@madtomedgar
Do we have a franz kafka diary entry for july 1st, i want to know what he thinks!!!
happy too tired July everyone
Stair kick with a 400% casualty rate. Jgy is grievously injured. Lxc is grievously injured. Nhs got accidentally backhanded and is, you guessed it, grievously injured. Nmj hurt himself in his confusion. Everyone was harmed in the making of this incident.
Why do i enjoy it when characters horribly misjudge what they will be able to handle and only figure it out once it's too late? It's a mystery we will never be able to solve
To all trans youth out there: I see you, I love you, I am proud of you being who you are in this extremely difficult time. I'm so sorry so many adults either want to attack you or have failed to protect you from those attacks.
You deserve a better world and we won't stop fighting until we make a better one.
And fuck the Supreme Court.
Last verse same as the first.
Fuck the Supreme Court.
You know that thing would eat you if you died, right? *pointing to the false image of you that others perceive*

Major benefit of @henshengs au where lxc adopts/kidnaps a moling su junior who is actually Jin Rusong is that it will force lxc to actually talk about jgy after his death. The kid is going to want to know what his dad was like and the two options are "let him believe the rumor mill" or "use your words." Yeah.
Hell option for post canon f!lxc is actually lsz. He has the name but he is adopted into the clan and definitively not a blood relation. It ties him very firmly to the sect. I could see someone thinking this solves a lot of problems. Awful.
If post canon, canon lxc gets bullied into marriage and children, he waits until his son is of age and everything is in a good place and then kills himself. If f!lxc gets bullied into same, she goes quietly insane, waits until the child is weaned, and leaves.
On the one hand if this had to happen it's probably good that it happened on the first day of my week off (office closed). On the other I know i am going to have the good old chronic illness depression crashout starting in a couple days especially if I am not 100% by tonight/tomorrow (unlikely. Better than yesterday but definitely still messed up) and I'm already getting stressed about my other jobs/all the errands I'm supposed to be doing rn. Ugh.
Post canon. Lan Xichen has surrendered to duty fully (it's what he deserves, it's the least he can do), come out, is doing his job, has gotten hetero married and produced an heir, it's like It never happened, the whole world has moved on, and it's been years since anyone, including him, has spoken Jin Guangyao’s name. He has an incredibly vivid dream of his last moments with Jin Guangyao. A-Yao asks him to stay and die with him, he agrees, but doesn't close his eyes. A-Yao looks at him, and in the same pitiful voice asks "Er-ge, why did you have to kill me twice?" and pushes him away. He wakes up.
concussion :(
headamche :(
duuuuuude you have GOT to come out tonight we're enacting cruelty upon those who have transgressed so badly that we can justify any act against them... and you KNOW we're interpreting our delight as moral righteousness... Yeah it's fucking crazyyyyyyy get an Uber
concussion :(
god. reminded against my will yet again how, purely in terms of serving the interests of his own sect, JGS is an infinitely better sect leader than JFM.
I went back and found the scene that inspired this post! (Assume from here on out that I'm talking exclusively about CQL canon. If this exchange unfolds similarly in the novel--since Luo Qingyang isn't a Jin disciple in novel canon, it can't be identical--lmk!)
Wen Chao orders everyone to give up their swords. Jin Zixuan refuses. Wen Chao becomes angry, and it's Luo Qingyang has to diffuse the situation while fending off harassment from Wen Chao. She invokes the Jin clan and Wen clan's close ties, and then she turns to Jin Zixuan and says this:
Which is SUPER INTERESTING because it suggests a level of honest-to-god political savvy from Jin Guangshan!
Earlier in the series, when Jiang Fengmian arrives at Cloud Recesses after Wei Wuxian and Jin Zixuan's fight, Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen pull him aside to speak to him about the Wen clan's uptick in aggression. Lan Qiren mentions that they've already spoken to Nie Mingjue. Notably omitted from this discussion is Jin Guangshan--who arrived at Cloud Recesses at the same time and for the same reason Jiang Fengmian did, so excluding him is a deliberate choice rather than a matter of convenience. Given what Luo Qingyang says about the Wen clan and Jin clan being buddy-buddy, one can assume Jin Guangshan was left out of the loop because the other sect leaders didn't see him as a likely ally.
EXCEPT!
If the Jin heir has been summoned to Nightless City alongside everyone else--including two sects that have already been attacked outright--that sends the message to Jinlintai that the Jin clan isn't protected anymore. Their special status is on thin ice!
So Jin Guangshan does what Wen Ruohan tells him to do and instructs the Jin contingent to be on their best behavior for now, and for the greater good. This suggests that he knows full well that the situation is fucked and is waiting to see what is best for the sect. Whether that's playing nice to avoid Wen Ruohan's wrath or turning against the Wen in a big way remains to be seen, but he wants to keep his options open. (It also shows that he knows his son's personality; you don't have to explicitly say "keep your head down and behave while you're in a volatile political situation" to someone who is inclined to do that, and Jin Zixuan did just get hauled into Lan Qiren's office for punching a classmate after voicing displeasure with his high-profile arranged marriage.)
And sure, considering a continued alliance with the imperialist mass murder sect is... not great, morally. It's wholly self-serving. But nobody except the Lan and Nie had openly turned against the Wen at this point, and '"not getting super killed" is in the best interests of Lanling's inhabitants.
Plus, when an exhausted Jin Zixuan shows up with all the other disciples in tow with a story about how they were almost fed to a giant demon turtle, Jin Guangshan's switch immediately flips to going against the Wen. He sends reinforcements to help rescue Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji and starts making military preparations, UNLIKE SOME OTHER SECT LEADERS I COULD MENTION. Some of it might be the personal insult of feeding his only valued son to a demon turtle, but it's also a smart move, because if the Wen clan is willing to blatantly harm an entire generation of upcoming sect leadership, all bets for alliance are off.
tl;dr I regrettably must give Jin Guangshan credit for doing a better job keeping his sect alive and prospering up through Sunshot. (Whether he's positioned it for long-term success later on is another story.)
There is a real possibility that lxc gets remembered as the worst lan sect leader in their history and it's not a likely one but it's definitely there.
