Occultist vs witch
There's something I'm wondering about. What is the difference between the terms occultist and witch? By definition they seem to take part in similar practices but I'm not sure. Please educate me!
Both terms are used broadly these days but you can look at them in terms of High Magic vs Low Magic and why we have grimoires written by Popes who should have been against all this occult stuff.
Go back to the middle ages or so and you have wealthy men supporting the study of occult sciences to understand god. This was high magic and wealthy men threw a lot of money at the church to ensure these studies didn’t get them burned at the stake. This is less of a danger these days but you may find that occultists still aim toward understanding the universe - a high magic goal.
It usually took money and position to pursue high magic. It was the domain of wealthy, powerful men.
Witchcraft however was seen as being aimed at more worldly, less godly, purposes. And much of it still is. A job spell isn’t an attempt to understand the universe. It’s work to support yourself. Healing, oddly enough, was often viewed in the same category as cursing - it was low magic interfering with god. Or perhaps there was just the understanding that if you could cure, you could turn that energy around and curse.
Witchcraft was earthier. It was done using those things that could generally be found where the witch lived. Herbs, kitchen tools, blood, spit, urine. It was distrusted because how could these uneducated peasants work magic? The devil must be involved.
These days there is more blurring between to two since information is more freely available and even simple witches can access texts and information on high magic. And Ceremonial Magicians may find they need a spell or two to help with their earthly needs.
But keep in mind - the original ideas behind white magic and black magic weren’t good vs bad but money vs poverty.
This is so fucking important!!
This also applies to physical health.
Several of the founders of the Pagan Movement from the sixties are dead because someone convinced them to try herbal teas and pretty rocks instead of, like, chemo. And by the time it was clear that it wasn't working, it was too late.
Honestly weighing the pros and cons of somehow getting myself involved with a leanansídhe.
Pros:
Beautiful fairy woman
Love
A bright creative career within my art/poetry which would be nice
Cons:
How to summon a leanansídhe??
Dying young I guess
Bringing this back again because maybe this will be the year for it
Also hi! I’m back and planning to be active on here again!
Okay, so when are people gonna stop calling Vodou, Hoodoo, Santeria, and every other Traditional African Religion black magic and by black magic, I mean evil because it’s 2018 2019 2020 and people are out here still thinking these religions are evil all because it’s not “Love and Light.”
Just a reminder that I’m an Adult™ and if that makes you feel uncomfortable feel free to:

I won’t get mad or anything. It’s important to make sure you feel comfortable and secure.

-usually I’ll be doing fairly unknown deities but I just gotta do my patron Aine <3-
Aine
Aine is a celtic goddess of love, summer, wealth, the sun and sovereignty. She is also known as the Queen of the Fae and the mother of many fae human hybrids, or magical humans depending on what myth you are reading.
Celtic legends say that Aine was the daughter of Eogabail, who was a member of the legendary Tuatha Dé Danann. In folklore, she was also recognized as the wife of the sea god Manannan Mac Lir – a deity who was very important for Celtic warriors.
Her cult began in Limerick, Ireland but has spread over many areas. She became a patron for women due to the time where women were in charge of guarding the homes causing a lot of hardship to these people, including sexual abuse, murder and cruelty. Aine was a light to these people because unlike many Goddesses of love’s myths her’s were very depressing. There were multiple stories of her being raped and murdered. It was believed she brought luck and good magic to her worshippers.

If you identify as a Nazi, neo-nazi, alt-right, fascist, or as a “national socialist”, unfollow me. You are not welcome here. I’ve had to block two Nazi witches in one day. It’s either unfollow me or get blocked when I notice who you are. Contacting me may risk cursing along with blocking, so if you really want to combat me on this, go ahead. 🖕🖕

Iris and Libra moon
Clíodhna (KLEE-nah) is a member of the Irish supernatural race, The Tuatha de Dannan and is considered the goddess of love, beauty, healing and the sea in Ireland. Her other titles include The Fairy Queen of Munster and the Queen of Banshees, who are fairy women who wail to warn of death. In this case she is a goddess of the afterlife and had lived in the Irish other world, Tír Tairngire. She has a palace in a pile of rocks in Cork County named Carrig-Cleena. Clíodhna is the daughter of Gabban, the Druid of Manannan Mac Lir (the Irish Sea God) and has a sister, Aoibheal, another fairy queen. Aoibheal and Clíodhna do not get along because they had both fallen in love with the same man; Clíodhna decided to change her sister into a white cat because Aoibheal did not renounce her love for him therefore I warn you against working with these two goddesses together. Clíodhna manifests as a young, fair-haired woman who is said to be the most beautiful maiden in the land and has three song birds flying around her who are said to heal the sick, wake the dead or put the living to sleep with their song. This goddess also has many siren-like qualities as well, she was said to use her beauty to lure men to their death by the sea shore or into the Otherworld. The wren is closely associated with the goddess because she transformed into one to escape a magician who planned to kill her.
The Blarney Stone
Clíodhna is mostly know for the back story of the famous Blarney Stone found Cork, Ireland. A man by the name of Cormac Laidr McCarthy became involved in a lawsuit and decided to seek help from the goddess. Clíodhna told him to kiss the first rock he came across while on his way to court so he would be blessed with the ability to deceive one with their words. With his newfound eloquence, Cormac won his case and decided to incorporate the lucky stone into the wall of Blarney Castle. The stone is a major tourist attraction and many people bend over backwards to kiss the stone in order to gain the the “Gift of Gab” like Cormac had.
Clíodhna’s Wave
Clíodhna had once fallen for a young mortal man by the name of Ciabhán and decided to renounce her immortality, leaving the Otherworld to be with her love. Many of the gods disapproved of her decision. One day when Ciabhán left on a hunting trip, Clíodhna headed down to the seashore where she was met with the beautiful music of Manannan Mac Lir which put her into a deep sleep. A giant wave came crashing onto shore, pulling Clíodhna into the ocean and back to the Otherworld where she was never allowed to return to the mortal world. Now in Glandore, Cork the tide or large, forceful waves are referred to as Tonn Chlíodhna or Clíodhna’s Wave.
