Introduction

Hello, and welcome to my slice of the internet where I've chosen to spend my downtime arguing the intricacies of reality, fiction and humanity.

My name is Sephiroth. I can be referred to as he, she or they, and I am over the age of 18. I have been active in fandom spaces for over a decade.

The aim of this blog is not to incite arguments, witch hunts or bullying, and to the best of my capability I will mitigate these where possible, although I absolutely Do Not subscribe to the notion of 'don't name and shame.' The purpose of this blog is to hopefully facilitate a more greyscale and critical-thought view on how reality, fiction and fandom spaces are intertwined, connect, affect each other and influence each other.

The blog and its posts also hope to facilitate collected, open-minded discussions between opposing or conflicting views. As one such example, 'antis' and 'proshippers.' The ultimate goal is allow education, open-minded discussions about fandom, fiction and reality to become a standard commonplace as opposed to targeted harassment, uneducated misinformation, threats, ect.

What’s really upsetting is that I feel like the whole argument of “It helps disabled people!” can make a lot of disabled people, especially disabled children and teens, feel hopeless in what they want to do. My little sister actually went through this recently. She wants to make art, specifically stories, but she struggles a lot with it. Her disabilities make it difficult for her to draw on paper, she struggles with physical writing, and she can’t look at blue light for too long without getting awful headaches. So, she started using AI. She didn’t like it, because she was morally against AI, but she felt like she didn’t have any other option for actually making her stories. I only found out because she cried about it to me one night. We got a blue-light filter on her glasses and made the night shift on her devices permanent, and set her up with good drawing and writing programs. But I feel like there are many disabled people who might not have that support system, and who might end up working with AI because they feel like it’s their only option.

Which is just another example of why AI isn't actually intended to be accessible for disabled people, we're just a marketing tool.

If companies actually cared about disabled artists and disabled people who want to get into creative crafting and writing and painting, there'd be more universal information available regarding what options we have. There'd be more widespread knowledge about what additional needs we might have when trying to create art, and what accessibility tools we actually need.

Actual solutions to disabled people's needs are buried and denied because they're not rapid profit makers. Because they might cost a little more to make so profit margins drop. Because companies want disabled people to feel like they have no other choice.

I really cannot express just how much disabled people do not actually matter to generative AI companies, and how little they actually care about us beyond how they can exploit us in order to make money and protect the value of their product.

AI being marketed as a form of "accessibility" is a very deliberate and heavily pushed campaign. It's deliberately making a shield out of a classification of oppressed, vulnerable people.

Nobody wants to be the able-bodied dickhead telling a disabled person they can't or shouldn't be using an "accessibility tool." Nobody wants the reputation of a person arguing against disabled people "being able to make art."

"But disabled people!" is one of the most disingenuine, shitty, malicious defences possible for the use of generative AI and every single disabled person who uses it should feel ashamed of themselves for allowing themselves to be exploited and manipulated by greedy, disgusting billionaires who only care about profit.

People with no arms or legs learn to paint with their mouths. People who are paralyzed hairline to fucking toenails have learned to draw using eye-tracking software.

Speech-to-text software exists. You do not need AI to write your novel for you.

You're just lazy and allowing billionaires to exploit your vulnerability and needs for money. Generative AI was not, ever, created with accessibility for disabled people in mind. It just wasn't. It was created with profit in mind.

Disabled people do not need generative AI and disabled people who use their disabilities to defend using generative AI bring shame to every single one of us.

(And before anyone comes for me, I am saying this as a disabled person.)

This is Yongsan Cat Sanctuary.

They are facing eviction and obstruction due to large-scale on-going demolition and tear-downs which has resulted in many residential cats being abandoned while their owners move away, and many stray cats losing their shelters, feeders and safe hiding places.

Yongsan Cat Sanctuary is doing everything they can, but are facing extreme financial hardship over the eviction and over the sheer volume (300+) of cats that now urgently need their help.

All of the cats currently in the demolition zone are at immediate risk. It is incredibly hard to find, catch/trap, and relocate these cats, and Yongsan Cat Sanctuary are one of the very few attempting this monumental feat. They rely entirely on donations and volunteers. They are not receiving any official funding or assistance.

I think it's incredibly important to remember that bad people can still be likeable people. And that in fact, a lot of bad people are deliberately likeable, and use their likeability as armor.

It's harder to disagree with, or disapprove of, or convince other people that a likeable person is a bad one. It's so much easier to discredit your victims and sow doubt when everyone likes you.

I see a lot of media criticism of movies and tv shows at the moment, where people deem villains as 'too likeable' and 'too human' and 'its too hard to see him as a villain because of X and Y.'

And that is the whole fucking point.

Bad people often cloak themselves in likeability in order to escape the consequences of their actions and choices. Bad people are not always doing bad things 24/7.

For real though, don't let disabled sob-stories trick you into accepting the use of generative AI. Even quadroplegic people who use eye-tracking software have been able to 'draw' using tailored programs.

There is no excuse for promoting or using generative AI. And disabilities are not an excuse to dismiss the harm AI does.

Shitty moderation aside though, the original poster of the AI slop does seem to be a bot. Brand new account with no other content. The perfect, long-winded, excessively pity-farming sob-story about being the most disabled you could possibly be, how everyone around them is praising and encouraging their use of [very specifically named AI] and how they need AI to feel good about themselves. Commenting specifically about how fanart and source content is "grey area" and "free use" and "creative license." Speaking like ye olde person from the Very Important Professional Office.

I take the authenticity of it with a pinch of salt. The entire account and scenario just reeks of a bot created to try and promote a specific AI platform, and generative AI overall.

Fuck that moderator, though. (And fuck AI!!)

FYI, this is what trying to use the internet looks like if you allow your Government to dictate "age-based safety laws" like the UK's Online Safety Act.

None of these websites are pornography websites. None of these websites are explicitly for sexual content. None of the things marked as 'mature' are even remotely sexual.

An overwhelming amount of content dictated as 'mature' is non-sexual LGBTQ content. That hidden Tumblr post is literally a non-sexual image of two Thai BL actors kissing at a premiere.

Your data is not deleted. Your data is held permanently (Discord even admitted despite claiming they do not store their data that they actually do after doubling back on people using AI generated videos to pass the verification check) and tracked and sold.

Most websites are reporting an exponential rate of hacking and data breach attempts on a daily basis. Within 24 hours of Discord implementing the Act, they were breached. A huge amount of personal information was irrevocably stolen and sold.

This is Stage One in your online activity being used to control you on an unfathomable scale and determine your ability to access things like the internet, your digital finances, ect.

This is not scaremongering. This is not a conspiracy. This is literal reality.

It isn't saying you'd harm little children or you'd shoot someone's dog in the face or you think all women under 40 should be raped until they've had at least one child.

Ragebait is inciting harmless anger for funsies. Watching someone tweak out because you keep telling them the sky is actually green. Moving everything in the house slightly to the left to listen to your dad bang his knee every morning and curse the roof off of the house.

Telling a grieving mother you're going to graverob her child and rape it's dead corpse? Not ragebait.

And, yes. The vast majority of these comments are just bots. But there are also handfuls of shitty little teens and fuckless grown men who think 'extreme dark humor' is peak comedy and edgy and fuckability.

And it simply isn't.

I mean genuinely. Go to your next family dinner and proudly tell them you spend your free time telling assault victims you hope their abusers come back and kill them too.

Genuinely go into your workplace and tell your colleagues and bosses that you spend your time commenting on videos of peoples' children online that you'd rape them.

Not even as a 'gotcha.' Just genuinely tell them. See what they think about it. If it's ssssoooo funny and edgy and cool, surely, nothing is going to come of it, right? They'll laugh and clap you on the back and life will continue as normal.

Tell your friends you commented on a cute video of a dog online with a whole paragraph about how you'd strangle it with your bare hands and cut it's body into tiny pieces and feed it to the dog's owners.

Do it.

It's just harmless funny ragebait, right?

I say this as someone who is physically disabled but actually.

If the literal only way I can access a natural area like a mountain, beach, ect means we have to devastate the landscape and install massive ugly monstrocities of mechanised lifts and walkways, run power lines, ect ect...

I actually don't need to go there that badly. I can go somewhere more accessible and just as beautiful. I don't need to ruin beautiful, natural areas with more man-made shit.

There is a huge difference between installing a relatively small, removable, non-impactful ramp or wooden pulley-system lift and carving out half the landscape for some ugly ass electric lift.

Nature-friendly accessibility is one thing, but if we have to erode and destroy and remove the natural landscape, impact local wildlife and it's habitats, ect...

Not even just for disabled access but for human access as a whole. We don't need to go there that badly. We do not need to climb that mountain. There are thousands of beaches. We can go to a different one.

A lot of you do not understand how terrifying and difficult and dangerous a reality without easy, immediate access to unlimited, clean, drinkable, safe water is and it shows.

This isn't even solely about AI centers, although they are currently one of the leading issues with water wastage right now.

It's about sewage dumping. Microplastics. Toxic waste dumping. Improper cleaning and maintenance of water systems. General water wastage. Water hoarding.

It fascinates me when people will see a post you make with a specific point, go 'I disagree' or 'yes, but—' and then... Regurgitate your exact point. Just worded differently. Usually in a more long-winded elaborate ramble.
