From the sampling of cdramas i have watched i can say i have so much respect for jgy as a character and mxtx as a writer because he is the only time I have seen someone go "yeah no my dad was a bag of dicks and im glad he's dead i enjoyed killing him the world is a better place he had it coming you're welcome." Everyone else is out here doing complicated life-ruining schemes to prove dad's innocence or going on dead-end revenge quests or killing themselves or some shit. So shout out to the only real one in the genre.

Fatal xiyao disconnect on the jade token. Jin Guangyao gives it back because he assumes that its access being shut off means that Lan Xichen no longer wishes him to have it, and is revoking the special relationship that went with it. To him this is almost a declaration of enmity. Lan Xichen want him to keep it because while it is inappropriate for the Lan sect leader to allow the Jin sect leader full access to the grounds while he is under suspicion, and while he personally can't allow Jin Guangyao access to the library etc now that he knows he's abused it, he is very much not revoking his friendship, and is trying to leave open the possibility of switching the token back on, and everything going back to normal, at a later date. Unfortunately because of how Jin Guangyao interpreted this, he thought he had to go through with things that guaranteed that would be impossible.

I am an adult in the US who voluntarily does not have a license. Do not underestimate my ability to resist a convenience or something that everyone is expected to do if I don't want to do it.

I much prefer being told that I have to do a thing, regardless of how I feel about it, and being allowed to feel however I want, to being told well of course nobody is going to force me, but being bombarded by constant persuasion tactics because the desired outcome is i do the thing but they feel uncomfortable with me not wanting to. You need me to comply, you don’t need me to agree.

Am i wierd? Is this not broadly true for others? Can people get comfortable with a lack of consensus please?

Should have taken today off for many valid reasons but also so I can spend a whole day thinking about how part of why Lan Xichen is never going to recover is because what happened reinforced and proved right every harmful narrative he had.
