Betty White: First Lady of Television (Netflix)
i was told today âyou handle deaths well, and talk with the families at such a personal level and let them feel heardâ at first it was a compliment, but then i asked myself âwhy is thatâ is it because the last several months (more recently) i had to talk with families about their loved one whoâs not going to make it, or how iâve gotten so good at the death navigator (if you donât know what that is, feel thankful), or how I explain to the families whatâs going on. i donât know the answer. the only answer that comes to my mind is ânumbness, trauma, and doing this way too damn muchâ as i left work today I was âpreparedâ that the next day i work iâll have a certain patient because that day the family decided to take that person off life support. cool, letâs add another person to my list and another family to console while iâm internally breaking down instead each time. it doesnât just âget easierâ we get numb. we all will need serious therapy when this is all over.
being a covid icu nurse isnât easy. today i did cpr on a patient and felt his ribs crack beneath my hands, my coworkers and i got the patient back, until he coded again a few hours later and we lost him. then walking into another patientâs room acting like everything is just fine⊠it starts to get to ya

#idk what this means or if i do this but ig i'll just hold my phone with my pinky stuck out from now on??Â
Good question, also no that wonât help.
shitty MS Paint 3 minutes doodle, nto entirely accurate: When you have your pinky hooked on the âbottomâ edge of the phone for the extra security so it doesnât slide out of your hand that easily, youâre wreaking damage on your hand, since the pinky is extremely askew from itâs resting position. You might have noticed that when you hold your phone like that for long time it begins to hurt, like when you are gripping a pen too tightly for example.
Green lines - the fingers are going their natural way. Red line - the pinky is way off, thatâs bad.
Me: Oh, good thing I never-
Me, looking down at hand: By talos this can't be happening
