And communicating.
forgiving what exactly?
Forgiving the fact that they’re people who are working through their past, like you, and will occasionally project their past traumas on you the way you might with them. Forgiving yourself, because growth takes time, and learning to be a pair is more work than just being on your own. Having partners you trust to forgive those moments where you might fall, help you back up and move forward, in my opinion, builds up the trust and love you need for a thriving relationship.
That last comment was beautiful.

“You’re fucking with me,” you said in disbelief. Remus shrugged.
“I’m not running at that,” you nodded to the brick wall before you.
He tapped his foot as you crossed your arms, “you’re gonna make us late.”
“You do it.”
A smile spread across Remus’ face, “ok”.
You stared at disbelief, he’d just vanished into the wall. “Ok, Y/N, you got this,” you took a deep breath and ran at the wall. “Wahey!”
You rolled your eyes at him.
It was your first year getting the Hogwarts Express to Hogwarts, your first year you arrived via Floo Network.
“Look who’s arriving together,” James winked, “Hand in hand- oh no, my bad.”
“Shut up,” you swatted at him.
“I got the matches list,” he began.
Remus clicked his fingers and put his hand out, you placed 2 galleons in it.
You answered James’ bewildered look, “we bet how long it would take for you to mention quidditch.”
He didn’t even try to defend himself as Sirius sniggered.
“Anyway, Hufflepuff vs. Gryffindor is the first match - 1st October.”
“We’ll kick your ass.”
You’d joined the Hufflepuff team as chaser the second week you arrived, it had helped you make friends in your own house and bond with Remus’ friends.
“Are any of you guys taking potions, by the way?”
“We all are,” Sirius nodded.
“Thank Godric, it’s a popular Hufflepuff topic apparently so I’m with Gryffindor,” you smiled, standing up, “I’m gonna go sit with my house friends.” “Ok, we’ll save you a seat so you can join for dessert,” Remus smiled.
You smiled and waved them goodbye, sliding the door behind you so all you could hear were muffled voices (“pathetic, mate” “what?” “oh sorry, just friends”).
After greeting all your new housemates from the sorting, you ate the feast with your friends - laughing and catching up about the summer holidays.
“Ok, I’m going to-”
“Your boyfriends table,” your friend, Delphine, teased.
You rolled your eyes as your other friends laughed, “for dessert, I’ll see you later.”
“Y/N!” James cheered as you sat down next to Remus.
“Hello, hello,” you smile, “ice cream please.” Remus loaded your bowl up with ice cream then passed you the sauces, “Sirius has a question for you.”
“Delphine -”
“I don’t even need to hear the rest, no,” you said sternly.
The boys laughed as Sirius shrugged.
Remus poured himself a cup of tea, “timetable, please.”
You put your hand into your robe pocket and withdrew a folded piece of paper.
He scanned over it, “yeah we do have potions together.”
“Oh, good,” you mumbled through a mouthful of ice cream.
James and Sirius were staring at you, “how do you never get brain freeze?”
You just shrugged and ate more ice cream.
“Oh, Y/N, do you want to play quidditch tomorrow after school,” James said just before you parted ways, “it’s been awhile.” “Yeah, of course,” you smiled, rejoining your Hufflepuff friends.
“So,” Delphine linked her arm with yours, “what’s really going on with Remus?”
She was your best girlfriend but she did go on about his, “Nothing, Delph, nothing at all.”
In all honesty, all you were sure about with Remus was that you always needed him in your life.
He was your rock.
You didn’t want to risk losing that by thinking about how you felt too much.
So, you left it.
“Morning, morning, morning,” you greeted, “happy first day.”
“Always so loud!” Delphine huffed, throwing a pillow at you.
“I’ll see you later,” you said, picking up your tie and heading down for breakfast.
For you, breakfast was at the Gryffindor’s table but, that didn’t really matter, no one got up as early as you.
“Y/N HEADS!”
You snapped your head up to see a goblet hurtling at you, ducking your head just in time.
“Sorry about that,” a second year mumbled. You smiled back kindly, “no worries, maybe don’t swish so much next time.”
“How come when we throw stuff at you, you yell?” Sirius asked, taking the seat opposite you.
“Because you guys are idiots.”
Remus chuckled, sitting next to Sirius and pouring himself a cup of tea.
It was nice to make him laugh.
“Hey, Lils,” you greeted, and begun a catch up about your Summer holidays that you were so immersed in, you forgot your potions textbook.
“I’ll tell Slughorn you’ll be late, no worries,” Remus smiled, seeing your panicked expression.
You sprinted back to the Great Hall and grabbed your book, rushing back to the dungeons in “record time”, Sirius decided.
Everyone had begun copying a recipe from the board when you walked in, the beginning speech had been missed- although you could guess it was about the 4 potions in front.
“It’s girls boys,” James informed you, moving his satchel that sat between him and Remus.
“Oh, weird,” you frowned, taking out your parchment and quill.
Remus looked up, “we’re brewing draught of living death”.
“Cheery,” you wrinkled your nose, “but maybe it can get rid of this smell- Jesus, Rem, did you spill tea on yourself this morning?”
You felt James stiffen next to you.
Remus frowned, “no”.
You were going to reply but decided against it, returning to your notes.
“Ok class,” Slughorn clapped his hands together, “your time begins now.”
You moved your cauldron into your usual space, below the small skylight, as Slughorn moved the potions behind you.
As the lid shifted of the pearlescent potion shifted, the smell of tea and clean washing wafted over to you.
That smell, you knew who that was, “Rem, if you’re trying to-”
“Hm?” He raised his eyebrows.
Remus was still opposite you, at his own cauldron.
James ducked his head, hiding a smirk.
Sirius took the opposite approach, “smell anything, Y/N?”
“Looking good, Y/L/N,” said Slughorn as he walked past, giving you an excuse to ignore Sirius.
You smiled, “oh, Sir, I was late and missed the beginning, what are these potions?”
He listed the names, explaining each. Finally, he reached the pearl potion, “this is amortentia, smells like what you love - very potent,” he chuckled.
Your mouth fell open.
Your eyes darted to Remus.
Remus was focussing extremely hard on his potion.
To James.
James was smiling knowingly at you.
To Lily.
Lily looked like she was about to explode her eyes were so wide.
“Sir, could I go the loo?” Slughorn looked at your potion, “but it will-”
“Please.”
Remus looked up at you.
“Uh, yes, if you must.”
You rushed from the classroom, heading up- wanting fresh air.
“Y/N! Hey!” You heard from behind you.
You didn’t turn, for the first time ever Remus was the last person you wanted to talk to.
His legs were longer than yours, he gently wrapped his hand around your arm, “talk to me.”
You looked into his honey eyes, they were pleading.
“Y/N,” he whispered, the corners of his mouth were turned up slightly causing the scar on his cheek to distort into a wave.
You opened your mouth but your words failed you instead, a small sigh replaced words.
He gulped, causing his adam’s apple to bob up and down, “I smelt flowers.”
Your mouth fell open again. “Specifically, the flowers that make your perfume,” his pink lips were forming a smile at the memory, “and that ‘candy’ you like.”
It wasn’t his mocking tone of candy that made you grin.
“Tea and clean clothes,” you couldn’t hide your smile, “that’s what I smelt.”
Remus bit his bottom lip.
You looked down, preparing to say something else. Before you could, Remus’ hands were cupping either side of your face.
His lips were warm against yours, his thumbs on your cheeks, and the third, and final smell intoxicated you.
Him.
Nothing could describe it.
It was just, him.
Your arms were still wrapped around his neck when you heard, “so, uh, Y/N - can we still play quidditch later or are you gonna be… busy?”

summary: a supposed lazy saturday at hogwarts turns out to be anything but that for the marauders
———
(hufflepuff! reader x r. lupin)
———
It was a lazy Saturday evening at Hogwarts. The Marauders were all sat in their dorm, with the addition of Remus’ Hufflepuff friend (Y/N). The three, Sirius, James and Peter, were all crowded around the Marauders Map, sitting on the floor by the window. Every boy too engrossed to pay any attention to the two students studying on one of the beds. “So- you said that you were having trouble with Charms?” Remus asked. (Y/N) nodded in reply, searching through her satchel for the charms textbook. “Uh, yeah actually. I’m just not good at the like wand movements, you know?”
“Yeah I understand.” Remus replied, “What spell or spells, are you having trouble with?” (Y/N) shrugged, “I- um, I’m not sure. I just know that if I get another ’T’ in that class my parents will send me to Azkaban.” The Lupin boy chuckled, “Alright,” he paused, noticing that (Y/N) was still rummaging through her brown leather bag, searching for the textbook. “Do you not have your book? We could just use mine…” The girl sighed, vigorously shaking her head, “No no it’s fine. I guess I left it in my dorm. Do you mind if I run and get it? I promise I won’t take long.”
She flashed Remus a small smile and the brunette returned it, “Sure, take your time (Y/N), I’ve got all day.” The Hufflepuff girl thanked him and then sped out the room door, heading down to the Hufflepuff common room. Remus’ eyes lingered on the door frame as he smiled to himself. Unbeknownst to the other Marauders, the Lupin boy had developed a small crush on her throughout their years at Hogwarts.
“Where’d your girlfriend go, Moony?” A voice said, interrupting his thoughts. Remus rolled his eyes, facing Sirius, “She’s not my girlfriend. I’m just helping her pass Charms, Alright?” Sirius laughed, standing up from his place on the floor, “Not your girlfriend, eh?” He smirked at the taller boy, “Shame. She’s quite pretty though, it’d be a pity if she got swept off her feet by some other Gryffindor.” Remus raised his eyebrow at Sirius, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
The raven haired boy leaned against the bed post casually, “Nothing. I’m just saying that if you fancy her, you should go for it. Ask her out- and not on a study date.” Remus once again rolled his eyes at Sirius, “I’ve already told you, Padfoot, I have no feelings for her outside of friendship, Alright?” “I mean I don’t believe you,” Sirius said, “But I won’t pressure you into confessing.” “Just make a move Rem,” James now joined the conversation, “Merlin knows how long it took me to get Evans to crack, just take her to Honeydukes next Hogsmeade trip.”
Remus shrugged, “I guess that’s not such a bad idea…” he trailed off, focusing back onto organising his work. The other three marauders also refocused on the map, attention completely diverted from the Hufflepuff that was just there.
⁂ ⁂ ⁂
(Y/N) walked out from the portrait, leaving the West tower. She ran down the moving stairs, apologising to every student she bumped into. Racing into the dungeons to get to the staircase to her common room, (Y/N) slowed her pace as she heard a set of footsteps coming from behind. As she was about to step into the alcove staircase, a hand latched onto her robes, dragging her into the kitchens hallway.
Since it was around seven o'clock the majority of Hogwarts students were either in the Great Hall for supper or in the library studying for upcoming O.W.L’s. The Hufflepuff was slammed up against the wall, breath being knocked out of her. Since the dungeons were dimly lit, (Y/N) couldn’t make out who had dragged her here. “Merlin,” She breathed, “What- Can I help you?” She struggled against the persons tight grip on her wrists.
The student laughed, and (Y/N) determined that it was a boy. “Yes actually,” He said, “You can.” (Y/N)’s eyes widened, she knew exactly who this was. “Lucius? What- I don’t understand. What’s the issue?” She was genuinely confused, the two weren’t friends, but they never had any strife between them. “The issue, (Y/N), is that you don’t know how to keep your nose out of other peoples business.” He sneered, his voice deadly quiet.
“Lucius, I really don’t know what you are talking about. I’m sure though, that we could just talk about this in the library. So if you could please let me-” The Slytherin slammed her against the wall again, leaning in closer. “No. You don’t get to order me around, filthy mudblood. I know you heard Severus’ conversation with Rosier.” The colour in (Y/N)’s face drained. She did hear the conversation.
It was a few days back, (Y/N) was seated in the library, reading up on Ancient Runes. She was minding her own business until she heard a murmur of familiar voices coming from behind a book shelf. As the voices got louder, she sat up from her chair and walked towards the shelf, pretending to read the book spines. “I’m telling you Severus,” Evan Rosier voice rung throughout the book alcove, “The time is coming. The dark lord is on the rise, I don’t know about you- but I want to be on the correct side when he does.” (Y/N) had gasped as Severus started to speak, “And I’m telling you, Evan- that you don’t need to worry about me. I know where my loyalties lie.”
The Hufflepuff was snapped back to reality as Lucius’ fingers dug harder into her wrists. She winced as he spoke again, “So I was right. You were there and you know exactly what they were talking about.”
“Lucius, please. Just let me be- I promise you that I won’t tell anyone.” The Hufflepuff begged. Malfoy laughed, “Like I would be daft enough to believe that. A Dumbledore kiss up like you, I wouldn’t be surprised if you already told all of your stupid mudblood friends.” Lucius backed away and for a second (Y/N) though that he was going to let her go.
Her thought, however, was disproved when the tall Slytherin reached for his wand. “What shall I do to you?” He asked rhetorically, “Hmm, Severus taught me a spell the other day, but I haven’t got the chance to test it out yet. Let’s change that, yeah?” (Y/N)’s hand frantically padded at her pockets in search of her wand as Lucius raised his own, “Sectumspemra!”
⁂ ⁂ ⁂
Remus was beginning to grow concerned. It had been twenty minutes and (Y/N) was still not back from her dorm. He tried to shake off his worries by organising his papers once more, though not even this helped. “Hey Prongs?” Remus called out. The other boys had disbanded from watching the map, each one of them now doing their own thing. “Yeah?” James called back.
“Can I uh, can I see the map real quick?” James arched an eyebrow at his friend but nodded, handing Remus the Marauders Map. “Is there an issue, Moony?” Peter called form his bed, currently binging on chocolate frogs. Remus sent a small smile towards Peter, “No it’s okay Wormtail.” He told Peter. “I’m sure she’ll be back soon.” Remus pointed his wand at the map and spoke, “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.”
The map opened and he immediately searched for (Y/N) (L/N). He furrowed his eyebrows as he found her name, another one alongside it. “Malfoy? What the hell is Malfoy doing with (Y/N)?” Remus whispered to himself. “You say something Moony?” James asked, peeking up from his sketch pad. “No, just talking to myself…” Remus paused, but then quickly looked back up at James. “Hey mate, mind if I borrow the cloak quickly?” James was confused once again, “Rem, what are you doing?”
“Please?” The Lupin boy pleaded. James reluctantly shrugged and reached for his Invisibility cloak. “Yeah, sure. But I’m coming with you.” Remus nodded, getting up from his bed. “Yeah, alright. Let’s go.” The two boys headed towards the door, James stopping only to turn back to look at Peter. “You coming, Wormy?” The blonde boy shook his head, “Um, I don’t think so. I’ll just stay here and wait for Sirius.”
Prongs nodded and closed the door, following behind Remus. James, though an amazing athlete, was struggling to keep up with the taller Gryffindor. “Hey- dude can you slow down a bit.” Remus, who James assumed couldn’t hear him, kept walking. The Potter boy groaned and ran to catch up with Remus. “Alright, put the cloak on.” Remus stuck his hand out to stop James.
The two boys were now at the door leading to the dungeons. James unfolded the cloak and threw it over the both of them. Remus opened the door quietly and slowly walked into the large hallway. The two marauders continued to walk in further until they heard two voices.
“-I promise you that I won’t tell anyone!” Remus instantly recognised the voice to be (Y/N)’s. He slowly edged out into the kitchens hallway, continuing the watch the scene cautiously. Both he and James had their wands drawn, ready to strike if Lucius tried anything. Remus was about to emerge from under the cloak as he saw Lucius draw his wand. James grasped Remus’ wrist, stopping the boy. “Just wait. If you attack him first, it’ll be you in detention and not him.”
“Sectumspemra!”
“Expelliarmus!” (Y/N)’s voice rung through the dungeon as Lucius’ wand was blasted out of his hand. The blonde seethed as he marched back over the (Y/N). Roughly, he pressed his forearm over her neck, keeping her in place. (Y/N) gasped, her air being cut off by the pressure. Lucius ripped his wand out of her hands and pushed down harder, leaning in. “You filthy mudblood! How dare you take my wand. I should kill you right here.”
Quickly, he pushed off of her, taking (Y/N) by surprise; who collapsed to the floor, gasping for air, and he pointed his wand at her.
“Cruci-”
“Stupefy!”
Lucius was blasted off of his feet and backwards into the wall. (Y/N) looked up to see James and Remus, both of their wands pointed at the now crumpled Slytherin. The two boys shared a look and James raced over to Lucius as Remus went to check on (Y/N). He gently grasped both of her shoulders and helped her sit up. “Hey, hey it’s okay. Just breathe in and out, Alright?”
(Y/N) nodded and began to steady her breath as Remus sat down next to her, rubbing along her arm soothingly. The girl leaned against him, placing her head onto his shoulder. If it was any other situation, Remus would have been blushing furiously, but right now her safety was Remus’ only concern. He quickly retracted his hand as (Y/N) winced at his touch. “Woah, hey were does it hurt?”
The Hufflepuff turned her wrist over and Remus gasped, his hatred for Lucius only growing. There, on her wrist, were large black and blue fingerprints. Remus slowly stood up, bringing (Y/N) to stand with him. “Um, I’m going to take you to Madam Pomfrey, is that okay?” (Y/N) nodded, wrapping her arm around Remus’.
“Hey Prongs,” He spoke, “I’m just going to bring her to Pomfrey, you okay to take care of Lucius.” James smirked at his mate, “Oh yeah, I’ll ‘take care of him’ alright.”
⁂ ⁂ ⁂
“Thanks again, Remus. You really were a life saver back there.” The two students were standing right outside of the hospital wing. An hour had passed since Remus brought (Y/N) to the infirmary and she had been bandaged up by Madam Pomfrey. “It was no problem.” Remus awkwardly scratched the back of his neck as he sent the girl a sheepish smile. “I promise you, I’m just glad I got there in time.”
The Hufflepuff laughed, “Yeah- me too. Tell James I said thank you also.” The two stood silent for a few second until (Y/N) cleared her throat. “Uh- I- I really am grateful Remus, truly. But I probably should head back to my dorm before curfew.” (Y/N) quickly placed a kiss on his cheek and turned to walk away. “Hey, wait!” Remus called after her, “Um, there’s a trip to Hogsmeade in two weeks and- I mean this is just a question but- do you want to go with me?”
Silence ensued after and Remus began to panic, “Oh, I-I didn’t mean as a date, unless you would like to but we could just hang out and it would-” (Y/N) slowly approached Remus as he was talking and stood onto her tip toes, softly placing her lips on his. The kiss was very quick, (Y/N) pulling away almost instantly. Remus was slightly shocked, but still was smiling like a doofus. “Yes. I’d love to go with you, even if it’s just as friends. Goodnight Remus.”
(Y/N) left the wing, going back down to the Hufflepuff common room. She wasn’t afraid to go back down there, after what James did to Lucius, (Y/N) was one-hundred percent sure that Lucius would never even look at her again. Remus was still smiling as he walked back to the Gryffindor common room. As he entered into his dorm, all eyes were on him.
“I did it. I asked her to Hogsmeade.” All three of the boys’ eyes widened. Sirius was the first to speak, “You what?” Remus sat down onto his bed, smile still present on his face. “I took your advice, mate. I asked her out and- and she said yes!” The marauders all erupted into cheers, everyone patting Remus on the back in congratulations.

“Well hello there Mrs Moony,” Sirius greeted you as you walked into the common room that day. You turned to glare at him, “Will you stop calling me that?”
“I don’t think I can,” Sirius said with a cheeky grin. Rolling your eyes, you sat down on the couch besides James and sighed.
“You know Y/n, you should just admit that you fancy our dear wolfy friend, and we’d stop this. If you really think about it, it’s your fault we tease you,” James said with an innocent grin.
“I don’t fancy Remus, okay? I don’t know where you got the idea that I do, but-” You were interrupted.
“Maybe because you’re always staring at him.”
“And you blush every time he speaks.”
“And you stutter around him.”
“And you wrote it in your diary-”
“I don’t have a diary,” you said, confused. “Yes, but if you did, you’d have pages on just his hair,” Sirius replied, “Because we know how much you love his hair.”
A blush started to form on your face as you avoided eye contact with either of the boys. “Awww, look Pads, she’s blushing,” James cooed, his grin almost reaching his ears. “Come on, Y/n, we’ll stop this when you say that you love Moony,” Sirius said as he pushed a loose strand of hair out of his face, “All you have to do is say the words.”
“You guys are impossible,” you grumbled, “How many times do I have to tell you that I don’t like Remus in that way?”
“If it makes you feel any better, Moony has been in love with you since first year,” James said casually, lifting his feet to rest them across your lap. You almost choked on air, “W-What?”
“Yeah, he’s always going on about how perfect and amazing you are, and how he wishes he could be with you. It gets really annoying if I’m honest,” James said, yawning as though it was the most boring thing he had said in his life.
“H-He loves me?” You stuttered, your heart racing, “You’re lying. You’re just trying to make me admit that I love Remus!”
“So you do love him,” Sirius smirked, crowing his arms over his chest triumphantly.
“N-No! I didn’t say that!”
“Yes you did!”
“No I didn’t!”
“Prongs, help me out here, didn’t she just say she loved Moony?” Sirius whipped his head round to look at his best friend.
“He’s right, Y/n. You can’t go back on your word now,” James backed Sirius up, and Sirius nodded at him proudly.
“Can you two just leave me alone for once?” You complained with a frown.
“We will. Once you admit it,” James told you.
“No.”
“Just admit it!” Sirius yelled loudly, throwing his hands up in the air in exasperation.
“Fine! I fancy Remus! Are you happy now?! Merlin, you’re both so bloody annoying!” You yelled out.
Sirius nudged James, and they both stood up, large grins on their faces that put you on edge.
“We knew it,” Sirius said smugly, his signature smirk still resting on his face. He then looked somewhere over your shoulder and his face lit up.
“Oh, hey there Moony!” Sirius said loudly, “We’re just leaving.”
You felt your heart stop and your face flooded red. Slowly turning around, you saw that Sirius, for once, was actually telling the truth, and Remus was stood in the doorway to the common room, his mouth fallen in a slack ‘o’ as he stared in your direction.
“P-Please tell me you didn’t hear any of that,” you whispered, your breathing shaky.
Remus took a step towards you slowly. You could see the shock on his face, and it made you anxious not knowing whether it was good-shock or bad-shock. “I.. um.. I heard it,” Remus said in disbelief, “D-Did you mean it, or did you just say it to make them be quiet?”
He could feel his own heart thumping in his chest, hoping against hope that you would say you meant it. His hands curled into fists in his jumper sleeves as he waited in anticipation for your answer.
“If I said I meant it, what would you do?” You asked quietly, trying to avoid looking into his chocolate brown eyes and instead playing with your fingers nervously.
You saw Remus’ face flush as he gulped. He took in your appearance: the way your face was flushed pink, how your hair fell perfectly against your cheeks, and how your eyes seemed to sparkle, even in the simple glow of the fire. He especially took note of how pink your lips were, and never before had the urge to kiss you been so strong. He finally replied, hypnotised by how beautiful you looked illuminated by the flames, “I’d do this.”
Before you could comprehend what was going on, his soft lips had crashed onto yours, taking you completely by surprise.
You felt all your emotions come to play at once as your arms wrapped around Remus’ neck, tugging softly at the loose tufts of hair, resulting in soft moans from his part. His hands gently ran down your frame, gently holding onto your hips as the pads of his thumbs rubbed circles over your shirt.
“I guess this is a good time to tell you that I fancy you too,” Remus mumbled against your lips, and you couldn’t help the smile that stretched across your face.
“Well aren’t you two just adorable,” a voice mused from behind the couch you were sat on.
“SIRIUS!”
Dating Sirius Black Would Involve
Running your fingers through his hair. When you kiss, when you cuddle, when you hug, all the time.
Sirius whispering in your ear a lot. He’ll nibble on your ear and kiss your neck and then whisper a random comment which would of course make you laugh. He would love your laugh.
Wearing his jacket because he thinks you look really hot in it.
He would tell you how hot you looked, a lot.
Sirius taking you for rides on his motorbike but he makes sure you’re safe and he makes sure you hold on tight. He loves the feeling of your arms wrapped tightly around his waist and the wind in his hair.
He loves that dizzy laugh you do when you stop riding on a broom or his motorbike together. He loves the way you brush your hair from your eyes and collapse against him laughing.
“Shhh.” kisses, “Shhh I love you.”
Your “reunions” after class would be so dramatic. He’d pick you up and swing you around and kiss you like he hadn’t seen you in months.
When you actually hadn’t seen each other for months, Sirius would be almost crying when he saw you again. He’d be overwhelmed by how beautiful you were so he’d quickly hug you to hide his tears.
You would be the really embarrassing, so-in-love couple.
Laughing so loudly when you’re together that you get told off.
Teasing him for “being a little baby hiding under ten pounds of black leather.”
He would grab you when you said this, press a sloppy kiss to your cheek and whisper in your ear, “Ten pounds? Come on, you know I wear less than that for you.”
Stealing his jumpers. Sirius pouts and asks for it back. “Can you give my jumper back please darling, it’s cold.” A sly smirk from you then a quiet, “Make me.” Sirius glances at the Marauders then back at you. “Maybe later.”
Sirius stealing your jumper and showing up with it on one time to get back at you. “Sirius! You’re going to stretch it!” You exclaim, stifling your laughter. “You want me to give it back?” He says with a smirk twitching at his lips. “Yes.” “Make me.” He grins. “SIRIUS BLACK YOU STOLE MY LINE!” You yell, tacking him. There’s laughter from the other Marauders as Sirius is caught in a fit of laughter and half screams as you tickle him into submission (Sirius is very ticklish, especially on his stomach).

Loud laughter boomed from the hall as you walked toward your next class. Barely twenty feet ahead of you were the infamous Marauders, or as you liked to call them - your twin and his dopey friends, walking side by side. You shook your head at their boisterousness. You preferred to keep to yourself, there was very few people you wanted to talk to anyway. Yes, your brother and his friends were quite a sight to see, and nothing could bring them down. You were the opposite. Where James was loud, you were quiet. He was out going, you were shy. He was sporty, and you, well, weren’t. He was popular, and the professors didn't seem to even know your name. You were the other Potter. You let out a sigh and decided to go the long way instead. ///-///
You could practically see your brother’s blinding smile from across the room as he spoke to his friends, gesturing wildly. You pushed your plate away, letting your head fall against the table with a muted thump.
James scanned the room for your face with a smile, finally seeing you tucked away in the furthest corner of the Slytherin table. He frowned at the sight of you looking so disconnected, like nobody wanted to sit around you as you rested you head on your arm, poking a fork at your food. “I’ll be right back.” He told his friends, but whether they heard was indecipherable. “Hey, Y/n/n.” He plopped down across from you, smiling again as you raised your eyes to stare at him. “Yes, J?” You spared him a small smile, knowing that he could get in trouble just from sitting over here to talk to you. “The boys and I are going to Hogsmeade this weekend. Can you come?” James beamed at you. “You know I’d love to, but I’d hate to intrude on your boys weekend.” You tried to politely excuse yourself. “Come on, Y/n, pleasseeee,” The dumb boy whined with a pout, “I miss hanging out with my little sister.” “Fine.” You caved. His pleading look turned into one of triumph as he stood once again. “Yes! We’ll meet in the courtyard at 11 on Saturday!” He bounced back to his table, ignoring the glares he was getting from the other Slytherins. ///-///
As promised, you showed up in the courtyard at 10:45, hugging your sweater closer around you in the autumn chill. You could hear the boys before you could see them. Arguing in attempted hushed tones as they approached. “Y/n/n!” James beamed at you, clearly cutting off whatever Sirius was arguing with him about, and wrapped you up in a hug from the side. “James.” You stifled a laugh at his antics, patted his arm. You looked to the others, giving them a shy smile. You knew their names, of course; everyone knew the names of the biggest trouble makers in school. “Y/n, you know Remus, Sirius and Peter, right?” Your brother asked as he pulled away. You just shrugged, holding your tongue. You had always heard about how attractive Sirius was, all the girls on your floor twitter on and on about him, but up close he proved more than you had expected. However, he was a notorious flirt and you refused to give in to it. “Shall we go?” You asked in a soft voice, earning voices of agreement.
You walked behind them, feeling out of place amongst the quartet. You would’ve been fine with just your brother, or maybe your brother and Remus, but the presence of all four of the intimidated you. “What do you think, Y/n?” Sirius’s voice brought you from your thoughts. “I’m sorry, what? I wasn’t listening?” You hummed, looking up from where you were staring at their feet in front of you. “Honeydukes or Zonkos?” He prompted. “Oh, um, Honeydukes. You guys could just make whatever you needed from Zonkos, why would you bother buying it?” You shrugged. heat rose to your face from being put on the spot. “Honeydukes it is!” Peter beamed charging ahead. This time James fell into place with you. “I need help with Lily,” He admitted, blood rushing his cheeks. “Awe you’re blushing,” You teased, poking his cheek. “So are you! At least Sirius didn’t make me blush.” He stuck his tongue out at you. “Sirius didn’t make me blush.” You protested. “Besides how can I help, I don’t know Lily.” “But you know girls. I have no clue about them, it makes me feel stupid.” He sighed. “James, you became an animagus at 15. You are far from stupid.” You comforted. “Look, maybe, instead of trying so hard to impress her; why don’t you just, y'know have a real conversation with her? Ask her what she thought of the homework, or what ever book she reads." "You’re a genius, little sister.” He pulled his arm around your neck as if to give you a noogie. “Yeah whatever.” You mumbled. “And for the millionth time, we are the same age.” “But I was born first.” He teased. “By like two minutes!” You argued, unable to keep the grin off your face.
Honeydukes was bustling with life as you followed your brother through the shop. Your heart pounded as all the noise surrounded you, quickly you grabbed the back of your brother’s shirt and let him lead you through the crowd. “I’m telling you, you need to try this one.” Remus insisted, trying to force Sirius to take a small box of chocolate. “Y/n,” Sirius perked up when he saw you behind James, “Why don’t you try this chocolate.” “Oh, um, sure.” You took the box from him, holding carefully in your hands. Finally you guys checked out, arms full of your sweets. You placed your small selection on the counter, James laughed loudly with Remus and Peter as they left. “Two Chocolate Wands and a Peppermint Toad, will that be all for you?” The man asked. “Yes, sir,” You smiled slightly. “15 Galleons,” He said in a bored voice. You dug through your sweater pockets for your change, counting out what you had. “14 galleons,” You muttered to yourself scratching the back of your neck, “Uh, how much if I put one of the Chocolate Wands back?” “Here.” Sirius handed you a galleon, “You don’t have to put one back.” “Thank you, Sirius.” You handed the man your fourteen galleons, collecting your treats. “Have a nice day,” The man called to you as you followed Sirius. “You didn’t have to do that, Y'know.” You faced the raven haired boy. “Do what?” He grinned, playing dumb. “You didn’t have to help me.” “Well, I wanted to.” He shrugged. “You shouldn’t feel obligated to just because I’m James’ sister.” You crossed your arms. Your angry face adorable in his eyes. “I didn’t do it because of James. I did it because I wanted to.” He maintained, trying to hide how much your frustration made him want to laugh. “Well, why then? And don’t say ‘because you wanted to’. It’s not like I’m part of your group. I’m just.. I’m just me.” You sighed at the end. You didn’t want help. You didn’t need help. You just wanted to be. “Exactly. You’re you. that’s reason enough.” He beamed at you and your heart swelled. The only people who wanted to talk to you just wanted to get to James, but Sirius already had a James. He just wanted you. Just as you are. “O-oh,” You said lamely. Heat rushing to your face as a result of your chagrin. “And, I’d like it very much if you hung out with us more.” He stated as he walked away, spotting your brother walking into The Three Broomsticks. “I’d like that too.”
Maybe you weren’t quite as invisible as you thought.
