Kwon Minah being cute and derp at the same time (◑‿◐)
- on the road ; mxxna&sxnghyun
"I don’t know," he honestly admits with a shrug. "Parents make me nervous. Don’t parents make he nervous?" The sound that comes from his throat sound slike a laugh, but it seems kind of tense and forced. His own parents made him nervous these days, what more the parents of the girl he was seeing, never mind that they’ve seemed nothing but friendly and welcoming whenever he’d spoken with them through Skype. "Shoot me down?!" He laughs even more, head shaking from side to side. "That’s not very encouraging, Mina," he tells her, his tone teasing, knowing that there’s no way he can make so bad an impression that guns would be involved. Or, well, at least he hopes he won’t—suddenly he’s feeling a little bit too worked up again.
Despite all that, however, he does manage to relax a little upon her assurance, and he gives her a tiny smile, thankful for her words. “That’s true,” he admits finally with a small nod. He wasn’t her old boyfriends—they all managed to get broken up with, after all. Their loss.
"Well, pick out the things you want and I’l be right there after you?" He suggests as he steps out of the car. "Oh, wait—" He grins at her, reaching back for his wallet to briefly take the gas card out before returning it to her. "Maybe get me a can of iced coffee for the road as a start, I guess?"
It doesn’t take him long to refill the tank of the car and for him to follow her inside the store. It does take him a shot while for his eyes to look around and spot her tiny frame, lost within the aisles of the store. “Mina—?”
"i was just kidding, i'm sure they wouldn't do that -- just a joke." at least -- it kind of was. she knew her uncles owned guns, her father didn't partake in that certain joy of machinery but she was sure he'd ventured a few times with them to the cages to get a few shots in. but knowing that fact, mina knew it was best not to tell seunghyun that -- she didn't need him to get too worked up over nothing. plus the fact that they've already sort of met him should have been able to ease him, she honestly just thought that her relatives were just overly-hyped about meeting someone who mina had liked -- the last time she liked someone she had ended the relationship before they even got to meet the guy. "you've met most of them already, you have absolutely nothing to worry about, plus i'm there -- nothing will happen to you with me there." she nods, smiling as she pats his shoulder.
at his reassurance, the small brunette nods before slipping back out of the car. wedges clicking against the asphalt as she makes her way towards the small mart that was attached to gas station. her first step instigated by the push of the door rang the bell that hung at the top of the entrance, the soft chime calling a smile to her lips. at the sight of the old male behind the counter, mina bowed her head respectfully, throwing a smile his way before she made her own turn around the store. eyes taking in each of and every aisle before she randomly chooses one to venture into. her fingers softly grazing the cool plastic as she tries to decide what to get.
"hm?" she hears a voice call out her name as she's about to pull at a bright green bag that has crispy onions on the front. she blinks, turning in time to see seunghyun, a smile on her face as she waves the bag of onion ring chips at him. "do you like these?" mina looks down at the package before glancing back at the shelves full of junk food, blinking at them as she tries to decide what to get.

"That makes me nervous," Seunghyun has to admit when Mina starts talking about her family wanting to meet. His father, and all her uncles—she’s always told him that her relatives were fond of him, but that wasn’t really helping ease his nerves at the idea of actually meeting them. "Is there anything I should remember to do… or moreso not to do when I’m face to face with your parents and your entire clan?” He laughs, obviously feeling very conscious. “What were the impressions your old boyfriends give off anyway….” His sentence trails off as he continues to drive, his thoughts all jumbled together. He’s never really been good with parents now that he thought about it—looking back,he can’t even remember having met any of his old girlfriends’ parents. Maybe once, with his first girlfriend, but only because he had bumped into her with her family at the mall, and it hadn’t really been that big of a deal. Not to mention he was only 16 years old then, and he can’t even remember if her parents had known at the time that they were dating.
His thoughts are cut off with the tone she makes and he quickly glances at her, eyebrow arched. “Yes, the possibilities,” he repeats, tone teasing, with laughter that comes easily. “What are you thinking about Kwon Mina?” He asks, pulling into the gas station and slowing down to a stop in front of the refilling tanks. “Here,” he says, still laughing as he unbuckles his seatbelt and hand her his wallet. “Buy some snacks, I guess?”
her eyes drift to him, blinking carefully at his words. "why?" she laughed, the words filtering out through a chuckle, not entirely understanding why he would be nervous. "mm?" mina was busily tapping a few things into her phone as she listened to her boyfriend beside her, eyebrow rising at his sudden anxiety. "don't be nervous, you have nothing to worry about. it's not like you're going to say anything bad that'll make my uncles want to shoot you down." the brunette pauses right after she had said it, that was probably not the best thing to smooth down the situation. "just be yourself, i honestly assure you that there shouldn't be anything you need to prepare yourself for. well, maybe prepare yourself for how many people you'll be meeting but other than that, you should be fine." slim shoulders rose and fell in a definite shrug as she nodded. "my old boyfriends?" lips purse as she fell into a silent thought, "i ... honestly don't remember. it probably wasn't too bad or it could have been bad -- i don't know, and you shouldn't compare yourself to them, anyways. you're nothing like them."
"oh, okay." she nods, holding onto the wallet that's handed to her as she unbuckles her seatbelt in suit to him. opening the door only to turn around to duck her head back into the car, "did you want anything specific, i'm not sure what to buy." mina blinks as she looks from him to the store before she moves to sit back down. "you know what, i'll just wait for you -- i don't want to go alone. i don't want to buy the wrong thing." she says as she places the wallet back in her lap and she waits for him to put gas into the car.

"Here," Seunghyun briefly fiddles with the technological contraption that’s propped up in between the two of them until it lights up and the start-up screen comes on. "It’s… I’m not exactly sure how to work this specific model, but hey just experiment with it," he says with a light chuckle as he finally turns the keys in the ignition, turning the engine on. He’s pretty sure he at least knows the way to the gas station nearest Mina’s apartment, after all.
"You miss them, don’t you?" He asks, grinning as he throws her a quick glance. Knowing her and how close she is to her family, he’s pretty sure that she’s more than just plain missing them at this point. "Wait—they know I’m coming along, right?" He thinks about his best polo shirt, tucked away neatly inside his bag, picked out specifically so he’d make the best impression possible with her family. Sure, he’s seen them through pixelised Skype video chats, but this is the first tme they’d be meeting him in person, and no matter how many times Mina assures him that they like him just fine, he still feels pretty nervous.
"Oh please," He laughs and blindly reaches towards her, pressing his pointer finger against her cheek. "Annoying is probably good—at least it’ll keep me awake and both of us pretty safe, right?" He maneuvers the car around the corner, and drives straight towards the now visible gas station up the road. "And all my friend told me was that I better bring the car back with a full tank, so I guess that mean we’re free to do whatever we want here—" He chortles, and playfully wiggles his eyebrows.
her eyebrows shot up as she nodded, cheeks puffing lightly as she moved forward to tinker with the little device -- eyes going wide at the sounds it was making as she typed in her address. she was never one to use things like this (unless it was on her phone), she either knew how to get there or she was sure the bus would be able to take her where she needed to be without there being too much confusion. "ok," she says in finality, smiling brightly as she watches the map on the screen pinpoint where they should begin, "i think i got it -- hopefully this doesn't get us lost or else i'm going to demand you get a refund on this thing." eyes taking in the green arrow as it moved and bounced along the screen.
"yeah," she admits a beat late, her eyes down-casting slightly before returning upwards with her smile. it had been a while but adapting back in seoul was proving to make the heart grow fonder of her family so being able to see them this weekend was one present she could never pass up on. "uhuh," she bobs her head in a light nod, fingers pushing back the array of dark hair that brushes against her cheek, tucking it behind her ear as she looks from the moving landscape and back to the driver. "appa really wants to meet you and so do all my aunts and uncles -- i swear if i didn't know that we were going to a wedding, i would have thought i was just going home to have you meet them." her teeth find her cheek, nibbling upon the skin softly as she sits back into her seat. she did feel kind of guilty though, as much as the weekend was supposed to be about her cousin, most of the attention had been shown on her -- mostly because she was bringing a boy home. she couldn't even remember the last time she had done that.
mina feels her eyes roll but the smile curves high onto her face as she feels his finger dig into her cheek in which she immediately shies away from, patting his hand away. "yah, drive -- i don't want to get in an accident before we even leave the city." she says in jest, pulling her legs underneath her. she was tiny enough so crossing her legs in an indian-style had always been a notion she did when she was in a moving vehicle, well some moving vehicles -- buses were the exception. she laughs when she catches his eyebrow wiggle, fingers flying to cover her laughter. "anything, wow -- the possibilities." from her lips to her chin, her fingers tap at the skin there as if to actually think of what 'fun things' they could do in a car like this.

Rolling his window down as soon as he spots her, Seunghyun gives the female a wide grin and an eager wave. “Are those all of your things?” He calls out, eyeing the luggage she’s carrying before making the quick decision to unbuckle himself from his seat and step out of the car. He meets his girlfriend on her way to the car, leaning down to kiss her on the cheek and relieving her of her bag. “Here, let me—”
Walking to the car, he opens the door to the backseat and places her things there. “I have no idea how to get to your hometown, by the way,” he tells her, laughing as he speaks. “Do you have GPS coordinates, at least? Oh, and we have to stop by the nearest gas station first because the tank’s barely a third full.”
He’s feeling pretty excited, despite the long day he’s already had. The thought of the lengthy drive ahead of them is actually giving him energy for some reason, probably because he hasn’t really had quality time with Mina for a couple of weeks already. Both of them have been so busy with work and other things—Seunghyun had finally officially dropped out of university and has been piling on shifts at the cafe while trying to to find a second job so he can support himself easier. He still had a bit of his savings left, thanks to him being so miserly, but the allowance his parents used to regularly send him had stopped coming a month ago and he knew very well that money can disappear pretty fast.
"You have to keep me awake throughout the entire drive, okay?" He says, tone challenging, as he opens the passenger door for her. "Maybe we should get coffee at that gas station too."
her head immediately nods at his question, slowing down her pace towards the car -- if someone were to see her, they'd notice that she would have tripped over her heels in a few moments if she didn't slow her roll. "oh, okay." mina feels the weight of the bag slip from the crook of her elbow, not even realizing that her arm had been feeling numb this entire time. she smiles up at him when he leans down to kiss her cheek, giggling at the notion before she walks beside him.
"mhm, do you have the gps i can put it in." she nods as she sidles next to him at the car. her hand waves nonchalantly, not at all bothered by the first stop. "that's fine, i'm in no hurry. i already told my dad that we wouldn't be seeing them until tomorrow morning before the wedding, plus my room is being used by some of my relatives so there's no way they'd even be able to fit us in our house. it was never really that big." it wasn't like it was that long ago since she had been home. it was only a few months. having been october currently, it was only last july that she left; not even a good half-year but she sure did miss her dad, especially after what had happened at the beginning of the year.
mina's lithe body slips into the car easily as she laughs into her palms, eyes crinkling as she shakes her head at him. "yah, don't even kid -- i'm sure you're going to be annoyed with me by the end of the trip." her nose crinkles, knowingly joking with him. "coffee sounds nice, ohh -- we should get some treats for the road too. did your friend say it was okay to eat in the car? i made sandwiches with the ahjumma next door."
I want you to crave me. From my lips, up to my words.

Seunghyun had been constantly checking the time for the last hour, eager to get off his shift and be on his way. As soon as the clock hit five o’clock, never mind that it was rush hour and students were constantly entering the cafe expecting assistance, he slips out of his apron and officially clocks out.
He gets the car keys his workmate had promised to lend him, profusely thanking him and once more apologising for the short notice he’d given when he wanted to borrow the car. “I’ll take care of her, bro,” he promises with a wide grin and a casual squeeze to his friend’s shoulder. “I’ll return her with a full tank of gas, too.”
Grabbing his things, he quickly stuffs them in the trunk of the car and finally makes his way. A few days ago his girlfriend had called him up, talking about this big family wedding taking place back in her hometown. Swept in the excitement of Mina once again talking up her family, somehow they had made a quick plan of it, deciding on driving down together instead of being smart and just taking the train. It had all been planned out—sort of, as planned as it can get with such short time and limited resources—and they had planned on leaving early in the morning that day so they can be in Busan by the afternoon. Except, for some reason, schedules had been messed up, and not only did Mina have to finish something last minute for her latest freelance gig, Seunghyun had to pull a last minute shift at the cafe in exchange for his friend covering for him during the next two days—and access to the car.
As he pulls up in front of her apartment building, he fishes his phone out of his pocket, easily pressing the speed dial for Mina’s number. “Hey, I’m out here,” he says, a smile on his face despite the tiredness he’s already feeling from an entire’s day worth of work at the cafe. “Do you need help with your things?”
if it hadn't been for the sound of clazziquai's ever so melodic beat, mina would've been flying from one part of her apartment to the other in an attempt to get everything together. she had been packed and orderly fixed for quite some time now but the fact that the rest of her apartment was left in chaos -- clothes strewn everywhere, last night's dinner in the sink (which she was currently trying to fix up and dry), bed unmade -- there was no way she was going to leave her apartment in such a mess. no, she was going to save herself the headache that she knew was to come later on.
with the rag dropping onto the back of the chair of her kitchen table set and the dried plates being put into the cabinets before she was able to go into the table set by her front door where her phone lay. "hello?" she says, forgetting to even check the screen for who was calling her in the first place, she could only guess who it would be. "oh, no -- i'll be right down. it's only the weekend, i don't have too much stuff." she giggles into the phone as she nearly races from her front door to her bedroom, kicking clothes into the laundry basket and throwing the duvet over the rest of her bed, at the least trying to fix the mess as quick as she could.
"i'll be right down, okay?" she listens closely for confirmation on the other line before she smiles softly to herself, biting her lip lightly as she stops herself at the vanity by her bedroom door. should she have dressed up? donned in a casual white t-shirt and cut-off shorts, she was dressed rather plainly -- she guessed dressing up the look with a pair of heels couldn't hurt but she was sure once she got into the car, the heels would come off just as fast as they'd come on, knowing how long of a drive they'd be in for. without another thought, mina picked the first pair of wedges that weren't already packed into her bag before slipping them just as quickly onto her feet, knowing the few inches would do well considering that seunghyun was by far a head or so (maybe even two) taller than she.
her purse is flung off the table, slipped onto her shoulder as she pulls the other bag of her clothes and lady utilities onto her the dip of her elbow before her key is tucked into the lock of her door as she closes it behind her. the elevator ride wasn't as long as it usually was, the younger girl wasn't entirely sure if it was because she was excited about this trip or the fact that she .. yeah, perhaps it was just that she was excited for this trip. stepping from the elevator into the lobby, mina walks from one door to the other, taking in the fresh air as it flew right past her face. the cool october air a nice change from her apartment's constant air conditioner temperature. it didn't take long for her to spot the car, making out seunghyun somewhat in driver's seat as her hand immediately rises to wave at him, feet moving automatically towards the vehicle.
