Wind- Now with new and improved hair!

As mentioned in my update post yesterday (no worries if you didn’t see it), I’ve decided to update a few of the older dolls.The alterations I’ve made to Wind are very noticeable, but changes to other dolls probably won’t be as obvious.

The changes:

1. The hair - I’ve never been super happy with his hair, so I decided to try a technique that I used on Hyrule to make his hair look more fluffy. 

2. Unfinished edges of the tunic, undershirt, and pants - I’m not sure why this started bothering me, but it did. I went around the edges with a blanket stitch to make it look more finished. Please ignore the darker blue thread, I couldn’t find the original color.

3. The pendant- the original one was held together with prayer and hot glue, so it’s no surprise that it fell apart in storage. Decided to go a different route this time because I didn’t want it to be as fragile this time around.

4. The embroidery- I saw a triangle and thought ‘that would be really easy to turn into a triforce’. Honestly, I’m not sure why I didn’t do that to start with.    Other Linked Universe Dolls:

LU Doll Update- Notice of Alternations

Been taking some time today to revisit and fix some things on the LU dolls. I don’t intend to do this often or for every doll, but I’ve learned new techniques with each doll I’ve made. I’d like to update some of the older dolls, so you might notice dolls getting reposted with some alternations. I’m not remaking the dolls, simply adding on to or fixing the existing dolls.

Most of these alternations probably won’t even be noticeable to anyone except me. Just know that if something looks different, then it might have been updated since the original post. There’s only one doll where it’s going to be noticeable, but I think it will be a change for the better. All post will remain the same, but be labeled as old or new going forward.

Found this while cleaning off some of my shelves and even though it’s not the normal LU felt dolls, I felt like sharing. I made this 5-ish years ago, and as of right now she’s the only one. I’m not sure if this is considered a doll or sculpture due to lack of fabric and stuffing. She is fully separate from the base and her arms and legs are posable thanks to a wire frame skeleton. For now I’m just going to call it the Zelda flower petal fairy.

The miniature weapons from the blind boxes are a little small for the dolls, but I’m just going to go with it.

Warriors!

If you’re thinking ‘I bet she’s kicking herself for making Warriors instead of Time’ you would be right. This doll had already been in the works for a while. Plus I wanted to tackle Warriors first to get an idea about how I wanted to make armor going forward. I ended up landing on a thin cardboard (literally a pop tart box cause that’s what I had on hand) and hot glued the felt on top to maintain a cohesive look. Is the scarf perfect? No. Did I forget to make sure his bangs were down before taking the photos? Yes, but it’s too hot to go back outside right now. Overall I’m happy with how it turned out, and here’s to the next!

Hyrule!

There’s not much to say about this doll besides the fact that I was very close to making a pair of magnetic fairy wings. I still might add that in the future, I just really wanted to get this out early June. Also it is very difficult to find multiple different shades of brown felt, and I might have sacrificed a cheap cat collar for the belt buckle to avoid having to make one out of clay. Overall I’m pretty happy with how this doll turned out. I’m still a little on the fence about the hair, but I think I would have actually went insane if I had spent anymore time on it. For now I’m guess I’m going to stick to making all the Links before moving onto side characters.

Fun fact about me: I prefer physical copies of games over digital. I also try to support my local game stores by placing orders in store instead of online. (Plus I’m impatient and in the past preorders I’ve ordered online don’t arrived until days after release even tho it’s guaranteed to be delivered on release day)

Today I went to pick up my preorder of Echos of Wisdom, only to find out that the shipment never arrived at the store. 🥲

The original plan was to make Legend and Ravio at the same time, but I wanted to post this before Echos of Wisdom came out and I ran out of time. I took some liberties with the tunic because I couldn’t find a good reference for the embroidery, and personally I like the idea that his eyes are purple while Ravio’s are green.

Update: Are the dolls for sell?

Okay, so this kind of blew up over the weekend. I can’t express how happy it makes me to see other people enjoy my dolls as much as I do.

I’ve seen some people saying they would/wanted to buy them, so I thought I would address that. As of right now, I’m NOT looking to sell them, and I don’t have a shop set up to sell them. It is something I’ve considered (and still kind of am). Each doll takes a good amount of time to make, and this is something I just do in my free time because it makes me happy. There’s a good possibility might I will change my mind, and if I do I’ll post about it here. Right now I just want to continue making things that make me happy without the added stress of a deadline. 

I’m sorry to those that are disappointed, but I hope you stick around to see what comes next. My plan is to continue with the Linked Universe dolls, and maybe throw in dolls from other video games like Final Fantasy VII (I actually already have 2 of those made if y’all are interested in that). So once again, just a huge thanks to everyone for the support! It honestly made my entire week, maybe even month.

I’ve been replaying BotW before TotK comes out, and I was reminded of this screen shot from my first play through. I’d like to think that this is the equivalent of a light bulb moment. Link gets a brilliant terrible idea, and Wolfie is already just so done. Seriously though, I have questions about why there is just a random floating campfire in the middle of the desert.

And done with Wind! I have no idea what color his eyes are supposed to be, so I went with black since that's how they appear in the games. Also I had a bit of a hard time with the hair. The first attempt came out looking more like Warriors, but I think I'm happy with how it turned out.
