Shadow didn’t know WHY he had to go after this person, only that he had to in order to have a chance to get his son back without harm. Even if he hated the ones holding the poor cat hostage… He’d rather not loose his family again…

When he got there, he basically blasted his way in, then stands there, looking around. “If you’re here, come on out. I would have come in quietly, but I didn’t want them to know…” 

The word them was laced with hatred, someone was watching Shadow, well most likely before he destroyed what they were using to do so.

  A few moments after Shadow entered, footsteps could be heard, and then the Professor came partially into view in the dark hallway. Sort of eerily. He held his hands crossed behind his back, and his eyes glanced over Shadow through his glasses.

  No recognition. No idea who this guy was.

  “Must you make such a mess? Now I’ve got to fix the door…How I hate repairs…” sighed Rennird, shaking his head. However, he straightened a bit, and stepped further into the light. “I’m here. Whatever do you want? Forgive my forwardness, but I haven’t time for this at this dreadful hour, Mr….?” His voice trailed off as if waiting for Shadow’s introduction.

“I’ll cover the repairs. Name’s Shadow and I want to know why G.U.N. demanded I drag you to them in exchange for my son. I despise those people… but I am not loosing my family to them.” He growls a bit, he didn’t have time for small talk and if they started to dodge answering his questions, he’d be even more pissed off than he already is.

Rennird raised an eyeridge. “You question me, expecting me to know? And let alone answer! Well,” He walked forward more. “I have no connections to G.U.N...Not other than them continuously bothering my experiments.”

  He stopped a few feet away, tilting his head. “In exchange for your son, though...Ah, I see...They’ve kidnapped someone else? Not unusual for them, I suppose...”

  This hedgehog was very straight to the poitn, but thankfully, so was Rennird. He didn’t want to spend more time with weird breakings and enterings than he needed to.

  Wasn’t his choice; wasn’t his goal.

   Yet as he held the paper carefully, yet tightly in his fingers, clutching the aged material and faded letters, he read over it for the millionth time and thought: Maybe it was his choice...Had he chosen to become a surgeon of such awful magnitude? Well...Doesn’t matter now, does it?

  Sighing, he put it back in a drawer of his desk, slowly shutting it so as not to make a noise and disturb his sleeping experiment - Urisk - who had fallen asleep on a nearby shelf. Unfortunately, this effort was little more than naught, as the room began flashing - an alarm began ringing. Rennird’s eyes blinked, and he adjusted his glasses, looking around hurriedly. Had an experiment escaped? No...

  Grabbing the microphone, he quickly adjusted the monitors on it, and was met with muffled noises of explosions. He then spoke. “Static! Are you there?”

  “Little busy, Professor...” Came a woman’s voice.

  “So it sounds like. What’s happening?”

  “Whazzat?” piped up Urisk. 

  “Intruder, sir. Heading your way. You should prepare.”

  “..Very well...Who is he?”

  “A black hedgehog, sir.”

  Rennird paused, then nodded. “All right. Take a rest. I’ll deal with them. Urisk, that’s our cue.”

He’d not really like to fight, but with such a rude awakening at this hour - it’d best be important.

Heavy Magician was standing amidst a small store for something nice for her wife. She wasn’t planning on just taking anything this time around, shockingly enough. She was mostly just minding her business when she felt someone bump into her. Looking around, she noticed that it was a mobian, just what type she couldn’t quite tell.

“Oops.. Sorry, am I in the way?” This robot seemed pretty darn fancy, being real brightly colored and all flamboyant. It spoke with a feminine voice that had a western accent to it.

  A long trip...Far too long, and in far too public a setting. However, the professor didn’t dare enter his little town’s own market place, and decided to wander further for a few simple supplies...He found himself surprised moments after getting essentially what he needed, that he’d been bumped into by... Well, he didn’t say it out loud, but he was actually quite astonished to find one walking around so...casually.

  “Ah, no, no, not at all, M....” His voice was low and a tad deep, though it seemed strained for some reason - unknown to the robot or anyone else, he’d simply been startled and almost resorted to his default accent - something he never used. In any case, he cut himself off due to not knowing whether to address the robot as male, female, or neither...”No, not at all. My apologies for not looking where I was going.” He spoke again, this time the strain gone. He didn’t particularly have the time nor care to small talk...But he’d be polite for now.

  Restless - oh how restless the scientist grew. Not with his life - nor with his emotions, but with his studies. Oh, how he’d hit a standstill! Oh how he hated it! The professor siped from a mug filled with cocoa, trying to calm his edged nerves. 

  “What’s wrong, boss?” came a voice, “Cat got your tongue?”

   “Shoo.” Was all the surgeon had to say, turning the page of a book before him and ignoring the parasitic little being staring from a nearby shelf.

   “C’mon…Tell me what you’re working on! Maybe I can help!”

   “If you must know, the xenotransplantation was not success in my last patient, as the offered blood cells rejected that of the host’s, causing the DNA in the earlier section I’d stitched to -”

  “Bah…I don’t know anything about that.” As expected, the parasite slunk back into the shadows, slipping out of sight. Rennird would’ve wondered why the brat asked, but he didn’t care enough to find out….But that’s when he heard it.

  The doorbell of the manor, old and weary, clanging through the halls loud enough to bother the labroatory he was in. “What a pain,” He mumbles to himself, rubbing his temple. “Urisk, send them away.” The parasite didn’t reply, so the surgeon took that to mean he wasn’t interested. Meant he’d have to deal with it himself…

       Adjusting a microphone on his desk, he cleared his throat. Whoever was at the door would then hear, clearly spoken -

      “To who it may concern - I’m busy. What do you want?” Straight to the point..

Despite how far it was, and despite how strange he was sure they looked, Seek found himself ringing the doorbell to this manor. It wasn’t as though they’d planned to come here, either – Their appearance had frightened people on the way, and it had begun to downpour. 

There was no way he could stay outside in this – not only would his own body become sick, but because of the fusion between him and Mary, they’d end up rusting after too long like this.

“I am very sorry to intrude; I would just like temporary shelter from the rain.” The fact of the matter was, the tone presented seemed to sound like that of a short-circuiting machine. “This – is the last place I am trying, we are trying.”

Both the cybernetic parasite and the wolf, this time, agreed that to survive, they needed a roof over their head at least.

  Would’ve turned them away - should’ve turned them away anyway - but Rennird paused. Not necessarily out of sympathy - no, he lacked such things. What he didn’t lack was curiosity. This manor was far from town...Was this some town kid come to gawk again? No, not in this weather...The swamp was dangerous in the rain - townsfolk knew that.

   Something about that voice also piqued his interest...

 “Very well. The door is unlocked. Come in.”

Slowly, almost hesitantly, the professor rose from his chair, putting the mic aside and taking his mug of cocoa, and heading out of the basement. He wasn’t going to let strangers wander his home - as beat up as the place was, it was his sanctuary. So he headed up, and to the main hall. The place was big - but not too obnoxiously so. He’d been a noble years before -not a king.
