Ohhhh Dead Talents Society was a whole five-course meal!!! Like, it's a found family story that also grapples with the pressure to succeed (especially with social media amplifying everyone else's W's and recruiters eyeing them hard irl). Can't just be a humble hotel room haunter now, you're measured up against your student that hopped on youtube in early 2000's and now has a whole business. Can't be a regular schoolgirl, you gotta go to a good college while thinking of your lawyer elder sister's awards cabinet. And yeah, sure, you're told it's okay but in the background, the vibes are like when an ostensibly nice manager still tells you your 110% aren't enough.

So yeah, it's both a story about a ghost trying to establish a legend so she doesn't die again and also a story about trying to survive the dog-eat-dog competitive environment today. It's funny as hell, with slapstick, grossout humor, and just regular deadpan comedy. But also yeah, it's sweet to watch those deemed incapable of competing form a family and actually succeed.

And the direction is so lively and gorgeous omfg. And the way the daywear styling of the ghosts tells you roughly when they might have died is brilliant??

Anyways, it's on Netflix in US.
