Me when I first joined tumblr: *didnt look at the source of any posts, just reblogged what I liked*
Me now: "ok... this is a funny post... But let me check and make sure it's not one of the 150 people I vowed never to Endorse"

You’d think more than a year after this interaction, people would learn to stop asking female cosmonauts sexist questions. And yet, here we are. Russia is sending an all-female group into space — and not only were they just asked how they’d get by without makeup, but what they’d do without men. They shut it down just as quickly.
Women that are at the pinnacle of health and intelligence, and at the forefront of science, and they are asked about their hair. Fucking pathetic.
And people act like women in STEM fields are treated the same and their own disinterest is why there are so few of them.

IMPORTANT!
Please please please forgive my ignorance. But if they're deaf... How do they hear the music? I'm very confused. And I mean no offense at all by this xx
So okay–first of all being Deaf doesn’t mean it’s complete silence (just like being blind doesn’t mean every blind person has zero light perception. It’s a spectrum). So some Deaf people can hear certain frequencies of music and sound.
Secondly- you don’t need to hear it specifically the way hearing people do to enjoy it. Therein lies the big misconception that you have to be hearing to enjoy something like music. Deaf people can feel the vibrations of music and it’s kind of a whole body experience. Deaf people can also appreciate lyrics to songs as well– I mean–I thought that would be obvious.
I don’t mean this to sound rude, but it occasionally boggles my mind how little hearing people understand Deaf people and the Deaf community. Someone has done you lot a massive disservice because I get questions like this all the time and honestly I thought it was just common knowledge that music isn’t just for the hearing.
Then again I see all the time in fic people saying blind people don’t enjoy watching movies so….I guess it’s to be expected how abelist society really is.
sigh.

My favorite word is ‘almost,’ because it describes me more than ‘definitely’ or 'absolutely’ ever could.

my heart goes out to all the victims; the victims of the attacks on brussels, ankara, syria, paris and so many more places media doesn’t pay attention to, the people who will feel impact and so much islamphobia because of this, my heart goes out to the refugees who will get blamed
