FFA in high schools
How does agriculture feed our nation?
I think the Future Farmers of America should be taught in high schools around the United States. I think it is important to have at least a basic understanding of where food comes from, and not just the grocery store. I find this topic extremely relevant to people across the world because who does need to eat? This topic hits home for me because I am an animal science student who has always some way been involved in agriculture, and I am dumbfounded when I hear people say that our food comes from the grocery store. There is a whole industry that is revolved around this one concept, feeding the world. I feel it is important to know where and how your food comes from especially on the topic of food safety and basic health nutrition. And no I’m not talking about processed foods such as the next Swiss cake roll or snickers bar; I’m talking about proteins and carbohydrates like meat and vegetables. This is crucial for our nation to give farmers the appropriate feedback for their needs and wants are, if the everyday person does not know or understand what they what for food, then how anybody will know what to produce. Agriculture in America is a vital part to human existence and without the proper nutrient based foods or population could not survive. So with this need FFA is a good resource that is underutilized and should be implemented into every high school and should be a part of the curriculum. This can ensure a population of informed people who will know how their food is made and then ultimately consumed.
