Havent seen a lot about this on tumblr so maybe not a lot of people know:

He was wrongfully raided by police in 2022

He used footage and names of the specific cops in posts, videos and songs making fun of them

The cops sued for defamation and cried in court about the songs ruining their lives

He won anyway

Jesse was the MVP of this episode and I don't even think he had even a minute of screen time

It's beneficial to the CEO that Robby is in a constant state of stress and emotion because it limits the ability to continue pressuring those above you. We see that Robby has compassion fatigue and he has stopped fighting systems like we saw in S1.

Knowing he's willing to argue with people, they intentionally sow discord between him and Al-Hashimi. It places Al-Hashimi as the target for the arguing but it also sows distrust in workers against her. The more discord they have, they can't form worker solidarity.

Keeping workers distracted and divided means they will stop bothering upper about any issues that actually need to be addressed.

i'm probably gonna say very little about fandom discourse around this ep because spring break starts next week and i'm running out of sanity but actually. i love everyone on the pitt being flawed and fucked up and nasty sometimes. i love robby being a hypocrite and repulsed by samira's anxiety because he's repulsed by his own. i love that, alternatively, samira is repulsed by her mother's loneliness because she's repulsed by her own, too. i love santos blaming langdon for her ostracization at the ED and her unwillingness to see that, separate of the langdon issue (however separate you can make it), if you go around being an asshole to your peers all the time, some people are just not going to fucking like you. i love that its garcia specifically who checks santos for the lack of decorum she's displaying in front of their patients in this ep because garcia herself could arguably stand to have a bit more decorum when talking about patients and she's also treating santos like a dogggg right now. i love that mel is overstepping boundaries with becca and coddling her in a way that doesnt allow becca the space she deserves to be an autonomous adult with autism who should be respected on her own terms because mel's also struggling with what it means to be an autonomous adult with autism who should be respected on her own terms. i think there's a difference between a show depicting characters behaving badly and cosigning their bad behavior. i think a good character and a good person are separate categories. i love that this is a show that isn't so obsessed with likability that it keeps its characters from behaving badly.

frankly, i hope these characters keep fucking up, and i hope they keep getting checked by their fellow fuck ups, because that's life, brother. there is no divine priestly class of sinless people who exist to tell the "bad" people off for their missteps. and i hope that, as the show progresses, we see robby, santos, mohan, langdon etc make more mistakes and better mistakes. and i love that this show, for all its flaws, is (imo) still holding true to its premise that people are not wholly defined by their best moments or their worst. no matter how uncomfortable it is to sit with that nuance or how tense that makes an episode of television lol.

becca king who has an active sex life and a boyfriend and wants to be independent and not infantilized and known first and foremost as 'becca' and not 'mel's sister'...............mel king who has structured her entire life around becca's needs and care and being 'becca's sister', even moving to pittsburgh specifically because becca got into an independent living center there, now not knowing what to do or who she is if becca is keeping secrets from her and no longer needs her..............pitt writers you are cooking with gas

i keep talking with other disabled folks about just how good disability rep in The Pitt is and they delivered another stunning example this epsiode!

Becca's arc this season has been so good for establishing the agency of people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). Becca calmly and repeatedly reminds Mel and others around her that she is capable - "I've been to a doctor before, Mel." Becca describes her symptoms to Langdon and asks questions, and Langdon treats her like an adult while also accommodating her needs! Langdon makes it to Becca that it's her decision whether to tell Mel about her diagnosis, and respects that when Mel asks him.

And then, it turns out Becca's UTI is in fact from having sex! There were folks online last week who immediately jumped to a conclusion that if Becca was having sex, it meant she was being taken advantage of. But there are plenty of adults with I/DD who can and do have consensual and healthy sex lives! It's extremely likely that Adam is someone who also goes to the independent living center, which is why Mel hasn't met him.

Becca's storyline has the potential to play a big part in shifting how viewers think about adults with I/DD, and i'm really hoping to see the show stick the landing with this plot next week by challenging not only Mel, but the audience, to see Becca as an adult with agency rather than someone who can't make her own decisions.

reminder that those "how to talk to [disabled people]" (wheelchair users, aac users etc) posts are very good guides for strangers and acquaintances.

But anything that the actual disabled person in front of you says overrides the general rules of politeness. and these might change day to day or person to person.

I've got some friends who read my aac screen because they're hard of hearing, or maybe I'm feeling self conscious about my voice that day, or want to have a more private conversation.

if I offer my crutch to you asking you to hold it for a moment, this supersedes the 'don't touch other people's mobility aids' rule.

conversations with friends are actually nicer for me if someone is on my level as a wheelchair user. But if an assistant in a store did that I'd run over their toes.

what I'm saying is trust the person you're with to know their wants and needs, and don't be scared if it contradicts the general rules of interaction that you've been taught.

(also don't be afraid to ask accomodation questions, they are usually well received. "would you like me to look away while you type/make your sentence?" Is a much more polite and relevant question than "what is that and why are you using it?")

hey idk how to articulate this part of being mentally ill but basically i feel like my life has been stolen from me in the most literal way and i can’t explain it without sounding like im making a million pathetic excuses

there is a large conversation in disibility justice spaces, about the importance of grieving and mourning the life you thought you would have (specifically for people who were diagnosed as teenagers, young adult adults, and adults). not only do we need to start identifying mental illness as a disability, but we need to allow mentally ill people to grieve the life we thought we would have and express the hardship we experience because we are disabled/mentally ill.

OP, you are so valid for feeling this way, and you deserve to be able to express those feelings without being shut down or ignored. because yes, a large part of your life and what you thought your life was going to be has essentially been stolen from you or changed or whatever because of your mental illness, and you’re not making excuses when you express these feelings
