Rowling consistently makes passive income on all Harry Potter products. Multiple sources have cited that Rowling earns anywhere between $50 million to a $100 million each year from royalties. Forbes estimated she earned $95 million in 2017 alone. x x x

It is a well-known fact that she earns net profit percentages on all her IP. Every time you buy any HP merch, from anywhere, she gets a cut. Every time you watch one of her films, even streaming or just on the tv, she gets a cut. Every time you visit Universal Studios or Harry Potter World, she gets a cut.

And she uses that money to do this. To strip trans rights at every opportunity.

Millions of acres of national forests, including a sizeable portion in Michigan, may be cleared for timber production in a bid to reduce wildfire risk under a new U.S. Department of Agriculture plan.

USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins issued a memo Thursday that created an "Emergency Situation Determination" involving 112.6 million acres, or about 59% of all National Forest System lands.

The Department of Agriculture couldn't specify how many acres would be affected in Michigan. The state is home to about 2.9 million acres of national forest lands.

But a map provided by the department indicated a northern section of the Manistee National Forest and a ribbon of land stretching across the Huron National Forest would be affected. A large chunk in the western Upper Peninsula, in the vicinity of Ottawa National Forest, and several smaller areas in the eastern Upper Peninsula are included.

The memo follows President Donald Trump's March 1 executive order calling on Rollins to find ways to expand timber production by easing environmental reviews and simplifying federal permits in defiance of "heavy-handed Federal policies" that "have prevented full utilization of these resources" and made the United States "reliant on foreign producers."

Fucking wild to be teaching about Rosa Parks at the same time as a trans woman in Florida does an act of civil disobedience to use a women's restroom in the state capitol

As far as I know, she is the first woman arrested bc of this law. The law requires that the trans person be warned to leave the bathroom by a state official, and then if they stay they are guilty of trespassing after a warning.

So like, me, my gf, others just piss and nobody asks or tells, but this young woman sent a statement about the law to over 100 FL lawmakers so they would know she was coming, the cops were ready for her, she brought a reporter and went in anyway and spent the night in a men's jail. She is out on bail, and is hoping this will inspire change of the law. But if found guilty, and the law is upheld as constitutional, then she could spend up to 60 days in a mens county jail.

I really like this russian edition of classic books. Letting famous artists do the covers in YA style was such a simple but clever decision. According to the recent study the number of teenage readers increased, possibly thanks to these covers. I own traditional classics with blank covers but if I ever see one of these in the wild, it’ll probably make me go feral.
