Astrid was 12, but she was observant and always had been. Her dads had told her it was a strength and that she should never stop viewing the world as she did. So, she didn’t. She watched everything around her, even if people didn’t realize she was or say much. Actually, that’s why she was currently entering the Ravencaw 1st year boy’s dormitory with a large tray of food while everyone else was at lunch. She’d noticed that one of the new 1st year boys hadn’t left his dorm that day and she wanted to make sure he was okay and that he ate. He had already missed breakfast, but he wasn’t going to miss lunch if she could help it. She had also managed to find out what work he was missing from one of his classmates and was already compiling the list and would offer to do it for him, or help him.
Astrid knocked gently before she entered, balancing the large tray in her arms. She was a bit tiny for a 2nd year, but she managed just the same. She had gotten this far without dropping the tray and she’d be damned if she dropped it now. “Hey…I know you don’t know me, but I sort of noticed you didn’t come out…and uh…well, I thought maybe you’d be hungry…but I didn’t know what you liked so I brought everything and…uh…can we have lunch together? Oh! I brought hot chocolate too because chocolate makes everything better…at least that’s what my dad says.” Astrid rambled a bit awkwardly as she made her way over to his bed, a blush creeping up to her face along with a rather sheepish grin. She nervously shifted from heel to toe as she looked at him, hoping he didn’t reject her. She didn’t like when people did that. She just wanted to make friends. “Oh…I should probably tell you my name. It’s Astrid. Astrid Alden. Prof. Alden is my dad, well one of them.” Her blush only increased as she was sure she was doing this completely wrong.

Pyry was having one of those days. He was stuck in this emotionless zone. Getting up took motivation and he had none. It was days like this that made it hard for the young ravenclaw to do anything. It wasn’t new and despite having medication to help. He just was in this slump and hadn’t left his dorm. He had no will to move from his spot on the bed. The worst part was Pyry had felt it coming in, and he couldn’t avoid it. He tired but it just didn’t happen.
The first year looked over at the sound of the knocking. It was the furthest he had moved today. That was saying something. It was lunch already? Damn. Today was just going by. Pyry moved to sit up at least. He was still in his pjs. “I dunno if chocolate can make this better. But I like chocolate so it is worth a shot. You can sit down if you want. Thanks for bringing food for lunch, it is nice.” He didn’t offer a smile but he smoothed out a spot on the bed for her. Oh, now he knew her. He knew the professor, obviously, as he was head of house. “I’m Pyry Chiela-Boo. I have two dads too, but none of mine work here. One of my dads is a dancer and my other one is an an author.”

Gael chuckled. “Veles, they LIKE you. That’s what they want. Girls don’t just hang around, especially if they’re snooty. I mean, I don’t like girls but I know that’s why they’re hanging around me. I mean…I asked Chepi and that’s what she says at least and I trust Chepi. She knows a lot.” Most siblings fought. Gael and Chepi never really did. Maybe it was the fact that Gael spent a lot of time away from her in the hospital or that he had almost died a few times, but either way they didn’t fight. Gael actually had a high opinion of his sister and took her word as law. If she said girls hanging around him meant they liked him, he believed her.
“Well then I can agree fasting is awful. I mean, I have a pretty limited diet as it is….but it’s worst when I fast because then I’m so hungry I want everything I can’t have when I’m allowed to eat again.” Sometimes, he snuck things he wasn’t supposed to have too. Like french fries. He loved french fries but they were not good for his heart and he wasn’t supposed to have them. He snuck them sometimes though because what kid wouldn’t? Pizza too. He loved pizza, but again it wasn’t good for his ticker. “I can imagine. I mean, I’ve never had chemo but some of the meds I’ve had to be on for after surgery have sucked a lot and I know when I get my transplant…if I ever do…I have to take some harsh anti-rejection drugs. Only thing I can compare it too. At least you got Poncho out of it all. I just got lots of scars.”

Veles just stared at him in shock. They liked him? That was news to him. “Oh. Well I didn’t know that there. I don’t like them like that. I don’t really like them anyway.” He was so unaware of someone liking him he now was wondering who else he missed. That and what did he like? Honestly he hadn’t really thought about it. His life was sports and pretending he had two legs which made balancing easier.
“Yeah I can’t even sneak food that I can’t have but want in. If I do that I feel like there is a war going on in my stomach and that just means more time in the hospital.” He didn’t like that but he would go on with it. Thankfully he could have most things but he couldn’t have pepperoni, anything with spicy in the title, and other things. He really wanted to know but he couldn’t risk it. Man he was hungry right now. “Well I mean I got Poncho and they took a leg. So it doesn’t look pretty without the sleeve on it. And it’s pretty boring honestly. I want someone to paint it in like all sorts of things. It shows and if I have to have one I’m not going to blend in with the rest of the world. Nah, I want to stand out and maybe you know make someone feel better about having prosthetic. Nothing shameful about having one.”

Marjorie bounced one hand in the other, a telltale sign she was nervous. One that Tu would easily recognize. One that she couldn’t stop, even though she was aware of it. Her hand continued to bounce as she tried to figure out how to say what she wanted to say.
“I like you,” she finally blurted out. “More than a friend, I mean. I like you a lot. But…I also like someone else. Our other friend. I’m pretty sure I’m polyamorous.”
Oh Tu could see that she was nervous. The hand bouncing was something he knew as her nervous sign. The what she was nervous about he didn’t know. He would have to wait on that one.
He blinked a few times. He was in silence a for a few moments. “I like you too.” he said softly. Then the last part he got up and went over to her. “Which friend do you like? I like you and one of our friends too. I guess that means I’m polyamorus too. And I confessed this to a friend already, but I need to know if it is the same one.”

Gael chuckled. “I wish I had your problems. I mean…I’m popular in Hufflepuff, I guess…popular with the girls but I’m clueless on how to deal with that and I don’t really want to anyway. I don’t really like them like they like me.” He was only 13 but he was sure that he was gay at this point. He knew it wouldn’t be a problem with his family. After all, he had two dads. However, he genuinely hated hurting others and he had no idea how to break it to the girls who liked him that he had eyes on another…the boy before him.
Gael nodded. “At least you don’t have to have dye shot into you so that your heart and blood vessels all light up and can be seen. I feel like a science experiment sometimes.” He honestly hated all this. All he wanted was to get a heart that worked but thus far his wasn’t “damaged enough” to merit one even if he had so many restrictions that he didn’t get to be a kid or live his life the way he wanted to. It sucked, but such was his life and he always had a way of smiling through it all and looking on the bright side.

Veles shook his head. “No it ls like I can’t be left alone for like five minutes. It is super hard to do any studying or anything.” He sighed a little. “I have a lot of girls too in Slytherin, it’s really weird. They are all kinda snooty at times. I don’t get what they want from me though.” There was Veles basically saying that he was clueless when it came to knowing when people were flirting with him. He had no clue at all.
He nodded. “That is true. But they wanted me to fast as they are checking the blood flow to my leg after they do the normal scan.” He hated fasting as he typically had to do it while going through chemo or he’d puke it all up.It sucked. All of it sucked. But he was alive and that was what mattered. Sure his leg was feeling colder than normal but he figured it was the leg he wore. “I think I’d rather have dye than chemo. That stuff sucked. But I got Poncho who’s been letting me know all day my blood sugar is low but can’t do anything about it right now.”

Marjorie found herself smiling back at Tu. He had one of the most beautiful smiles, one she had loved since they met. She didn’t know that he had already admitted to liking their other friend. If she had, it would have made this conversation easier.
“Mind if we go somewhere private?” Marjorie asked, pulling him towards an empty classroom without waiting for his response. She closed the door behind her and looked at him for a moment, unsure how to approach the subject.
He could lose himself in those eyes of hers. Marjorie had the most beautiful eyes he had never come cross. Tu had a song about them somewhere in his bag about them. Well about her. Feelings were difficult at times and so music was how he could write them out.
He didn’t even respond to her, just let her pull him to the classroom. Though he wasn’t sure about needing to be private. He looked at her and sat on a desk. “So what did you want to talk about, Mar?” He waited as he pulled his bag up next to him.
It had been a few years since Marjorie had become close friends with Tu. And about six months since she began realizing she cared about him as more than that. She knew him well, and was pretty sure he felt the same. That didn’t mean she knew for sure, it was just a guess. Still, Marjorie was nervous.
Because he wasn’t the only person she liked. No, she felt the exact same way about another one of their friends. Marjorie knew that must make her polyamorous, but she wasn’t sure how Tu would feel about that. How anyone would feel about that. Approaching him between classes, Marjorie tried to look normal, and not like her insides were tumbling around. “Tu! Hey, can we talk?”
Tu knew he liked Marjorie, one of his closest friends. However he also like another one of his friends. It wasn’t something he had ever dealt with before. How could he like more than one person? It was strange and while he had admitted he liked the other friend in their group but he hadn’t come forward with the he liked Marjorie too.
Now between classes he heard his name, turning to face the girl headed his way. He smiled at her, he couldn’t help but smile at her. How could he stop? He nodded at her. “Yeah, what’s up? I don’t have class for a little while.” He responded to her. Just shifted his bag on his shoulder.
Veles Avery-Himmelstein
Veles was adopted as a baby from a rather sad hitwizard tragedy. He’s the third child to Caleb/Eros
He is a religious child, having had really only that to hold onto when he got cancer.
He’s ended up getting very sick when he was only about 6 years old. Eros noticed the signs and went to get him checked.
Veles ended up having osteostorma. His left leg is now missing above the knee. It had traveled down to the ankle not allowing that to be used as a new joint.
Despite his battle with cancer he’s a really upbeat person. He doesn’t let it slow him down if he can help it.
Quidditch is something that he loves. Sports are something he loves to do when he can. His dream is to go to the Olympics.
He’s a giant goofball. Always tries to make his family smile.
His favorite thing to do is swim, but as he is at Hogwarts so often that he doesn’t think he can do it competitively.
He’s a Slytherin just due to his ambition in life. He’s out to prove that cancer doesn’t define him.
Due to his cancer his stomach is really sensitive. The littlest things can make it upset.
He has a serves dog named Poncho that alerts him to his blood sugar dropping, as he’s gotten extremely sensitive about that after his battle with cancer.
Poncho is seriously his best friend.
He learned ASL for his oldest sister.
While a very active person he really enjoys lazy days.
Veles loves making messes and having fun. Which is a problem in school because he often does something without thinking. Like start a food fight.
He isn’t a giant fan of reading but he will if the book strikes his interest. He doesn’t like history because of this fact.
He’s scared he’ll get sick again one day, he hopes it doesn’t happen though.
His patronus is a fox.
