✨ hello and welcome to my tumblr ✨ alana, she/he as a little treat; if you never use he i will not notice or be bothered lol. i have been on the internet for way too long which means i like a lot of stuff, you will see some of it randomly pop up from time to time. atm you'll get mostly rook posting dragon age with sides of PHM and heated rivalry. i do not know the definition of words like brief and concise so i make a lot of too long text posts about my ocs and things. i don't mind being tagged or sent asks though i might not aways get around to doing the thing, but know that i am happy for the inclusion :) blood, trauma, and freaky kinks are welcome.

i won't say i like to write, but i do like to daydream up intricate blorbo scenarios which i sometimes get around to writing down so other people will see them too. im catnip @ ao3. you'll find a lot of solrook! hashtag myship 💜 once in a very blue moon i might make gifs or other things.

created for a curse of strahd game in 2020, he has blossomed into a whole lot of different versions. occasionally a werewolf. he's the kind of person a teacher would say was a pleasure to have in class and mean it; he's sweet and kind and helpful... to his extreme detriment. there's so much anxiety in this baby. he will bake you bread when you didn't even ask and will talk your ear off about magic, space, and science in general. also wears gloves 24/7. his other half is emeric and they make me insane<3 i often refer to him as the boy.

my rook! sasha is a true crypt baby, born and raised fully in the necropolis. he loves anatomy/the body and corpses and is deeply respectful of the dead and death. his mom was possessed by a spirit during pregnancy and sasha came out a little odd, but he doesn't know that. the mom part- he is very aware of his oddities. a lifetime of maladaptive coping mechanisms made him far odder<3 he's charming and witty, gets along with everybody, and never met somebody he couldn't forgive. sasha knows how to play instruments, draw, carve, weave, and a ton of other creative pastimes, but can't learn languages for the life of him (don't ask about dancing either.) occasionally hallucinates and may or may not have anger issues. also, he is a big ol' slut💋

she's platonic about it but in my opinion, stratt 100% treats grace as her dead wife. she keeps a tacky fox trinket in her coat pocket. there's a framed photo of him in her study . he's grinning goofily in it (bc he's a dork). new guy like: is that her husband? / no, dumbass, it's dr. ryland grace, 1/3 of the hail mary mission. / oh, fuck. were they... ? / yeah, it's unclear. black-and-white montages of grace messing around in high-level meetings play every time stratt contemplates committing more environmental crimes. she looks up at the night sky and vaguely wonders if he's enjoying his space ramen. that's her dead wife. she killed him.

15 Weapons to Use in Your Fight Scenes

Not every fight needs a sword or bow or axe. Sometimes your character just grabs whatever's closest, or you need a more unique weapon for a scene, or you’re just tired of writing ‘they drew their blade’. Here are 15 weapons to use for those moments:

Modern Weapons

1. Kitchen Knife: Unglamorous and painfully realistic. It's already sitting on the counter. Great for a fight that isn't planned.

2. Baseball Bat: Blunt force, easy to swing, awful to actually get hit with. Works well for a character who isn't trained but is angry enough to land a solid hit.

3. Crowbar: Menacing without being flashy. Good for a break-in gone wrong.

4. Broken Bottle: Messy, improvised, and can be tied into what the character was doing right before this fight.

5. Chain: Heavy, awkward, and genuinely hard to use well, which makes it great for a character who's improvising and losing.

6. Garrote/Wire: Quiet, brutal, but not the best for a spur-of-the-moment fight.

7. Cast Iron Pan I will die on the hill that this one's underused. Rapunzel convinced me pans are the ultimate fighting tool.

8. Nail Gun Modern, industrial, and genuinely terrifying in a construction site or warehouse setting. Rarely used in fiction, which is exactly why it stands out.

9. Belt: Simple, always available, and works both as a weapon and as a way to restrain someone.

Classic Weapons

10. Letter Opener: Small, sharp, and easy to hide in a sleeve or a desk drawer. Perfect for a quiet, up-close kind of danger.

11. Hunting Knife: Practical and often already on hand for characters who spend time outdoors. Less dramatic than a dagger, more believable.

12. Fire Poker: Sitting right next to the fireplace, which is exactly why it works so well. What's in reach also says something about where they are.

13. Hatchet: Smaller and more manageable than an axe, but still does damage. Good middle ground for a character who needs a real weapon but isn't a trained fighter.

14. Cane/Scepter: Sharp tip, solid shaft, and completely inconspicuous until it isn't.

15. Hot Wax/Candle: A nicely aimed throw can end up blinding, burning, and even permanently scarring an opponent.

for the sake of argument i am aware that rook and their journey throughout dragon age the veilguard is not at all a chosen one trope but i’m filing it under that because it feels right to Me

every time i think about rook and the things they go through during this expedition i can’t help but get so emotional because tell me why this person of no importance, who’s only ever tried to do good things in their life suddenly gets tasked with the heavy burden of saving the world from blighted elven gods. rook is just a person, a simple, regular person with a penchant to do what’s right, even when it goes against what their society deems as “right,” who suddenly has 7 companions (and the rest of thedas) looking to them for all the answers. they’ve never done anything like it before, at least not on such a grand and important scale, yet this role is thrust onto them nonetheless.

they’re flawed. they’re good. they have a thousand good qualities to rival the bad ones, they’re not perfect, but everyone expects them to be. they make mistakes and pay for the consequences. they save countless lives and get little recognition for it. they never expected a simple mission—for which they were recruited because they were sent away from their home for choosing to help people rather than conform—to turn into the expedition they find themself on, yet here they are.

it’s merciless, unforgiving, deadly, and they know that, despite their best efforts, some of their companions might not make it to the end of it all. they’re pulled in every direction, feeling the need to take care of their companions and their troubles, wanting to support them in every way they can, even when that’s not sometimes possible. they work themself to the bone day and night, forgoing sleep to find every possible solution to every possible outcome. it’s almost irrational, that need to control it all, if only to save the people they’ve come to care about so deeply.

and despite it all, they keep going. ignoring the fatigue, the anger, the grief, the ceaseless problems that seem to crop up out of nowhere, they always push through. because they have to. because it’s demanded of them. but also, more importantly, because they want to. because it’s something that calls to them, deep inside, to help people.

they would destroy themself to save the people they care for, to save the entire world, and that fact alone makes me want to die every time i think about it.

This gave me a pit in my stomach. How could they possibly lay off one of their best talents? Fucking disgusting, I wish Bethesda never got bought out by Microslop. Between this and the PS6 being projected to be over one THOUSAND dollars for base model- gaming is seeing some dark times. It's been my dream to someday work at Bethesda or another AAA studio that makes games I love- but to see that every member of their team is so disposable makes me not want to do that.
