Every night was a challenge, crying, followed by dozens of stories, followed by a glass of water, followed by Kaina telling Kai to let Eri sleep in between them, and quite frankly, Kai was tired of it.
His attempt at a peaceful life while leading the Shie Hassaikai was being turned on its head by one simple factor, his beloved daughter and her newly founded step-mother. Oh, how he longed for a night where it was just them in the bed, and for Eri to sleep a full night in her bed. How he wished the nightmares of her mother blaming her quirk to fade, for the young girl to feel safe, but alas, here they were, 11pm and still fighting for sleep.
āCan I please sleep with you two?ā Eri cried, tears running down her cheeks, āThere could be a monster in my room!ā
The elusive monster was her latest excuse, her fear of being a problem caused her to create problems within her head to be loved.
āThereās no monster, honeyā Kaina sweetly told her, Kai couldnāt believe his luck, another night and his love was still calm, still loving his daughter.
Scooping Eri up in his arms, rocking her gently, he began to try to calm her enough for her to sleep alone for the night.
āShhh, Iām sure Kaina will check under the bed and in the closet for monsters, and I promise weāll scare them away.ā
Nothing was calming her, she only grew more anxious as she grew more tired, he wasnāt sure how pops handled raising two children considering he was barely surviving one.
