OTP Wedding Asks - Jake x Lanie (AU)

How long were they together before they got engaged? Jake and Lanie were together for about 4 years before they got engaged.
Who proposed and how? Jake had initially planned to propose after theyād been together for about a year, but after Lanie found the ring and freaked out (she had some issues with marriage because of her family history), he reassured her that they didnāt need to get married to be together. After 3 years, Lanie proposed to Jake on their anniversary and told him they were expecting their first child together.
How long was the engagement? Very short - only about six weeks. Neither of them wanted to waste any time after they got engaged. āI donāt want to spend a second of time not being married to you than I have to, darlinā.ā They immediately started planning a destination wedding.
Where was the Wedding? They both love the beach so it was an easy decision to have the wedding some place tropical and near the water. They chose Costa Rica because they had taken their first family vacation there a couple years before and it was an immediate favorite for all three of them.
Colors/Theme? Colors were lots of greens and bright tropical colors. Theme was laid back but romantic and intimate.
Big Wedding or Small? Very small. Jake, Lanie, and Livia obviously. Their guests were Jakeās parents and sister, Diego and Vaaryn, Mike and his girlfriend and a few other friends.
Who did most of the planning? Lanie. Jake picked the beach they got married on and organized the travel plans, but Lanie did most of the other planning. Livia loved helping with the planning too. No one was more excited about the wedding than Liv and she had a lot of ideas they tried to incorporate.
Tell me about the cake! Jakeās mom made the wedding cake. It was his favorite hummingbird cake. Lanie absolutely fell in love with it when Jakeās mom made it the first time Lanie visited Louisiana with Jake and Livia.
What about the flowers? Birds of paradise and other bright tropical flowers. They also used a lot of greenery in their decorating.
Their attire? A light, blue linen suit, no tie, unbuttoned white shirt and bare feet for Jake. It was very casually dressy and fit him very well. Lanie loved the way the blue brought out his eyes.Ā
Lanieās dress was simple, long and flowy but embellished with appliquĆ© flowers. She and Liv went shopping together and itās one of Lanieās most precious memories. Liv actually picked the dress and love the little bits of pink in it.
Wedding Party? Jake and Lanie didnāt actually have a wedding party. During the ceremony, it was just the two of them. Mike performed the ceremony (and under threat of death from Lanie managed to keep the jokes to a minimum). Diego also gave a reading during the ceremony. During the actual vows, they had Livia with them. It was important to all of them that the wedding be about their vows to each other but also about their family.Ā
Which traditions were important to them? Which ones did the skip? They didnāt really hold to many traditions at all. Jake and Lanie hardly had a traditional courtship and theyāve always done things their own way.Ā
What about something that was uniquely āthemā?Ā They wrote their own vows for the ceremony and both made vows to Liv too. They kept the wedding itself short and sweet in the late mornin. They and their friends and family spent the whole rest of the day on the beach playing games, grilling out food, and just enjoying each other. It was incredibly relaxed and hell of a lot of fun.Ā
Whatās their favorite memory of the day? For Lanie, it was when they announced her pregnancy to everyone. They kept it a secret until that day (Liv was the only one who knew) which wasnāt easy when everyone kept joking about a shotgun wedding since their engagement was so short, but the excitement from everyone when they told them was amazing.Ā
For Jake, he had a couple favorite memories. One was dancing on the beach with Liv on his hip and one arm around Lanie - his girls. In that moment, he couldnāt believe how lucky he was. His other favorite memory was later that night when he and Lanie went back to their little bungalow and they reiterated their vows to each other and made love under the moonlight. The look on Lanieās face when she told him how much she loved him and how excited she was to be his wife is something heāll never forget.Ā
Where did they go for their honeymoon? Jake and Lanie stayed in Costa Rica for a week after the wedding. They did absolutely nothing but be together and make memories.Ā
