I saw some James Webb Telescope scientists give a talk and one of them said this was her favorite image because she had waited and worked 25 years to see this.

If I ever share anything that was AI generated it is purely by accident. I hate that it's getting harder and harder to tell and it makes me want to never use the internet again. It definitely had its faults, but man I miss the internet of the 2000s so much.
Adding to this: please TELL ME if I share something that is genAI and you know it is. I want to know this information.

I made these for free use, edit them, put text on them if you like but they are mostly just posters to piss others off and send a message to those who understand that they need to stay strong and fucking united, actually united. They're starting to criminalize just HELPING the unhoused. They want us alone and scared, don't let them win.
there will be better days than what youāre stuck in right now. I promise.

I have so many thoughts on this book and Iāll try to keep them as concise as I can. First, I loved that the book is a vastly different creature from the movie franchise. They share the same DNA and yet had totally different outcomes. I also really loved that while reading I could see which scenes from this book made it into the various movies and seeing the little pieces that potentially sparked the tv shows. Not to mention the dinosaurs! I loved the velociraptors, they had so many moments to shine and be truly terrifying.
Second, I wasnāt expecting the rant about billionaires and the messes they make just by thinking they can play god because they have money to throw around. But my god, if that isnāt something that weāre all still mad about, especially with the absolute messes theyāve created now. Also, the climate change rant was very interesting, especially because this was written in the 90ās. And justā¦Dr. Malcolm in general, what an icon. Loved that he was very unapologetic about telling Hammond to go fuck himself via mathematics and chaos theory. Also, Hammond got what he deserved at the end of this book š¤·āāļø.
And last but not least, there were definitely some things that I didnāt like about this book. For one, there were so many places where the writing felt shallow and lazy. Maybe from having so many POV shifts? And for another, some of the characters felt really hollow. Again, this probably came from having too many POVās throughout the book. But thatās just my opinion š¤·āāļø.
All in all, this was a good and entertaining read. Iām definitely looking forward to jumping into The Lost World. Jurassic Park is getting four out of five stars from me.

When I was posting the link to my @janeuary-month Persuasion fic, tumblr tried to insist the post should be labelled mature because of the images I'd included. I didn't want my fic being labelled mature so I took the pics out. So here, for your perusal, are those scandalous images!
And it's just occurred to me that they fulfil the Janeuary 22nd prompt: Gloves
For those that use StoryGraph, Iāve created a challenge to Read Your Way Around Ireland! The concept is simple: read a book by an author from every county (plus some bonus prompts if thatās not enough).
Iāve included one book for each section to start off but am looking forward to people recommending more! Itās not time sensitive so feel free to include books youāve read in the past as well as books you read this year, next year or beyond.
Your 2026 isn't doomed if you spent jan 1st with people you don't like, or if it's complicated. It's ok if you felt like crying from something other than happiness while the fireworks were high up in the sky, if you were lonely or trying not to think about how time flies these days.
I still wish you a wonderful 2026; you have so much love left to give, so many days and hours and moments to cherish and miss when looking back.
Happy New Year ā¤ļøšš„
I am shocked at how many people don't have an actively hostile relationship with advertising
I am skipping your ads as fast as I can. I'm skipping past your sponsor read. I'm muting the tv. I'm muting the tab. If they get too annoying I will simply stop trying to watch.
If advertisers can use every manipulative trick in the book to get me to buy their product, I am fully within my rights to do everything I can on my end to make their job impossible
