I didn't really connect this til now for some reason but the outfit Matriarch Benezia wears throughout the events of ME1 is... definitely not what she would have chosen to wear.

Between the dark, textured fabric, the breast window and the pointy headpiece, this whole outfit screams turian-inspired fetishist gear. During this mission Liara laments that the males of other species have an "unhealthy obsession" with asari, clearly perturbed by how sexual interest in asari seems to overshadow basic respect or acknowledgement of status. Then she has to face her brainwashed mother in this outfit that sexualizes her in such a way that her entire personhood is erased.

She loved to wear yellow. But she died in this instead.
