Brynn! Can you share why you don't think Jon is dead? Not that I disagree with you or anything... I just need to have some small speck of hope in this depressing fucking tv show for the next year. ;(
To put it simply– Jon Snow cannot die. He’s one of the main POV characters and they aren’t just going to build the character up so much in one season just to kill him. D&D can say ‘dead is dead’ all they want but I ain’t buying it. Generally, when they kill someone off– it is like a slow progressive downfall with just a wee dash of hope/happiness before they are slaughtered. See Ned, Catelyn, and Robb.
Whereas, this whole season– for me at least– cemented Jon’s role as an important character and built him up. He became Lord Commander. He won favour with the Wildlings by showing decency towards Mance. He killed one of the leaders of the White Walkers. He proved himself as a freakin’ bad ass. There is more but I’m pissed so I forget it.
Now, onto the Melisandre stuff. She’s shown interest in him since the moment they met. It would be bad storytelling and a waste of screen time to include the scene of Melisandre trying to entice Jon. Also, she just very conveniently showed up a few hours before Olly freaking became the Brutus to Jon’s Caesar. Up until that day, she thought that Stannis was Azor Ahai (aka the Prince who Was Promised) but she ditched him when she realized she was wrong af. She went to Castle Black– she could have gone anywhere??? So, I’m theorizing that she’s going to have something to do with bringing Jon back. If that isn’t the case– what was the point of her going to Castle Black? What was the point in her storyline at all if not for her to appear at the crucial moment in time? Also, the Lord of Fucking Light has brought someone back before and D&D regularly ‘trim the fat’ of the novels but kept that scene in SOOOOO???
Other reasons why I don’t think he’ll stay dead because wtf???
- Sansa– for the first time in the history of ever– showed interest in her half-brother and after the big escape… I think she’s headed to Castle Black where her big brother can help keep her safe from that bastard Ramsay and help her find Bran and Rickon
- There was mention this season of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Personally, me and everyone else in the world thinks those two are Jon’s actual parents. Ahem– a Song of Ice (Lyanna) and Fire (Rhaegar). Jon is literally so important.
- He’s JUST TOO IMPORTANT TO DIE
- Fucking Entertainment Weekly was baiting the frick frack out of all of us in that interview with Kit. And he is being a poop too. Because Kit is contractually obligated to keep his hair long for GoT– Entertainment Weekly said ‘shortly after this interview, he cut his hair’… um, no? He didn’t. See this article titled ‘Everyone shut up about Kit Harington’s non-existent haircut’.
- Homeboy got a raise last year for signing on to season six and seven and he’s also probs getting paid to a) lie to us or b) is enjoying being a shitlord because– personally– how hard are we all gonna cry (even me who doesn’t believe that he is really dead) when Jon Snow shows back up on your TV next April???
- By killing Jon, they are essentially cutting off Castle Black and the Wall as a location. Sam is gone. Davos and Melisandre are there but they are supporting cast. With Winter in full force and the White Walkers approaching– they need an important character at the helm of the story to grab viewer’s attention to it.
- I have this weird theory that Shireen’s ~sacrifice~ is somehow going to come into play with Jon’s resurrection. A life for a life and all of that jazz.
- Also, where the fuck was Ghost? They’re gonna kill Jon and not show him and his direwolf one last time? Also, the wolves’ fates usually reflect that of the Stark children. If Ghost is a-okay. Jon should be too IMO.
- I think that the three heads of the dragon are Dany, Tyrion, and Jon. And they are all actually Targaryens. Dany’s parentage being correct. Jon as the son of Lyanna and Rhaegar. And Tyrion as Aerys Targaryen and Joanna Lannister.
- There is probably more but I can’t think of anything right now????
