.
When Martha comes stumbling out wild-eyed in her jammies, Jonās sitting on the porch with a grin as bright as the dawn despite the fact his ears are still ringing.
āTurns out he has a good set of lungs.ā
actually hate that the bodys response to anything is nausea. ate too much? nauseous. ate too little? nauseous. an imaginary threat got you scared? be nauseous. on your period? you guessed it. sawed into your hand and need to go to the emergency room? perhaps throwing up into your open wound will be of help
Brothers that hate each other they said
And they were right
