Ramen!
So I've been waiting for something DELICIOUS to come along for my next post... it was a long time coming but finally... I GIVE YOU RAMEN!
This was the first time I've ever tried ramen and it was GREAT! As I understand it, most ramen has a pork base, which includes pieces of pork (which I am NOT a fan of) in the broth. To my surprise it tasted great.
You can choose the firmness of your noodles, the strength of your broth and the items you want to sprinkle into your ramen. I had garlic chips and a poached egg (which adds flavor).
The only part that I didn't like about my ramen was the ginger (which I hate!) but I'm told that you can have it without this. You can also add soy sauce, chili oil, and pepper to your soup. Overall it was delicious and I will be going back for seconds!
mmmm its almost that time of year again :D CANT WAIT
GREAT Indian Food in Los Angeles!
Agra Tandoori in Tarzana has become my favorite place to eat Indian food in Los Angeles. The naan and tikka were amazing and I really enjoyed the atmosphere.
This peach sauce is amazing, although the samosa is NOT. Together, they were actually pretty good! I have to admit I pigged out and still came home with leftovers. I can't wait to go back!
Corner Bakery Cafe- Best Caesar Salad EVER!
So one thing that I love very dearly and always end up getting at least once in every restaurant I go to is ... CAESAR SALAD!
The best I've ever had has been at the Corner Bakery Cafe in downtown Los Angeles. Have you ever CRAVED caesar salad? I hadn't either (despite my love for it) until I tried it one faithful day at this place.
It might not look like much (at first I thought it would be bland and tasteless) but let me tell you, the chicken is PERFECTLY seasoned and cooked, and the home made dressing is absolutely exceptional. It's balanced too, not too salty or greasy, and the croutons, OMG the croutons! Perfect crunch and light garlic flavor.
They also have amazing paninis (like the chicken pomodori panini in the picture) and home made soups. At lunch it might seem to be really hectic, with loads of people from the office buildings nearby, but service is really fast and friendly.
The atmosphere is cozy and bright and people are generally in a great mood. I especially love how the seats are set up close to each other at certain locations so that you can make new friends if you want!
Definitely give this place a try when you're in the neighborhood. They also have locations in various cities around Los Angeles. Mmmmm I can't wait to try the pastries!
A Tasty Treat :)
A nice morning surprise :)
This one takes the noodle!
Cooking for ma BABAY- Things Your BF will Love
Here's a few things I've made over the last month for my boyfriend. He finally moved into a place where the kitchen is clean enough to cook in and in between school and reading massive law books, I throw together meals he appears to be really liking. :D
Here's some P.F. Chang's orange chicken with my FIRST attempt at making rice EVER. I used a rice cooker :). It was delish!
This is chicken breast with Trader Joe's rosemary potatoes and some light salad.
I make the chicken breast using no oil in the George Foreman grill. I lightly salt and season it to taste and it's ready in a few minutes. The rosemary potatoes were a first time try and worth it. Will definitely make again!
Chicken breast with Trader Joe's chow mein and pepperoncinis.
I love Trader Joe's chow mein because it's quick and delicious. A bowl of black olives and a glass of apple juice completes the meal :D.
Providence- New (to me) Restaurant in L.A.
My boyfriend decided to surprise me when I casually mentioned that I was in the mood for some steak by taking me to this place...Providence. It's hardly the steakhouse I was expecting but the food was creative and exceptional.
Lobster ravioli with truffles and parmesan foam
We decided on an appetizer that sounded delicious, Lobster Ravioli with truffles. The foam stuff is just parmesan cheese foam which I thought was a little bit strange at first glance, but I think the idea was to keep the cheese from overpowering the truffles. MMMM lovely.
Before we even got the appetizer we were pleasantly surprised at a boxed array of amuse bouche. These were little, complimentary tastings of some tuna in pastry and mozzarella with tomato sauce in pastry. There was also a shot glass filled with light pea puree and topped with parmesan foam. These were each really yummy. They even had seaweed bread!
Providence has 2 styles of menu, one being a variety of chef's tasting menus ranging in price and an a-la carte menu that you can pick and choose from. I wanted the veal from the chef's menu and they were kind enough to let me have it!
Veal with mushrooms, pea puree, and parmesan foam
Although it seems like the chef is a bit "foam happy," the veal was very tender and melted in my mouth. I never even had to chew! It's not my favorite style of veal I've ever had but it was happiness in my mouth :).
After an outstanding meal complete with 3 rolls of fresh-made bread O:) , we were too stuffed for desert. However, we were in luck when the waiter brought over a small sampling of their home-made marshmallows and caramel treats with the check. What a wonderful way to end the meal.
This place is a bit fancy and the food is a little fussier than I usually like, but it's a really calm and pleasant atmosphere (mimicking the bottom of the sea under a boat, complete with barnacles on the walls). They're famous for their seafood so I will try that next time .... Hey honeeey... I'm in a very "tuna" mood :D.
if you ever try the GLT in LA, please let me know how it goes.
glt? whats that
rainbow flavors in my mouth :D
