What does third-act happiness look like for Steve? It always felt like it had to involve Peggy Carter. Peggy’s home for Steve and that’s why in a lot of ways that movie [“Captain America: The First Avenger”], that original character, is kind of home for me. That’s the way I always will see the character. He has always been and always will be that little guy for me. That’s who [Cap] is.- Chris Evans

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) | dir. Joe Johnston
Finding out that Captain America 3 was originally meant to be a direct sequel the The Winter Soldier and would’ve focused on Steve and Sam’s search for Bucky, with a focus on Steve and Bucky’s relationship, but was scrapped for Civil War because DC released Batman vs Superman has actually ruined my day. Probably my week.
I’m so upset right now, what the hell.

Roger Stern in response to a letter asserting Steve’s “conservative” and finally stepping away from the “radical crowd” to represent the “American way”.
Once again, I really hate when people think Steve stands for America “as it is”. That’s never been the case in any Cap comic that I’ve read. And at this point, I’ve read damn near all of them).
[Image reads:
You see, Matt, Cap is not quite the rock-ribbed conservative you imagine him to be. As a matter of fact, he’s probably about as dead-center in the political spectrum as one can get. (Iron Man is probably a bit more conservative than Cap, coming as he did from a good, old-fashioned, entrepreneurial-capitalist family.) Steve Rogers/Captain America grew up during the worst economic depression in the recorded history of the world. Steve’s boyhood saw the growth of America’s labor unions, social unrest, and - yes - campus demonstrations. If anything, Steve Rogers probably grew up as a New Deal liberal! Otherwise, he’d have gone stark-raving man when he saw what the world was like after his many-decades sleep.
I guess what I’m trying to say, Matt, is that Captain America stands for truth, justice, and the American Dream. And anyone who thinks the American Way comes anywhere close enough to Dream is living in a fool’s paradise.
Sure, Cap in a little square, a little bit of a cornball! Don’t forget, he grew up nearly two generations ago! But that doesn’t mean he’s out-of-date or that he doesn’t relate to us. On the contrary, he can teach us a lot about where we’ve been and where we’re going.
And maybe, just maybe, he’ll make us all think a little along the way.

Just saw a GIF of Clint Barton in casual clothes holding a bow and am now convinced that in universe he has the same famous person situation as Tony Hawk. He is completely unrecognized in public unless in the vicinity of That One Object. ‘It’s random middle aged guy.’ He picks up a bow. ‘Holy shit it’s Hawkeye!’
