Account switching

Hi everybody!

Since most of you write in English, I desume you don’t know my mothertongue, which is Italian, by the way.

As some of you know, this is my main blog and I also have a booklr. There I write about what I read, or share books pictures, and everything that makes a booklr what it is. But I realized that since it is a secondary blog it is more difficult to find and I also have to explain that this is me writing from mymain (since you can’t leave comments or any kind of note from a secondary blog).

For these reasons, I’ll switch to a new tumblr, moving all my secondary blog content to a new one, hoping to be able to find a similar name and not messing up things too much.

This is the first announcement, another one will follow with all the details. Thanks so much to follow me, I hope you will follow again.

Legit question, I’m not trying to hate on feminists or anything. Why is it called feminist if they’re for equality?

That’s a very good question and thank you for asking so politely. 

The word feminism was coined by Charles Fourier in 1837, a French philosopher who advocated for the emancipation of women because he believed society treated women as slaves. We weren’t allowed to vote, own anything, or work a real job. Women were ruled by their fathers/household patriarch until they married at which time they’d be under the rule of their husband. If a woman did not belong to male household she was shunned by society and had very little means to make money, most of them unsavory. You know the idiom “rule of thumb”? That comes from a running joke that started in the 1600s, and was still around in Fourier’s time, that said it was okay for a man to beat a woman with a stick as long as it wasn’t any thicker than his thumb. 

The point of the word feminist, and the feminist movement, has never been to say that women are better than men. The point is that women and things associated with women have been given a lesser place in society and we want to bring those things up to a place of equality. The focus is on the feminine because that’s what’s being pushed down. However, focusing on the feminine does not mean we’re focusing only women. Men are belittled and called “less of a man” anytime they portray a trait that is associated with femininity. If women and the feminine were equal to men and masculinity then that wouldn’t happen. Feminism is about raising up things associated with females to have an equal place in society as the things associated with males. It’s called feminism, not equalism, because the focus is on raising up not tearing down. Equalism would suggest that male things need to come down to a lower level so that female things can meet it in the middle. That’s not the point. The point is to raise up the feminine so that it’s on the same playing field that the masculine is already on. We don’t want men to lower themselves, we just want them to make room for us.

There are many women, self proclaimed “feminists”, who thinks this is all about putting men down. It’s legit to be confused, and to politely ask. And a polite answer is needed. This generates awareness, and understanding, which should both be our aim.

Vita di coppia 4 - vacanze insieme

Quando vivi insieme, non pensi che fare due giorni di vacanza da soli sia tutta questa novità. Quello che non ti viene in mente è che per quei due giorni sarete insieme, voi due, 24 ore su 24. Come non succede mai nella vita di tutti i giorni, perché si va al lavoro, si hanno cose da fare... persino nel finesettimana ho quelle due ore da sola che dedico ai panni da stirare (per lui) per la settimana successiva.

A Venenzia invece siamo stati appicciati tutto il tempo. E non mi è dispiaciuto neanche un po’. Quando poi arrivi all’inizio del secondo giorno che dici le cose in contemporanea talmente c’è feeling, non riesci a fare a meno di sorridere. Quanto è bello capirsi al volo, pensare la stessa cosa nello stesso momento. Non hai nemmeno bisogno di dire cosa ti passa per la testa che l’altro ha già capito.

A leggerlo così può sembrare soffocante, ma lo è solo nel momento in cui le cose non stanno davvero così. Soffocante è quando il tuo compagno/la tua compagna crede di sapere quello che vuoi e pensi, ma non lo sa. Quando invece siete una sola anima in due corpi allora è stupendo.

Ok, lo ammetto, sono una dormigliona. E a volte un po’ pigra. Lui dice che sto passando un periodo di leggera depressione, perché non sto lavorando al momento e meno faccio meno ho voglia di fare. Vita di coppia 2 - infermiere personale

Oggi sono stata male. La disgrazia di essere donne colpisce tutte, tutti i mesi, ma per me a volte è particolarmente doloroso. Oggi era una di quelle volte (adesso sono sotto antidolorifici, e niente mi garantisce che tra un paio d’ore l’incubo non ricominci).

In questi giorni così vorrei seppellirmi sotto le coperte e soffrire da sola, ma con un’altra persona in casa non si può. Voglio dire, dovevo preparare il pranzo e tutto. Ecco, dopo pranzo mi ha messa a letto, ha sparecchiato lui, mi ha lasciata sonnecchiare finché ho voluto e poi mi ha preparato il tè. Si era offerto di portarmi anche la borsa dell’acqua calda, ma con trenta gradi all’ombra no grazie.

Così ho trovato uno dei vantaggi di essere in due: non devo più morire da sola quando sto così male, ho il mio infermiere persona pronto a coccolarmi <3
